Me: Nothing could make me continue UPR past The End. The End is the culmination of everything. I don't care about any new sentai that may pop up, I will not change my mind.

Funny that. I was very surprised when the back story for Zi-o didn't have to having twisted Kamen Riders showing up to try and build a better Dragon.

Mind you had you not ended part one of the end with the Tommy scene I had almost expected a new turn of the Wheel of Time starting in 2017 with the revised PR Movie.

That would have been a fun idea, with the PR Movie Reboot! I

I haven't watched Zi-O yet so I don't quite understand that reference.

Well, that was quite the unexpected turn. I mean, I knew something was going to have to happen, since threads weren't wrapping up as fast as the fight was. I suppose Next Gen technically has a C2D-3 and -4 now, but that leaves just... Dino Thunder and Dino Charge? Guess it didn't take long for everything to fall apart after the war with the Dark One.

Once again, cool Gigazords, and I second that wish for concepts of them. I wish I could draw better, I'd definitely volunteer if I could do it. And on the note of Ryuusouger, I could almost see it as a third dino team unrelated to Tommy or Billy during that final year before everything falls apart - that or a "post-credits" sort of thing, where the Gokaigers set the world straight, and the Ryuusouger's are the first to rise up in the future if Rangers are needed again. After all, to borrow a Transformers Furmanism here, "It never ends..."

Yowza!

So, I just wanna ask if you read my mind at some point. I've had a multi-Megazord idea for years now, as a finale to my long planned and never worked on sequel to Forever Red. Except mine used the Zeo, Lightspeed, Thundersaurus, and an original Megazord along with an "Omni Megaship" (based on Courageous from GoBots.

I'm wondering if Tommy's use of so many Powers to seal the Dark One is what caused the Shattering, now. You've implied a few times in the past that it might NOT have been Billy that caused it, but I always thought that was simply a misdirect. Now... I'm not so sure.

Lastly, on a more personal side of things, are the Mystic Knights going to show up anytime soon? And are the Dino Charge Rangers going to have any reference to what I sent you?

Thanks! Glad that came as a surprise. Things aren't as straightforward as they may seem now, though. And yes, Dino Thunder and Dino Charge are the only teams you haven't seen, but that changes next chapter.

I may take a stab at trying to draw some of the gigazords. The drawings would suck but would at least be...something.

Also, interesting idea with Ryusouger. I'm trying not to think about it yet though. Must finish The End! It won't be done by EOY as planned but end of January should be doable.

Nice to hear from you! DM me and we can discuss.

Nice preview, can't wait to read the rest. Did you introduce Orion or did that happen off screen?

So I'm curious, last I remember the Gokaigers were being held prisoner. Did they escape offscreen or am I misremembering. It might be the latter, it's been awhile since we had a story with them as the sole focus.

Glad you liked it! Sorry, I've been distracted with adult stuff, but everything is back on course now, and I will have a new chapter up today.

The Gokai team met Orion off screen between the end of my Gokai chapters and now. He's modeled after Gokai Silver from the sentai, a fan of Power Rangers and Kamen Riders. Orion isn't his real name but he uses it because he thinks it sounds cool.

Hmmm...this is my bad, I meant to post the chapter where they escaped onto the site. I will get that taken care of.

Chapter 17: Without Scars

Beyond all Space and Time

The Gokai Galleon floated through the shattered remnants of space and time. Within, the Ultimate Power Rangers gathered. They recently used their Ranger Keys to unlock their final Time Shard. But the shard didn’t reveal how reality shattered or how to fix it.

“Now what?” Mat asked. “We don’t have any leads on any more Time Shards. We already have all the Grand Powers. And we still don’t know what made reality shatter, let alone how to fix it.”

“Maybe...” Kira said as she looked through the viewport. “Maybe we don’t have all the Grand Powers.”

“What do you mean?” Seth asked.

“The Rail Rangers,” she said.

Orion’s face lit up. “That’s right! Tyler, you were one of those Rail Rangers-- which I’m still trying not to laugh about, by the way. Anyway, we don’t have that power set yet. Maybe those powers are the final piece we need!”

Tyler shook his head. He didn’t remember his life before the shattering of reality, only glimpses, including a glimpse of his apparent death. But when he thought of the Rail Rangers, he felt…

“No,” he said, dismissing the thought. “Those weren’t even technically Ranger powers, just some kid’s imagination. There has to be another way.”

Mat sighed. “Okay, but keep in mind, we’re running out of time. And by that I mean literal time. You know those broken fragments of reality we skip through? There aren’t many pieces left. It won’t be long before…”

“Before we vanish too,” Kym said.

“We’ll find a way.” Tyler sat in his chair and leaned back. “We always do.”

Angel Grove, 2019 AD

Tommy walked into the kitchen and kissed his wife, Ashley, on the forehead. “Morning, beautiful.”

“Ugh, don’t call me that.” Pregnant, she slid her hand over her belly. “I feel huge.”

“You’re beautiful,” Tommy said. “You have that whole...pregnant-woman glow about you.”

She smiled and rolled her eyes. “You sweat and throw up all morning. You’ll have that glow too.”

Tommy kissed her cheek and moved to the kitchen table.

He sat down, opened his laptop, and started making some last-minute notes before the start of school. “Aw man, half-days are the worst. Not sure what I can actually teach my kids in 20 minutes.”

His phone rang, and he answered, placing it on speaker. “Connor, do you know how many kids call their teachers at 6 a.m.?”

“Uh, I’m thinking it’s a short list, Dr. O.”

Tommy smiled. “Go with that instinct.”

“Anyway, listen...you know how we were up late fighting that Giganoid-”

“No.”

“Huh?”

Tommy smiled and rolled his eyes. “I can’t write you a slip to miss school. I’m your teacher, not your parent.”

“Yeah, well...could I sleep through your class at least?”

“See you in a bit, Conner,” Tommy said with a smile, hanging up.

Ashley nudged him. “Proud of you.”

“For what?” Tommy asked.

“For not giving him the ‘When-I-was-a-Ranger’ speech.”

“Hey,” Tommy said defensively. “I don’t have a ‘When-I-was-a-Ranger’ speech.”

“When I was a Ranger,” Ashley teased, imitating her husband. “We had to fight giant monsters with our bare hands, and then walk 50 miles to school, barefoot in the snow the next morning.”

He sighed and kissed her. “I love you.”

“I know. Now go to work, you goof. And remember, we’re meeting Trini and Jonathan for dinner.”

***

Mikhail, a Heavenly Saint in human form, rubbed his eyes and looked out upon the city. He stood on a skyscraper in the heart of Angel Grove Central. Everything looked right...and wrong at the same time. The saint remembered Angel Grove’s destruction. Yet here it stood, without even a trace of Demon City.

Further, he sensed the presence of Rangers and Riders who died during the Second Countdown to Destruction, as well as during the war against the Dark One. Trini. Jonathan. The Turbo Rangers. The list went on. How could they be alive, as if they never died?

“This…” he whispered to himself. “This isn’t right.”

He reached out with his mind for answers. He felt Tommy and Ashley. Tyler. Nick. And...Simon.

Through his mind’s eye, Mihail saw Simon standing on the rooftop of the Hayate Way dojo. The ranger narrowed his eyes and looked, somehow, straight at Mikhail.

“Who are you…?” Simon asked. “Why are you watching me?”

Simon triggered a burst of TK energy that knocked Mikhail backward. His mind swirled, and he nearly collapsed.

Mikhail breathed deep and tried to shake the image from his mind. But he couldn't. “What has happened…?”

***

Simon stood on the rooftop of the Hayate Way dojo. His friends Justin, Rachel and Kou walked up to meet him.

“What was that?” Justin asked. “You made the whole building shake. Again.”

Simon smiled and shrugged. “Sorry about that. It felt like something was watching me.”

“Well that sounds ominous,” Kou said. “Should we talk to Tommy?”

“No,” Simon said, shaking his head. “It was probably nothing. Besides, he has enough to worry about with his Dino Thunder team.”

“He cares about us too, ya know,” Rachel said, placing a hand on his arm.

“I know,” Simon said with a sigh. “Anyway...are we still on to meet up with Blake and Hunter?”

“Yep,” Rachel said. “They’re waiting for us.”

“Then let’s go,” Simon said.

As he joined his friends, he couldn’t shake a nagging feeling in the back of his mind, like a whisper and shout he couldn’t make out. A voice that boomed and hissed, that shook mountains, yet sounded as quiet as stillness. The voice of the Dark One.

SOON.

***

Tommy dismissed his students at the end of the half-day. After they left, he sat down and shuffled some papers, trying to organize the mess that was his desk.

The afternoon news played on the classroom TV. The program caught Tommy’s attention with a few key words.

“INET today plans to bring its new Enetron Matrix online, here in Angel Grove Central,” the news reporter said.

Tommy perked up his head. Enertron Matrix?

On the news, Miss. Fairweather stood at a podium and addressed a crowd of reporters. Max, the former Red Lightspeed Rescue Ranger, and mentor to the Overdrive Task Force Titan Rangers, stood alongside her.

“Today marks an historic event, years in the making,” Miss. Fairweather said. “The Enetron Matrix will make Angel Grove the first energy independent city in America, and serve as the hub for disaster recovery efforts across the globe. With the power of the Enetron Matrix, we can rebuild homes, towns, and entire cities in a matter of hours, if not less. And soon, we’ll have an operational Matrix in every major city in the world.”

Miss Fairweather continued the conference. Tommy felt more and more unnerved by her every word. Billy at the center of a world-wide power network? That wouldn’t end well. And how did this Emetron Matrix work? It sounded like it harnessed the One Power somehow. That could prove dangerous.

Tommy remembered the vision he saw years ago, after the Second Countdown to Destruction. A city in ruins, and a giant Kirin at its center, breathing fire. The Kirin represented Billy, the former Kirin Ranger.

“Something’s not right,” Tommy whispered.

***

Dr. William “Billy” Cranston stood in his INET office in Angel Grove Central. He dimmed the lights and tinted the windows, which looked out from the top floor of a skyscraper.

Holograms shimmered to life around him. Each hologram appeared as a black slab with a number.

Cranston spoke to them. “You’ve all felt the shift to the timeline-”

A voice interrupted from one of the slabs, which pulsed with each word. “The core equations haven’t changed.”

“Confirmed,” spoke a voice from another slab. “But we cannot risk further alterations to the Prime Timeline.”

“Agreed,” spoke another slab. “It is a shame our progress has become so...muddled. I blame you, Dr. William Cranston, for this failure. As reality tore itself apart, as war waged against this so-called Dark One, you did nothing. Now our plans are in-”

“My plans,” Cranston said. “Don’t speak to me like I’m a child.”

“Then stop acting like one.”

Billy lifted his hand. Time and space distorted around his palm.

Screams sounded from the tablets. Loud, screeching wails.

The images distorted and vanished.

***

Tommy met with Simon at the Hayate Way. They walked through the courtyard and talked, getting straight to the point.

“You’ve got a mission for me?” Simon asked.

“If you want it,” Tommy said. “Billy’s planning to bring his Enertron Matrix online. I’m worried about what might happen afterward.”

“For any reason other than it’s Billy?” Simon asked.

Tommy nodded. “It sounds like he’s tapping into the One Power and using it as an energy source. That could be dangerous, you can’t harness the driving force of time and space and use it as fuel. If something were to go wrong…” He shook his head. “I don’t know...I just know it’s dangerous.”

“You want us to shut it down?”

“Not yet, and not unless we have to. We need to learn more first,” Tommy said. “Take your team in and scout the place. Find out as much about this Enetron Matrix as you can. Then we’ll figure out what we need to do.”

“Sounds like a plan,” Simon said.

Tommy nodded. “Just be sure to be careful. There’s something...I don't know. There’s something off about all of this.”

***

Bandora summoned the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs millions of years ago. The impact created a parallel world, Dino Earth, where dinosaurs survived. On Dino Earth, the enchanted asteroid spawned a race of microscopic beings that evolved into full-grown villains: the Evorian.

Months ago, the Evorian began attacking our Earth, and Tommy assembled his Dino Thunder team to stop them. Tommy created the Dino Thunder powers while his mind inhabited the body of a Dino Earth native about 14 years ago. Once Tommy returned to his Earth, though, the Dino Thunder Powers-- harnessed through Dino Gems from Bandora’s asteroid-- remained dormant. Until the Evorian attacked. The villains’ presence awakened the Dino Gems’ powers.

Connor McKnight, Ethan James, and Kira Ford formed the core of the Dino Thunder team: Connor, the Red Ranger; Ethan, the Blue Ranger; and Kira, the Yellow Ranger. Tommy had a gem of his own as the Dino Thunder Black Ranger. And a fifth Dino Gem belonged to a teen named Trent, who initially fought against the others as the White Ranger, Dino Slayer.

Trent fought against the Evorian now, but didn’t necessarily consider himself a part of the team, much to Kira’s dismay.

Kira walked along with Connor and Ethan. They did their best to cheer her up with their usual antics...which didn’t work, so much.

She sighed and rolled her eyes. “No, Connor. For the last time, we can’t surprise attack the Seraph Rangers.”

“Oh, come on,” Connor said. “Just for fun! It’s not like we’d actually hurt them.”

“Dude, they’re on our side,” Ethan said. “If you want to attack someone so bad you might as well go after RPM. Or Dino Charge...talk about a copyright rip-off.”

Connor shrugged. “They just bother me, is all.”

Suddenly, the skies flashed like strobe lights, and the air sizzled with static. Three shapes crashed onto the streets in front of the rangers. The shapes sizzled with heat and smoke as they stood, revealing their true form: White Jokers.

Ethan knitted his brow. “Those don’t look like Evorian.”

Another figure leapt from the rooftops and landed behind the teens: Trent.

“That’s because they’re not,” he said as he walked towards his sometimes-teammates. “I don’t know what they are, but I just fought two of them, and more are popping up across the city.”

Conner armed his morpher. “Well okay then. Do we want to talk about it some more? Or do we want to fight?”

As if to answer, the White Jokers leaned forward and hissed, ready for battle.

“That’s what I thought,” Conner said.

Conner, Ethan, and Kira stepped forward.

“Dino Thunder! Power up! Ha!”

Energy erupted around them as they morphed into their armor and snapped into fighting stances.

“Tyranno Ranger! Dino Red!”

“Tricera Ranger! Dino Blue!”

“Ptera Ranger! Dino Yellow!”

“Thundersaurus Task Force…” the Red Ranger called out. Together, they shouted: “Dino Rangers!”

Trent lifted his bracer. “White Ranger. Dino Power.”

Energy flashed around him as he morphed into his armor and shifted into a fighting stance.

“Drago Ranger. Dino Slayer.”

The White Ranger dashed through blurs of motion, back and forth, slashing the White Jokers with bursts of spark.

A White Joker grabbed the Ranger and threw him at his teammates. Dino Red, Dino Blue, and Dino Yellow dove aside; Dino Slayer crashed and skid across the street.

The other two White Jokers pounced. One jump-kicked Dino Red to the ground. The other slashed Dino Blue with a burst of spark, whipping him off his feet.

Dino Yellow moved in. “Ptera Daggers!”

She slashed towards the nearest White Joker. But the villain blocked and slashed her to the ground.

“Kira!” Dino Slayer shouted as he climbed to his feet.

The White Ranger armed his Drago Sword and charged. But a White Joker kicked him with enough force to hurl him across the street; the Ranger smashed through a storefront.

***

Tommy barely had time to leave the Hayate Way before his communicator toned. He sighed and answered.

“This is Tommy, go ahead.”

“Dr. O!” Conner shouted through the com. “We could seriously use some back-up.”

“Alright…” Tommy said. “Hang tight, I’m on my way.”

***

Tommy dashed to the scene. Ahead, he saw the three White Jokers battle the four Dino Thunder Rangers. The strange monsters moved like feral beasts, striking with powerful blows that the Rangers could barely counter.

The White Jokers seemed familiar somehow, but Tommy couldn’t place them. Were they part of some random attack? Or something more?

Tommy armed his morpher.

“Dino Thunder! Power up! Ha!” He inserted his key into his morpher, sparking a surge of energy that wrapped around his body, forming his armor.

He snapped into his fighting stance.

“Brachio Ranger! Dino Black!”

A White Joker took notice and jumped at the Black Ranger.

The Black Ranger leapt through the air and armed his weapon.

“Brachio Staff!”

Dino Black slashed the White Joker from the air with a burst of spark.

The Black Ranger somersaulted through midair and landed, just in time to block a flurry of claw slashes from the second White Joker. Dino Black swung upward, slashing the monster with a burst of spark. He dodged a blow and spun forward with a reverse side-kick, bashing the monster off its feet.

The Black Ranger hopped forward with a downward swing, striking the third White Joker with a burst of spark.

A nagging feeling twisted in the back of the Black Ranger’s mind, even in the midst of the battle. Why does this feel so...wrong? Unbalanced?

The five Rangers regrouped, as did the three White Jokers.

The monsters pulled cards from their belts, and slid the cards through their bucklers. Each buckler spoke a different command.

“DORA PUMPKIN WRAPPER”

“DORA RHINO”

“DORA STAG BEETLE”

The three White Jokers transformed into copies of monsters from the past: the Pumpkin Wrapper, Rhino Blaster, and Staf Beetle.

Pumpkin Wrapper snapped a vine that wrapped around the five Rangers, squeezing them tight The villain channeled energy pulses through the vine; the pulses smashed the Rangers with bursts of spark, thrashing their armor.

The Black Ranger tightened his hands into fists. “Super Dino Mode!”

He shifted into Super Dino Mode with a pulse of golden energy, tearing through the vone.

The Black Ranger leapt through the air and angled his descent towards Pumpkin Wrapper. He swung his arms downward and landed, slashing the monster with bursts of spark.

Rhino Blaster tackled the Black Ranger. But he Black Ranger slashed the monster aside.

Stag Beetle fired jagged bursts of energy and power.

The Black Ranger dodged.

The White Ranger leapt through the air and landed with a chop, shattering the monster’s pincers with massive bursts of spark.

The White Ranger and Black Ranger pressed forward with side-kicks, bashing the monster off its feet.

Suddenly, the skies flashed like strobe lights, and the air sizzled with static.

The White Jokers vanished.

Dino Red pointed towards their last location. “You better run!”

Dino Yellow ignored him. “OK, what was that about?” She looked to her mentor. “Dr. O, do you have any idea what just happened? What were those things?”

The Black Ranger shook his head. “I don’t know. I just don’t know…”

***

Beyond all Space and Time

Tyler stood on the sail of the Gokai Galleon. Strands of color and light swept through the darkness around him.

He carried the Time Shard unlocked by Dino Thunder’s Grand Power, wondering if he missed something within its images.

The ranger’s communicator beeped, interrupting his thoughts. He flipped open his morpher to answer the call.

“This is Tyler.”

“Hey, Ty,” Vasco sad, his voice light and mocking. “Can I call you Ty? We never did establish that…”

Tyler narrowed his eyes. “What do you want, Vasco.”

“Tsk, tsk. You’re so cranky these days. You never used to be this way,” Vasco said. “What happened, Ty?”

“I’m really not in the mood.”

“You never are,” Vasco said. “At least, not anymore.”

“What do you want?”

“I have something that might interest you…”

“Doubtful.”

“You’ve spent all this time searching for the Grand Powers of the Rangers. And you’ve found them,” Vasco said. “Or have you?”

Tyler cursed beneath his breath. Kira was right...Rail Ranger Keys. Of course, Tyler didn’t want to admit that. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. And frankly, I don’t care.”

“Oh, but you will care,” Vasco said. “These Keys I’ve found are special. Rail Ranger Keys. They’re not like the others…”

“If I want them, I’ll beat you senseless and take them,” Tyler said. “I’m not playing any games.”

“It’s no game,” Vasco said. “Come back to me, Tyler. Come for these strange Rail Ranger Keys. Let’s meet again...for the last time.”

Angel Grove, 2019 AD

Tommy stepped into his home and flipped on the light switch. But the lights stayed off.

He knitted his brow. “That can’t be good…”

Most would assume a power outage or circuit-breaker problem. Not Tommy. His mind went to the worst-case scenario. An intruder.

“Hello, Tommy.”

Tommy snapped around and hurled a bolt of Ki at the intruder-- Mikhail.

The saint dodged, barely, and the blast tore through a wall.

Mikhail lifted his hand with pulse of light; the blast knocked Tommy to the floor.

The ranger climbed to his feet and armed his Dino Morpher. But before he could attack, Mikhail appeared inches in front of him and placed a hand on his forehead.

“Remember,” he said. The saint’s eyes flashed with holy energy.

Tommy screamed and collapsed to his knees, retching. His memories flooded back as if bursting through a dam. He remembered everything, from the Second Countdown to Destruction to his duel with the Dark One.

His heart pounded in his chest.

His head spun.

Grief gripped his throat.

“It can’t be…” he said between breaths. “None of this...none of this is real?”

“It is real,” Mikhail said. “Real enough.”

“What the hell does that mean?” Tommy asked.

“This world is real, but...new, and temporary, at best,” Mikhail explained. “All of Creation was sick and dying, fracturing. That wounded reality, that decaying timeline, is still there. This reality is like a band aid laid over it. Eventually, the wound will fester and tear open, ripping through this world as well.”

Tommy climbed to his feet, rubbing his brow. “The last thing I remember...trying to seal the Dark One...”

“Something happened in that moment,” Mikhail said. “I don’t understand what. But in that moment, this world was born.”

Tommy sighed and took a seat at his table. “This is...I mean...what the hell…” He rubbed his eyes. “What the hell…”

“I know this may seem overwhelming,” Mikhail said. “But we have to focus. Something is still causing all of reality to shatter.”

“What could possibly…” His mind started to wonder, back and forth between memories of the two timelines. Then he remembered the newscast from the morning. “Billy.”

Tommy stood, cursing beneath is breath. “I should have figured this out years ago. It’s not the Dark One, some cosmic force or some grand villain. Whatever Billy’s been playing with, whatever he’s planning, he’s the one who breaks all of creation.”

“Tommy, it’s important that you not jump to conclusions. Your mind is still adapting to the stress of-”

Vertigo struck Tommy, and he nearly fell, grabbing the chair for support. He sighed and breathed deep, trying to calm himself. “Okay...okay.”

His mind drifted again, this time to the champions killed during the Second Countdown to Destruction and the war against the Dark One. They all lived now. Or did they?

“What about…” Tommy started to ask, his heart still pounding. He remembered champions dying during the Second Countdown to Destruction, and again during the war with the Dark One. But now...all those champions lived as if their deaths never happened. “What about the ones who didn’t make it. Trini? Jonathan? Kim? Adam?”

“Death is a powerful force,” Mikhail said. “Those who passed during the Second Countdown to Destruction, and the war against the Dark One, passed. They exist now only as echoes of their former selves.”

Tommy closed his eyes, his mind darting back and forth, giving him mental whiplash.

“Simon…” Tommy whispered.

Mikhail nodded. “He remembers nothing. But everything that happened, happened. His death and struggle through Hell. His corruption. The warping of his mind and soul. It is only a matter of time before that corruption overtakes him once again.”

“Great, and I just sent him out on a mission…” Tommy said, rubbing his eyes. “So everything’s changed, but not changed.”

“From what I’ve learned…” Mikhail explained. “Simon never turned to evil in this timeline. The Dark One’s seals were never broken. And Angel Grove was never destroyed. Those are the key differences between this… ‘band-aide’ timeline and the main reality.”

“We’re not calling it the ‘Band-Aide Timeline,’” Tommy said.

“I only meant-”

“I know, I know,” Tommy said. “I’ve…”

Then it struck him: Kimberly was alive in this “band-aide” timeline. And Tyler still lived with her.

“I...I have to go.”

Mikhail knitted his brow. “To where?”

“Florida, to talk to Kimberly...and my son.”

Ah, Vasco, I remember you mentioning him in the other thread. If I remember right you mentioned you had to write an introduction for him before he was introduced. Obviously, that was before you decided to skim over the Gokai adaption stuff. Will we see anything in relation to understanding his character and history? It can be inferred that he had a similar to backstory to Basco but do you plan on fleshing it out at all?

Are you kidding? I love answering questions!!!!!

Not next chapter, but the one after that, we will find out all the Billy answers. The "you don't know what you're fighting for" line comes later.

I never wrote a Gokai chapter with the Seraph team showing up.

You will definitely learn about Basco, in parallel to the Billy revelations. Tyler/Basco, Tommy/Billy.

Anywho...I got distracted again. More grown-up stuff, and I got into a Star Trek mood, which took away some of my free time. You will have a chapter before the end of the month. In that chapter, expect to see all of SPD, from across the galaxy...as well as some Star Trek-inspired space battles.

Oh yeah! I was going to do a straightforward adaptation of the Gokaiger and Goseiger team-up but decided not to. Good catch...

Anyway, sorry I am behind on posting. I can't blame adult stuff-- I've been distracted by Elder Scrolls Online, comic books, TV, and movies. Finally watched all of Ninja Steel and Super Ninja Steel (liked it!). Saw an early showing of Shazam (liked it!). Excited about Beast Morphers but have no way of watching. We don't have cable and there's nowhere to purchase the episodes.

So...yeah. I'll get back on track, thanks for your patience.

Still alive...

You'll notice on the first post in this thread, I've updated my ETA to finish to end-of-2019. I can't believe it is freaking June already. Sorry to those of you who have been waiting. Should've finished this thing while I was still in college...

Here are some BIG preview chunks of the next chapter:

PREVIEW ONE

Beyond all Space and Time
After the Shattering of Reality

Tyler sat in his chair on the main deck of the Gokai Galleon. He leaned back casually, as if not weighed down by the responsibility of saving all existence.

The ranger finished telling his team about the message from Vasco. The villain had a final set of Ranger Keys-- the Rail Ranger Keys-- and challenged Tyler to claim them. Tyler planned to go to Vasco, take the Keys, and use them to learn the secret of how reality shattered.

His teammates didn’t exactly care for his plan.

Mat shook his head. “So your plan is to go at Vasco head-on? Take the Rail Ranger Keys by force?”

Tyler nodded, smirking. “Best to keep things simple.”

“That’s a little too simple,” Mat said.

Orion placed a hand on Mat’s shoulder. “Come on, Mat. Some of the best plans in Ranger history were off-the-cuff.”

“I hate that you’re a walking textbook when it comes to this stuff,” Mat said, only half joking.

Suddenly, explosions sounded from outside, and the Galleon shook.

Alarms blared, and Navi screamed.

Mat went to the main monitor and pulled up an image: Two of Vasco’s Roids, Sunroid and Goldroid, stood within a ruined cityscape that appeared to float in the middle of a shredded Nebula.

Seth looked to Tyler. “Apparently Vasco didn’t feel like waiting.”

***

The Rangers morphed. The Ultimate Silver Ranger leapt into his own zord, the Q-Rex Drill. The others rushed into their cockpit.

The Red Ranger grasped his wheel. “Ultimate fusion.”

“ULLLLLTIMATE FUSION!” The ship split into five different zords, which twirled through the air and combined into a robo.

“Ultimate Megazord!” the Rangers shouted.

The Megazord dashed alongside the Q-Rex Drill.

Inside the Q-Rex Drill, the Silver Ranger pulled out his Green Dragon Ranger Key and slid it into his wheel. “Ranger Key, set!”

The zord shifted shape and formed a T-Rex robo, roaring with power.

“Q-Rex Dinozord!” the Silver Ranger shouted.

The Dinozord and Ultimate Megazord moved to attack.

But Goldroid fired a wave of energy, encasing the two zords in sheets of gold metal.

“Oh, come on!” the Green Ranger shouted.

The Silver Ranger smiled beneath his helmet. “It’s just like that time the Midas Hound Goldarized the Zeo-”

“We’re not losing to over-sized dolls,” the Red Ranger said. “Break out. Now.”

The Rangers pulled out their SPD Keys and inserted them into their wheels.

“Ranger Keys, set!” they shouted, turning the keys.

The Megazord transformed, shattering through the golden entrapment and shifting into the armor of SPD mode.

“Ultimate DECA Megazord!” the Rangers shouted.

The Silver Ranger slid his Dino Slayer Key into his wheel. “Ranger Key, set!”

His zord transformed, shattering through the golden plating and shifting into Dino Thunder mode.

“Q-Rex Megazord!” the Silver Ranger shouted.

“Let’s hit ‘em hard,” the Red Ranger said. He turned the Key in his wheel, arming the gatling cannons in the Megazord’s arms and legs. “Judgement Strike!”

The cannons fired rapid darts of energy that blasted the monsters with bursts of spark, sending them staggering backward.

Before the Rangers could attack again, the giants leapt aside. Solaroid fired bursts of solar energy, smashing the Q-Rex Megazord with bursts of spark.

The Rangers inserted their Mystic Keys into their wheels and turned the keys. “Ranger Keys, set!”

The Megazord flashed with energy. Compartments flipped open, and the Mystic Dragon appeared on the Megazord’s chest, wings spread.

“Ultimate Mystic Megazord!” the Rangers shouted.

The Megazord shot into the air.

The Rangers turned their keys. “Mystic Bind!”

The dragon flashed with golden energy, separated from the Megazord, and shot towards the Roids. The dragon circled the monsters and surrounded them with three rings of magical power. The rings tightened, binding the monsters together.

The Silver Ranger turned the key in his wheel. “Final Strike!” he shouted. “Triple Drill Attack!”

The Megazord spawned duplicates of its other two versions; they combined their three drills into one massive drill attack that speared towards the monsters.

Suddenly, the monsters broke from their bindings. The magic rings shattered into shards of energy and discharges of power, blasting the Q-Rex Megazord backward before its attack could land.

The monsters started to spin while standing back-to-back. They formed a tornado of power that dashed back-and-forth past the Megazords, bashing the robos with bursts of spark.

The Ultimate Megazord staggered backward.

“Hard ‘no’ to that,” the Red Ranger said.

The Rangers pulled out their RPM Keys.

“Ranger Keys, set!” the Rangers shouted as they inserted their keys into their wheel. “Turbo Falconzord!”

The Megazord summoned the Turbo Falconzord, Grand Power of the RPM Rangers. The zord split apart into separate components and energized with power. Shifting shape, the Ultimate Megazord and Q-Rex Megazord combined, fused by the Turbo Falconzord.

“Ultimate Legendary Megazord!” the six Rangers shouted in their joined cockpit.

***

Below, Vasco sighed as he watched the battle unfold. “Maybe I was a tad-bit too generous with the Grand Powers I let you have…”

He sighed again, more dramatically this time. “And I’m all out of Roids...aren’t I, Sally?” He looked to his bamboo-like companion. “Looks like I’ll have to get creative…”

***

“Ultimate Missile Barrage!” the Rangers shouted.

The Megazord fired missiles from its fingertips. The blasts exploded against the Roids with massive bursts of spark, sending them staggering backward.

“Ultimate Drill!”

The Megazord spun its drill arm, which crackled with power and slashed through the Roids.

“Flying Fist!”

The Megazord launched its fist like a cannonball. The fist punctured through the monsters with bursts of spark, ripping them apart; the monsters collapsed to their knees as secondary explosions vaporized them into ash.

“Eyes up,” the Red Ranger said to his team. “Vasco’s around here somewhere…”

***

“Well, Sally,” Vasco said theatrically while waving his blaster. “On with the show we go...”

He blasted Sally in the chest; the baboon crashed onto her back, smoke sizzling from her armor.

Tyler and his teammates leapt to the floating rooftop where the two villains stood.

“Vasco,” Tyler said, eyes narrowed.

“Hey Ty-Ty,” Vasco said, smiling. “Sorry you had to see that.”

Kira shook her head with disbelief. “Did you just...You just shot one of your own people?!”

Vasco shrugged. “Now that she’s out of Roids, she’s not much use…” The villain smiled at Tyler and gave a mock salute. “We’ll do this again soon.”

Vasco stepped backward and teleported away with a blur of energy.

Nearby, Sally rolled onto her back, smoke sizzling from her cracked armor.

Tyler looked down at the fallen hench-monkey, betrayed by Vasco. He hesitated briefly. “Bring her back to the ship.”

“Huh?” Mat asked. “She’s a bad-guy.”

“Vasco...abandoned her,” Tyler said. “We won’t do the same.”

Tommy still remembered the last time he spoke with Kimberly -- in both timelines. Kimberly hid her pregnancy from Tommy, and Tommy didn’t react well when he learned the truth, years after Tyler’s birth.

In the Prime Timeline, Tommy never had a chance to make things right. Kimberly died during the Second Countdown to Destruction. But in this “Band-Aide” timeline, Kimberly still lived. And Tommy needed to see her.

He knocked on her door, and she answered, awkwardly. Tommy had let her know he was coming, but still. What could you say after years of silence following a failed relationship?

“Uh...hi,” Tommy said.

“Hi,” Kimberly said, leaning against the door. “Do you, um...want to come in?”

“Oh, uh...sure.”

Kimberly stepped aside and let Tommy into her small apartment. “Can I get you something to drink?”

“Uh, no, that’s okay,” Tommy said, smiling awkwardly.

“So…” Kimberly said. “What brings you here? Your call sounded...urgent.”

Tommy nodded. “Just your typical end-of-the-world stuff.”

“I see…” Kimberly sounded distance. “You know...I still haven’t changed my mind, Tommy. I don’t want Tyler to be a part of some ‘epic struggle’ of good vs. evil.”

“I know,” Tommy said. “I just...I’m his father. I wanted to see him. A boy shouldn’t have to grow up without his dad.”

“He already did. He’s a teenager. You missed his childhood.”

“And who’s fault is-” Tommy stopped himself and took a deep breath. “Look, I didn’t come here to rehash our last argument.”

“Then why did you come here?”

“To try and make things right,” Tommy said. “I don’t like the way we left things, Kim.”

“That was years ago, Tommy,” Kimberly said. “You’re too late.”

“It’s never too late,” Tommy said. “Not when-”

The door opened, and Tyler walked into the living room.

“Hey, mom, I’m…” he stopped when he noticed Tommy. “Oh...you…”

“Hey, Tyler.”

Tyler sighed, shook his head, and started to walk upstairs.

Tommy looked to Kimberly, his eyes pleading. “Can I...talk to him?”

She nodded.

Tommy followed Tyler upstairs and went into the teen’s room, decorated with music and movie posters, including a poster of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Tyler sat at his desk and flipped open his laptop.

Tommy felt hesitant to walk inside, so he leaned inside the doorframe. “So, uh...how’s school been?”

“Seriously?” Tyler asked.

Tommy shrugged. “Just...want to know how you’ve been doing.”

“You missed out on my entire life, why do you care all of a sudden?”

“I didn’t-” He stopped himself. He didn’t want to blame Kimberly.

“Don’t blame mom,” Tyler said.

“I didn’t,” Tommy said. “Look...whatever’s going on between your mom and I...it’s not about you, it’s-”

“It’s literally about me,” Tyler said.

Tommy sighed and lowered his head. “I don’t know what to say, Tyler. You know...I had to grow up without my dad, and it wasn’t-”

“Spare me,” Tyler said. “Just get out, Tommy. Just get out and leave me alone, we’re doing just fine without you.”

The boy’s words hurt more than any blow Tommy ever suffered.

Tommy nodded silently and walked away.

Beyond all Space and Time
After the Shattering of Reality

The rangers laid Sally on the coach of the main crew deck. The baboon barely moved, but still breathed.

Mat shook his head. “You want to tell us what’s going on?” Mat asked Tyler. “With you and Vasco?”

Tyler sat in his chair and leaned back, saying nothing.

Kym leaned next to him and placed a hand on his arm. “Come on, Tyler,” she said. “We’re your friends. You can tell us…”

Tyler sighed. He looked to Sally. Alone. Abandoned.

“It started right after the Shattering,” Tyler said. “I woke up...and Vasco was there...”

***

Before

Tyler’s vision blurred into focus. He looked up at a sky that twirled with broken stars and shredded clouds. The night itself seemed to crack in a spider-web pattern.

Slowly, he sat up and climbed to his feet. He stood on a patch of grass surrounded by seas of black and gray.

“What…” He didn’t remember where he was or how he got there. He didn’t remember anything, really, other than his name.

“You get used to it,” a voice said from behind. Tyler looked to see a stranger. Vasco. “Just give it a minute...which is funny to say when a minute is a unit of time, and time doesn’t exist anymore.”

Tyler knitted his brow. “What?”

“Exactly,” Vasco said with a smile. “You’ll be saying that to yourself a lot until you finally learn to stop asking and just...go with it.”

“Who are you?”

Vasco gave a mock bow. “You can call me Vasco, your first friend in this brave new existence. If you can call it an existence...it’s technically the end of existence. But...just go with it.”

“What are you talking about?”

Vasco smiled and rolled his eyes. “Another question? Man, you’re persistent. You see...reality shattered, leaving shards of time and space in an endless void. That’s where we are, and where we’ll stay, until the last of those final shards evaporates into nothing.”

PREVIEW TWO

Milky Way Galaxy
2019 AD Earth Calendar
Before the Shattering

Dr. William “Billy” Cranston formed Space Patrol Delta to police the galaxy. SPD bases covered more than a dozen worlds, and several had Ranger teams of their own. Further, SPD came equipped with patrol agents nicknamed “Space Sheriffs.”

Cranston established SPD’s main headquarters in the Kerovian System. The headquarters, a massive space station, spiraled through the darkness of space while in orbit around KO-35.

The station rarely housed more than one or two units at a time. Today, the station housed all of them. Every SPD team from every world gathered within a stadium-sized chamber, walled with podiums and seats.

The SPD Supreme Commander, Birdie, stood in the center of the room. A holographic projector flared to life behind him, displaying a three-dimensional image of the galaxy. The image zoomed in on a particular section of space known as the Rigel Expanse.

“You’ll see here, the Rigel Expanse,” Birdie said. “Our intelligence shows that a fleet of Kyrana warships was en route to the Expanse no less than 49 hours ago. But that fleet...vanished.”

The image shifted to a flotilla of Kyrana warbirds, massive ships modeled after birds of prey, armed to the teeth.

“At first, our intelligence suggested a spatial anomaly. But then...we lost contact with several allied bases in the same area of space. At least one managed a distress signal before its destruction.”

Birdie played audio from the distress signal. “This is Rigel Base 815! A massive flotilla just dropped into our space, out of nowhere, they...No! More?! There’s thousands of them, it’s an armada! We can’t-”

The Supreme Commander terminated the audio. “If there is a threat this powerful on the move, we must meet it with full-force. All Baseships are to prep for combat and move out at once.”

***

Angel Grove, 2019 AD
Before the Shattering

Tommy returned home that night. He sat on the porch and looked up at the stars--which reminded him of Zhane and Karone, hopping through space on their adventures.

He tried not to let his failure as a father weigh him down. But he failed. Miserably.

What the hell am I doing?

He failed as a father. He failed as a Ranger. He failed as a mentor.

I’ve spent my entire life in this world...this world of Rangers and monsters...and what do I have to show for it? What good has come from it?

Nothing.

Tommy barely noticed a visitor approach from the shadows. The lean figure moved to the porch as lightly as a feather.

“Simon…” Tommy’s face paled at the sight of him.

Simon knitted his brow. “What’s wrong? You’re looking at me like I’m a ghost or something.”

Tommy shook his head. “Sorry, a lot on my mind today.” He leaned back in his chair. Simon stayed standing, leaning against the house. “How are you feeling?”

“Good as ever,” Simon said with a shrug, anxious to change the subject. “So we checked out that Enetron Matrix…”

“And?”

“Tommy...we can’t let Billy turn that thing on.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Something about its power signature is...evil,” Simon said. “I know that sounds generic, but it’s the best way to describe it. My empathy fired off like mad; it was like feeling cancer. Kou felt it too, and he’s not even an empath.”

“How hard would it be to shut down?”

“Pretty hard,” Simon said. “Billy has the Digi Rangers on guard 24/7, it seems like. The Bio-Beast team hangs out there too. I’m sure Jet Force and SPD are on call, somewhere. And the Overdrive team...and Dino Charge...basically everyone.”

Tommy sighed. “I’d rather not fight every single one of Billy’s Ranger teams.”

“We might not have to,” Simon said. “We just need time to plan.”

“Time we don’t have…” Tommy said. “If Billy activates that Matrix, he’ll break all reality.”

Tommy thought of the White Jokers that appeared and disappeared just as quickly, after battling the Dino Thunder Rangers. A sign of reality breaking? The rot bleeding into this new “band-aide” timeline laid over the shattering timeline that Tommy remembered?

“We’ll stop him, Tommy,” Simon said. “Listen...I need to get back to the dojo, but we’ll regroup as soon as you’re ready. I just thought it would be best to give you an update in person.”

“Thanks, man,” Tommy said.

“Anytime,” Simon said, nodding as he started to walk off.

Tommy called out to him before he got far. “Simon…”

Simon arced an eyebrow. “Yeah?”

“I, uh...listen. You know I love you, right? You’re family to me. I don’t want that to change.”

“Uh...are you dying or something?” Simon asked.

“No, I just…” He sighed. “Like I said, a lot on my mind today.”

Simon smiled. “Well, don’t get too weird on me. I love you too, man. Let’s just...not have this conversation again unless we’re good and drunk.”

PREVIEW THREE

The Milky Way Galaxy
2019 AD, Earth calendar

The DECA Baseships flew in a tight formation. They arrived at the source of the disturbance-- a glimmering distortion field about to erupt.

The Astro Megaship flew alongside the SPD vessels. Cy stood at his station in the center of the bridge. His crew manned their stations around him: Bran, the Black Astro Ranger; Daithi, the Blue Astro Ranger; Saoirse, the Yellow Astro Ranger; and Karone, the Pink Astro Ranger.

“Report,” Cy asked.

Bran shook his head. “I’m not sure what to make of these readings…”

“Best guess,” Cy said.

“I...don’t know,” Bran said. “If you were to break physics...that’s what these readings would look like.”

Suddenly, the distortion fields flared open like wounds; hundreds and thousands of ships poured from the opening. The ships belonged to the Armada.

The Armada fired lances of green energy, stabbing through space. The blasts struck the Base Ships, splashing against deflector shields with ripples of power.

“Polarize the hull plating!” Cy commanded. “Evasive Maneuvers!”

The Megaship rolled and banked, dodging the brunt of the assault. But a few stray blasts singed the Megaship’s shields, rocking the rangers within the bridge.

“Return fire, Mega Lasers and Plasma Cannons,” Cy commanded. “Target the command ships.”

“Which ones are the command ships?” Daithi asked. “They all look the same!”

The Megaship fired blue energy darts and orange plasma bursts, peppering the lead Armada ships with powerful blasts that punctured through armor plating.

Three Armada ships broke formation and throttled towards the Megaship, opening fire with particle beam cannons. The Megaship rolled hard to starboard, evading the blasts.

Cy activated his Battlizer. “Delta Mega, install!”

The Astro Megaship teleported the Delta Megaship into the battle.

The Delta Megaship opened its throttle to full and fired its forward cannons. Rapid-fire energy darts ripped through Armada ships with massive explosions, consumed by the vacuum of space.

Alarms blinked on Karone’s console. She pulled up the readout. “I think I’ve IDed the command ship; it’s towards the center of the enemy fleet.”

“Take us there,” Cy said. “Full thrusters.”

He looked to Daithi. “Prep the strike team; they’re not going to have much time.”

The bridge rocked from a volley of blasts; secondary consoles sparked with energy discharges.

“Report,” Cy commanded.

“Minor damage to the dorsal plating. Nothing too serious,” Saoirse said. “Yet…”

***

An Armada battle group broke formation and targeted the lead SPD Base Ship. The cruisers fired streams of energy that buckled the Base Ship’s shields and drilled into its hull, ripping through armor plating deck-by-deck. The Base Ship’s engines exploded; the entire cruiser erupted with bursts of flame and shrapnel.

***

The Astro Megaship launched a boarding pod. The pod maneuvered through volleys of energy blasts and particle beams.

***

The boarding pod speared into the Armada command ship, ripping through armor and hull plating with bursts of spark and explosions. The pod came to a stop in an inner corridor, cluttered with X-Borgs preparing for battle.

The pod doors opened, and the strike team rushed out, smashing through X-Borgs. Two of SPD’s space sheriffs-- Retsu and Den-- took the lead. David, a virtual hero from Earth, moved alongside them.

A group of Zergs and X-Borgs charged from the other end of the corridor.

Retsu shifted into a defensive stance and raised his arm.

“Jouchaku!”

Energy particles swarmed around him and formed a suit of silver armor-- the armor of Space Sheriff Gavan.

Gavan’s partner, Den, stepped into a transformation stance. He raised his arm and shouted his call.

“Sekisha!”

Energy particles swarmed around him and formed a suit of red armor-- the armor of Space Sheriff Sharivan.

From behind, David shouted his call.

“Galvanize!”

Blue energy flashed around him as he morphed into his armor, now taking the name Shaider.

The three virtual warriors charged to attack, sabers slashing through enemy armor with bursts of spark.

A Zerg lifted its arm cannon and fired bursts of energy.

Gavan slashed the blasts aside, sparking on impact. The space sheriff leaned forward and charged his blade.

“Gavan Dynamic!” He swung through a streak of silver energy, slashing through Zergs and X-Borgs with massive bursts of spark, whipping them backward.

Nearby, Shaider kicked an X-Borg upside the head and chopped the grunt to the ground.

He slid his hand along his blade, igniting the weapon with a blue glow. “Laser Saber Command, now!” He swung through a streak of blue energy. “Blue Flash!”

The wide slash tore through X-Borgs with bursts of spark.

Sharivan stood back-to-back with Shaider. The red-armored warrior armed his own saber.

“Sharivan Crash!” He poured crimson energy into his blade and swung wide, slashing through grunts with bursts of spark.

Hey previews! These were all pretty good stuff. Can't wait to see the final chapter when you find the time. I'll always enjoy this series no matter when it drops

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you hanging in there. I WILL FINISH by the end of 2019.

And I will not post the next chapter until all the final chapters are done, to avoid anymore gaps.

I am actually in a good place now. I decided to write from the end backward to where I stopped posting, and that has really helped me pick up some traction. So many good things I can't wait for you to read.
