The Batman (No Ben Affleck confirmed!) June 25, 2021

Directed by Matt Reeves

Updated: 8/23/2017

==========================================

Anyway, the rumor has just started for a new Batman film. So, here.... Will Smith may join Ben Affleck's Batman movie.

When Warner Bros first announced that "Man of Steel 2" was going to introduce Batman and pave the way for a Justice League two-part movie, the move looked like the fastest way to catch up with Marvel's strategy of moving in Phases. Now, the idea of featuring superhero teams without stopping for individual origin films looks like a full-on strategy for how to make the most of the DC properties.

Will Smith, who recently wrapped his part as Deadshot in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad," is psyched about being part of a massive superhero cinematic universe.

Since he signed on for multiple appearances as Deadshot, the rumble behind the scenes is that he wants to be an ongoing part of Warner's and DC's plans.

Right now as per my sources IF things pan out Will Smith may join Ben Affleck in his solo Batman movie, which might not end up being so solo. If Deadshot joins the Bat in the movie, it will be for a "major role" for a "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" scenario.

Nothing's locked down completely, but most of the involved parties seem enthusiastic. Getting Deadshot and Batman to join forces in a movie isn't nearly as hard as landing two A-list actors like Smith and Affleck in one movie (that Affleck will likely direct), and could be another Batman V Superman sized event instead of just another entry into the canon of Batman films.

Batman and Deadshot teamed up in the comics as recently as this year's Batman: Arkham Knight comics (starting with issue 23).

I put nothing past Warner Bros at this point.

Though, I would say (20??) would have been a more accurate thread title.

WB / DC unlike MARVEL owns all of their characters. Taking advantage of them crossing over more makes sense for the WB / DC. Its about time they start taking advantage of that

It's true, because at the moment their mantra is "...just add Batman!" to everything. Not having the rights to Spidey, X-Men, FF actually made Marvel turn lesser known properties into characters we care about, whereas DC never has to worry because they have Batman.

Speaking of, there's not really much any of us can say until we've actually seen Ben Affleck as Batman in BvS.

Batman instantly sells, can't blame WB for that.

As long as he doesn't do a growly Batman voice, I'm on board.

The title is most likely will be The Batman. Not confirm yet.

Ben Affleck has already written a script for solo Batman film.

When 2x Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck was first cast as Bruce Wayne, the Batman, in Warner Bros.' Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, many fans were up in arms with the casting choice. However, after watching him in action last week in the highly controversial and critically panned Zack Snyder-directed film, fans found some solace in his performance and were fairly unanimous in declaring him the best live-action Batman to ever grace the silver screen.

It's been rumored ever since Affleck signed on that a solo Batman movie, tentatively titled The Batman, was definitely in the works with Affleck collaborating with DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns on the script, but an expected release date and/or any details on the plot, outside of it being possibly based on the Batman: Under The Red Hood story arc, were few and far between.

The Hollywood Reporter, in an interview with Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell, the co-CEOs of William Morris Endeavor (WME), Affleck's talent agency, have learned that in addition to being signed on for two Justice League films, Affleck has already finished a script for an yet-to-be announced solo Batman feature: "He's contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape, there's a script that he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that's out there as an option." Whitesell later added that Affleck would also be reprising his role for a cameo in the David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad, which is due out this August.

My only hope is that, if this solo film turns into a franchise, we'll eventually see more Batfamily members than just Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batgirl/Oracle. Give Tim, Damian, Stephanie, and Cass some love too (granted, Damian's been getting a lot of love both in and outside of the comics lately...sometimes at Tim's expense)

Ben Affleck has been implying he wants the solo movie from the get go. I can't imagine Affleck really needs Snyder's input to do this movie. If anything, having Snyder further involved would probably put him off.

Hopefully BatFleck has the pull to tell Snyder to go fuck himself and stay out of his movie.

Fixed that for you.

Pretty sure that "Untitled DC Film" scheduled for October 2018 is this film. Affleck's films tend to do really good business in the fall. Plus, October tends to be a good luck charm thus far... Gone Girl (didn't direct it but still), Argo, and Gone Baby Gone. The other two non-DC films he has are also scheduled for next October (The Accountant) and October 2017 (Live By Night).
