Ralph has transitioned and is now Rachel.

Assuming they handle this properly this actually sounds kind of neat.

Wow, this gives the episode when he was introduced WAY more meaning.

Neat.

Since it's a big part of the movie I wonder if a part of it is about Ed learning to accept her?

Could this be why nick dragged their feet on releasing this for so long? They were afraid of the backlash?

Off the subject, but in regards to the plot didn’t The Fatheads already get canceled a while back (it was the whole plot of the Wacky Deli episodes, which I believe was also the last time we saw Ralph in the series)? I wonder if they’ll acknowledge that at all.

Doubt it, they could have very easily just said "You're not doing that" and it'd be the end of it. Viacom had been courting a Netflix deal for quite sometime before it was announced, they probably shelved them for that as soon as they started negotiations I'm sure hoping in the end that they'll take both this and Zim to series.

Besides, the entire series was basically the writers seeing just how much they could get away with in a syndicated cartoon show so this is about par for the course really.

And apparently it was Nick who urged them to work with GLAAD on the portrayal so it comes across as authentic. Nick's not really a stick in the mud about these types of things.

Makes biological sense for a frog species, too. I'm expecting Jurassic Park memes to follow suit.

This. Ralph gave up on "The Fatheads" because he was done with it; he had done everything he wanted to do with the show and wanted to go into serious art, with the network wanting him to make something new thus leading to "Wacky Deli".

Though at least with Rocko being the one who wants the show revived, maybe it's a commentary on how anything and everything could be revived as a show in this day and age...and being on Netflix which has done some of those, it's sort of meta with what they're doing here.

I wonder if we'll a potshot at that with a new revival called 'Fatter House'.

Its finally up, watching it now, woo.

Edit: finished. I liked it. Felt short, makes want a whole series, but its great to get a taste of what will never be.

I wish I could watch it, but I don't have Netflix. I thought about the trial using Paypal, but I would have to cancel it after the month trial since I have little to no money, so I am still in the waiting game for the online stuff.

Saw this today. Seemed just like it used to be I think (been a while since I watched the original). Did give me some nostalgic feelings.
Is it shot using traditional hand drawn animation or CGI? I initially thought CGI but then after a while I couldn't tell. Maybe my eyes just relaxed.

Considering what the plot is about, do they reference the Wacky Deli two parter at all?

Haven't gotten to the new movie, but I have been watching some of the old series recently. I never really loved it much back in the day, I liked it but thats about it. It was never up there with my love for Invader Zim. I will admit though, I've been enjoying it a lot and appreciating it more now than I ever did.

Watched it. It's just as I thought it would be: like Rocko never left. The plot, the voices, the animation, the sound effects, the music...absolutely everything was spot on.

And the references...OH, the references! I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second because if I did, I'd miss some classic reference to episodes of the show. If there was any character in the show you liked, whether it was Mr. Smitty, the wild pig, the Chameleon Brothers, Dr. Ben Dova, the friggin' sad clown in an iron lung, they were ALL there.

I would LOVE for this to eventually lead to new Rocko episodes, but even if it doesn't, this special was the perfect way to cap off the series, even 20 years later.

There was a jar of mayo in Rocko's fridge.
