Super Sentai 2017 Rumor Thread- "Uchu Sentai Kyuranger"

Quote:
CURRENTLY KNOWN INFORMATION

Official sites: Kyuranger.jp, Toei, TV Asahi, Twitter

Premiering: February 12th, 2017 at 7:30am on TV Asahi

Show tagline: "Uchuu Sentai, Shidou!" = "Space Taskforce, Move Out!"

Synopsis: "The Earth has fallen into the hands of invaders.
When the universe falls into the hands of heartless beings, when people shed tears, the 9 (Kyunin) Utimate (Kyuukyoku) Saviors (Kyuuseishu), those chosen by the KyuTama, appear to save the universe.
9 individuals with strong personalities.
The strongest warriors arise here and now."

The team is comprised of nine members; seven male and two female, including our first female green!

  • Shishi Red / Lucky (Lion) - Played by Takumi Kizu
A warrior born under the Leo constellation. He has an extreme level of good luck, and is good in a pinch.
  • Sasori Orange / Stinger (Scorpion) - Played by Yousuke Kishi
A warrior who uses his poison tail in his fighting techniques.
  • Ookami Blue / Garu (Wolf) - Voiced by Kazuya Nakai
A Beast Man (Jyujin) warrior who specializes in fighting wild opponents.
  • Tenbin Gold / Balance (Libra) - Voiced by Yuuki Ono
Essentially a techno-path. He is a mechanical life form.
  • Oushi Black / Champ (Bull) - Voiced by Akio Ootsuka
A robot with amazing physical power.
  • Hebitsukai Silver / Rei Naga (Orphiuchus) - Played by Tamaki Yamazaki
A Hebitsukai alien and can stop people from moving. He fights in tandem with Gold.
  • Chameleon Green / Hami - Played by Sakurako Okubo
A Ninja who has a plethora of ninja techniques. Seems to be an alien as she can change the color of her body to hide.
  • Washi Pink / Laputa 283 (Eagle) - Voiced by M.A.O.
A warrior adept at flying and speed. She's an Eagle-type Android.
  • Kajiki Yellow / Spada (Swordfish) - Played by Tetsuji Sakakibara
A chef who is better than anyone at cooking. Excels in blade attacks.

The Rangers transform using a wrist/lower arm mounted device called the Seiza Blaster with the call of "Souchaku!".

Small orb collectibles known as KyuTama are used with the henshin device.

Their sidearm weapon is named Kyu the Weapon and is adapted to suit each Ranger, each having its own form specific to them. Combining and transforming the parts in various different ways allows the team to possess a total of nine possible weapons:
  • KyuSword for ShiShi Red
  • KyuSpear for Sasori Orange
  • KyuClaw for Ookami Blue
  • KyuCrossbow for Tenbin Gold
  • KyuAxe for Oushi Black
  • KyuSickle for Hebitsukai Silver
  • KyuRapier for Chameleon Green
  • KyuShot for Washi Pink
  • KyuSlasher for Kajiki Yellow

The mecha this year are known as Voyagers:
  • Shishi Voyager (Lion, red)
  • Ookami Voyager (Wolf, blue)
  • Oushi Voyager (Bull, black)
  • Chameleon Voyager (Green)
  • Kajiki Voyager (Swordfish, yellow)
  • Sasori Voyager (Scorpion, orange)
  • Tenbin Voyager (Libra, gold)
  • Hebitsukai Voyager (Orphiuchus, silver)
  • Washi Voyager (Eagle, pink)
When five Voyagers combine, they form the giant robo KyurenOh!
According to the combination, KyurenOh can have different modes/forms. Currently known are one made of Shishi, Ookami, Oushi, Chameleon & Kajiki as one form, and Shishi, Sasori, Tenbin, Hebitsukai & Washi being another.

For the first time ever, a Sentai with 9 heroes to start!

SH series 1-9. Each is priced at 900 yen. Release February 11th.

KyuTama Gattai 01,03,05,07,09 DX KyurenOh:
Priced at 7,980 yen. Releases in February. Composed of ShishiVoyager (Body/Head), OokamiVoyager (Left Leg), OushiVoyager (RightLeg), ChameleonVoyager (Left Arm) and KajikiVoyager Right Arm.) This is the main form of KyurenOh. Arms and Legs can be swapped
for an alternate form, and even more alternate forms can be achieved through additional Voyagers.

ShishiVoyager, OokamiVoyager, OushiVoyager, ChameleonVoyager and KajikiVoyager.

The remaining 4 Voyagers will be sold separately- SasoriVoyager, TenbinVoyager, HebitsukaiVoyager and WashiVoyager.

These 4 can swap out for the arms and legs of KyurenOh's 1st form to give it a second and 3rd form as follows:

Form 2- ShishiVoyager (Head/Body), SasoriVoyager (Right Arm), WashiVoyager (Left Arm), TenbinVoyager (Left Leg), HebitsukaiVoyager (Right Leg)

Form 3- ShishiVoyager (Head/Body), SasoriVoyager (Right Leg), WashiVoyager (Left Leg),
TenbinVoyager (Left Arm), HebitsukaiVoyager (Right Arm)

Each of these Voyagers will be sold for 2,200 yen each, and all release in February.

DX Cockpit Set 01. Priced at 2,100 yen. Releases in March. A set of KyuTama that act as cockpits for the KyuVoyagers. Included in the set are mini figures which can be seated in the cockpits. These KyuTama can be swapped out for those that come with DX KyurenOh to simulate the Kyurangers piloting the mecha.Set 2 is likely to have the remaining 4, and is likely to be released during the second quarter.

Henshin Controller DX SeizaBlaster. Priced at 4,500 yen. Releases February 11th. The Kyurangers' henshin device that has 6 modes. Has lights and sound for all KyuTama. Comes with a slightly different Shishi KyuTama from the one released with KyurenOh.

DX Kyu The Weapon. Priced at 3,980 yen. Releases in February. A set of 3 weapon parts that can be combined to form various weapons for each Kyuranger. (See list above.) Comes with the Bouenkyou KyuTama. Each ranger's KyuTama can be loaded onto the weapon, and it's likely that other KyuTama can be utilized for different power sets and attacks.

DX KyuTama Set 1:

Priced at 700 yen. Releases in March. Includes the Uo and Hitsuji KyuTama. Uo activates a water type attack and Hitsuji seems to induce a sleep or dream state.

Quarter 1. The main selling point for this series is the variety of play you get when adding the 4 additional rangers to our standard number of 5 and their KyuTama. Each KyuTama has a "MawaSlide" function. When the orb is rotated, it shows the symbol of its constellation.

Sounds very cool. I highly doubt it's valid though. These earliest rumours never seem to be.

Hmmmm... yeah, I know it's really early, but clocks? That sounds cool... and could very well bring back wrist morphers at "watches". God I hope that's true.

Definitely. But it was different enough that I figured why not.

Plus, the copyright is usually out around the 25th.

Time is also something Sentai really hasn't played with much. Even Timeranger kind of veered away from it.

Even Den-O, which was about time, kept away from going too far back or forward outside of specials and movies.

I'd love to see something like Legends of Tomorrow, but with Sentai. They'd never do it, but it'd be cool.

To think, it's almost a year since I refused to believe Toei was re-using "Doubutsu Sentai". Doesn't time fly? From the sounds of things, it might do even more.

Wow, it's really been a year? Holy crap.

Anyways, Clock collectibles? Well, I don't hate the idea. But it's odd.

I say after we've had a series of collectible tiny rangers that turn into keys. I retract my 'odd' statement.

i really hope sentai tones down on the team ups for years 41-44(just not go down the rider path) just so something special could happen for the 45th. that said, timeranger not teaming up with these guys at 1point or another would be a bummer.
anyways what ive heard of so far with this rumor, i dont hate it.
and YES, the morphers have to be wrist watches dammit! 6th and/or extra rangers should get 1 of those chain clock necklaces that rappers used to wear.
watch dog kruger anybody?

Previous discussion on the Japanese boards hinted at Time Bokan references for the next sentai, but as we are always talking about a bug sentai, I didn't post it.

If the reference in question was "Time" itself, then it's a little bit more interesting.

So what do we think? Are we ready for another time-based series. Maybe one this time that actually has time travel more than a few times?
I wonder if it'll go full Kabuto & have Clock-Up battles in the rain....

My only request is if its a time travel based series again that they actually time travel. It'd have been a great anniversary series concept to use time travel to visit old series or revive old monsters, but that ship has sailed. Now I'd be happy if they just used time travel to have mecha fights in different periods and locations.

I said a while ago that Timeranger's bonus episode, where they went back in time and just did a recap of each series, really lent itself to that very idea. One of Sentai's biggest missed opportunities, in my opinion.

This could be interesting. Perhaps all the rangers are from various time periods, or at least themed on them? Assuming we keep with the pattern of a three-person team after an anniversary series, we could easily have a Past Ranger, Present Ranger, and Future Ranger. If it's a five, then it could go Prehistoric Ranger, Medieval Ranger, Industrial Ranger, Modern Ranger, Future Ranger.

This all day long. I know that there's a couple new shows coming out that deal with time travel. I want a series that spans different periods so bad. Timeless is one that major events are being changed that affect the present. I wouldn't mind something along those lines.

Super Sentai has used Batteries, Mini-Trains, Big CD's, Cards, Keys, Memory-Card, Plastic Shuriken's and Finally Cubes.

And get me started on Kaman Rider's LOL

Clock's is not as odd as you think looking from the past.

The time travel could be done like Gokaiger traveling to meet past sentai.

It wouldn't be too expensive. Just have the actors basically cosplay every time period they enter.

If it's a five, then it could go Prehistoric Ranger, Medieval Ranger, Industrial Ranger, Modern Ranger, Future Ranger.
I like that idea but I don't know if they'd do another fish out water cast again. Because it'd be neat to have a five man team of four rangers from different eras and a fifth being the present with sixth ranger coming from the future.

Otherwise a three person team of a past, present, and future ranger would be neat too.

Knowing Toei though, if it is time that will just mean clocks and it'll not even use time travel at all. I'd settle for just basic time based gimmicks, like freezing time or reversing time or even the old paradox where they find out they were destined to do something.

And get me started on Kaman Rider's LOL

Clock's is not as odd as you think looking from the past.
A full clock may be a clunky collectible gimmick because it has to work into the toys somehow as well but watches could work instead. Or clock faces that can be slipped onto a watch, that seems way easier and more appealing to kids.

A large disc with moveable hands is an easy enough toy to make. Add a specific design to the face and you've got a collectible. Add in a time limit to how long a clock can be used, and you've got a story reason to add more clocks to the action and get kids wanting more clocks for their collections.

Ninninger and Zyuohger were both officially unveiled on Boxing Day. So I'd put that down as a good chance for Sentai 41 to be unveiled on. When we got the names and catalogue scans I don't know.
