Professor McGonagall is such a badass she was teaching at Hogwarts 20 years before she was even born :p

Production for the next movie has been delayed till late fall of this year. Maybe this will give them some more time to come up with a better movie.

Not to mention fill in some plot holes. Like who was the McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts when Newt was a student. It cant have been the same one who was head of Gryffindor in Harry's era. She wasn't even born until 1935, and her father was a Muggle. And how old is Creedence supposed to be if he's Dumbledore's brother, since Percival Dumbledore had been in Azkaban since the late 1880s and Kendra Dumbledore died in 1899.

Dan Folger revealed why production for the film has been delayed. Judging by what he's saying I don't know if the film will be released by 2020.

Dan Folger wrote:
Yeah, we start in the fall. The movie is going to be gigantic! The reason we were given is that the movie is bigger than the first two combined. They needed more time to prep and they didn’t want to rush anything so they pushed it back. I can tell you that we are going to Brazil. I don’t really know much…[laughs]. I’ll get a script closer to when we start shooting.

Because they're probably just going to wrap it up in the third one instead of suffering everyone through all 5 they planned for...

An extended version of Crimes of Grindewal (7 minutes longer) will be released:

US - Digital only

UK - Digital AND Blu-ray (not 4K)

Also, the extras for the movie were released and there's more than 7 minutes of deleted scenes on it.

Warner Bros.’ president Kevin Tsujihara acknowledged that the second movie wasn't as good as the first and didn't do as well at the box office either, so they are going to work hard on improving the third one.

Kevin Tsujihara wrote:
The second film didn’t perform as well as the first, but I think we know what we need to do to get the third film hopefully even better than the first one. And J.K. Rowling is really working hard now on that third script, and we’re going to get it right. She has an incredible vision of where she wants to go with this that is incredibly exciting.

The hardest part of the franchise is you have such a big core fan base. That fan base really knows the lore and they want to go deep into these characters. But what you don’t want to do is intimidate people. You want to be able to create a stand-alone movie that’s enjoyable for someone who isn’t steeped in the lore.

So Crimes of Grindelwald is out physically today. Looks like it comes with an extended cut, wonder if that'll make any difference. Also, weirdly enough, B&N has an exclusive version. It comes with an exclusive bonus content about Flamell. Walmart has a niffler Pop keychain, BB their steelbook, and Target has their artbook and case design. Sadly, of course, the movie is at the higher price point of around $25 for just the regular blu ray. The various exclusives more expensive. Sucks when they release the movies at the higher price point when most others are around $20-22. B&N shows theirs at like $26 online, I may consider stopping by today and seeing if it's the same price in store since with my member discount it'd be better than getting the regular blu ray somewhere else. But generally B&N's online prices don't match their instore on such things, so who knows.

This sort of feels like they'd be better off just saying "we made an ooopsy. just roll with it" than trying to retcon their retcon.

I'm not sure if this would make it better or worse...

It was a five film deal, I'm wondering if they just retool it a little to be 3 Fantastic Beast films centred around Newt, plus another two movies without the limitation of that focus.

The next film will be released in November 2021 instead of November 2020. Production begins in the spring of next year. This will give them more time to make a better sequel.

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced the release date for the third Fantastic Beasts film: Nov. 12, 2021. The announcement was made today by Ron Sanders, President, Worldwide Theatrical Distribution and Home Entertainment.

Production on the new film is expected to begin in Spring 2020.

“J.K. Rowling created an awe-inspiring universe that has captivated people of all ages, taking us on an extraordinary magical journey,” said Sanders. “Warner Bros. is so proud to be the cinematic home of the Wizarding World and is excited about the future of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We look forward to bringing the third chapter of the five-film series to audiences around the globe in November 2021.”

“We are incredibly excited about and have confidence in the Fantastic Beasts series,” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “We all believe this release date will give the filmmakers time and space to allow their artistry to truly flourish and deliver the best possible film to our fans.”
