Rick and Morty

So yeah, kind of surprised there isn't a thread about this show yet. Rick and Morty is the newest cartoon to hit Adult Swim. Co-created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon (whom you may know as the creator of Community), it's about Rick, an alcoholic, slightly unhinged older scientist who lives with his daughter and her family. Rick spends most of his time involving his grandson Morty in his adventures, which are usually disastrous. Rounding out the supporting cast are Morty's parents Beth and Jerry, whose marriage is constantly on the brink of collapse, and his sister Summer.

Rick and Morty is incredibly well written. For a show to not only push its limits but have character development along the way only five episodes in is great. It's definitely worth checking out, but who else here has seen it?

I have not seen this, but that's been a personal preference of mine. I've pretty much banned watching Cartoon Network since they keep canceling really good shows in favor of crappy ones. I know the network has some shows that are still considered good and "diamonds in the rough", but I won't watch it on the channel, and I haven't bothered to torrent it. Maybe if the company decides to start adding new shows on Netflix (instead of just half shows that aired years ago), I may consider watching this.

I can't really judge the show yet cause I only seen one episode with the amusement park built inside of a homeless person. Pretty funny, I actually wasn't expecting much but it was pretty entertaining. I do hope they tone down the burp talking, that could get annoying after a while. I don't see this being one of my regular viewing lineups but It could be a show that I might tolerate to watch and not change the channel as soon as it comes on.

That's a shame, just give it a chance. Specifically, try and torrent the episode "Meeseeks and Destroy." It's brilliant.

Watched the show off my PS4.....I'm hooked. Looking forward to season 2.

Also they managed to do a better Simpsons crossover with just the couch gag.

I really like this show. I haven't seen every episode, but I am going try to see the rest before season 2 starts. This show is so nuts and hilarious that I am kind of excited to keep watching. The dog episode is the one that I loved most and made me want to keep going with this show.

Has anyone checked out the comic book series from Oni Press? It's just as good as the show. It's really going to fill that void between seasons when we're waiting for new episodes.

Oh I love the comic book! The first two pages Rick lays into Jerry. I was so happy it was like the show!

I'm going to look into the comic eventually. But, for right now I've been watching through season 2 and its fantastic. This show continues to amaze me with how good it can be.

It's probably my favorite show on TV right now. It's one of the most interesting and fun animated series I've watched in a long time.

Funny how one can think Rick is an ass, then sympathize with the guy.

I love all the weird and messed up humor.

Like the episode where Rick sold a gun to an intergalactic hitman just so he, and Morty could go to an arcade, and later in the same episode there was a robot guy who got pissed off because Rick kept calling him Gearhead which was like calling a Chinese person Asiaface.

Anyone else think the episode Total Rickall was a jab at Family Guy's cutaway "humor"? Because if so bravo to the creators.

I'm glad I wasn't the only who thought that was a subtle jab at Family Guy. Last week's episode, Get Schwifty, was kind of weak, but I can forgive the show because literally everything else up to this point has been solid gold.

And they seriously need to make a Mr. Meeseeks talking doll. I would buy the shit out of that.

This last episode was fantastic, IMO. The main plot was really good with some great jokes and that subplot was amazing. I was laughing right from the beginning with the Summer plot.

At least Summer was safe.

I started getting into this series recently and I just have to say I love it. I remember seeing some promo art for it when it first came out and just based on the art (and not knowing anything about the story/characters), I thought it was just another poorly-animated modern cartoon with no substance. Boy was I wrong. I love how Rick is unapologetic about who he is and what he does. I like how Morty gets called out and isn't automatically right just cuz he's supposed to be the moral compass.

I've been following Season 2 so far and have seen a bunch of season 1 clips on youtube, but now I need to go back and actually watch the first season.

That last episode was amazing. The whole subplot with the ship's defense had me in tears when they got to the melting ghost babies. That crossed the line twice, then took the line and used it as a jump rope.

And I loved every second of it.

I picked up the first season on DVD today, I was watching this as it aired but fell off it. Hopefully it reignites my interest in the show now I can binge it.
