Other than making Deadpool "evil" in the comics, another reason why Deadpool not being MCU sucks.

Doctor Strange is officially getting a sequel. Scott Derrickson has finalized a deal to return to direct this movie. The plan is to complete the script by 2019 with an eye toward a spring 2020 production start. If all goes well, the movie would be casting its spell on audiences in May 2021.

It was...it's just that any solid news on a Doctor Strange sequel has been radio silent since the first movie's release.

For justifiable and understandable reasons, of course, but still radio silent all the same.

It's very possible that Christine Palmer will become Night Nurse in the sequel. I know that most fans would like that to happen.

So according to Variety, if the plan is to continue the Marvel-Netflix shows in some form on Disney+, it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Due to a clause in the deal for the shows preventing the characters from appearing in any non-Netflix work until at least 2 years after cancellation. Take all with a grain of salt.

It makes sense. We basically knew there was some kind of contract in play. 2 years isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Which is probably why DIsney has been on this we don't plan to do mature stuff on our network. Just trying kill discussions about it because they really can't do anything for a couple of years.

Amy Pascal would love to extend the deal with Marvel after Tom Holland's third Spider-Man movie.

https://www.complex.com/pop-culture/...matic-universe

"I think about crying," the Sony producer, when asked about the Sony-Marvel contract ending. "I can only hope for a future where things work out. I’ve known Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios producer] since he was [Avi Arad’s] very, very quiet assistant, who for many years sat in that room listening to us and being so much smarter than any of us without any of us realizing. I will say that working with Marvel has been one of the highlights of my professional career."
Ofcourse it's not entirely up to her to make the decision

Aaaand we get a vague turnabout on things again when it comes to the fate of Marvel-Netflix shows.

Kevin Mayer, chairman at Disney who oversees the company's "direct-to-consumer" and who will oversee Disney+.

When asked in an interview about the Marvel-Netflix shows, he said this:

Q: Would you consider reviving the Marvel shows that Netflix canceled?

A: They are very high-quality shows. We haven't yet discussed that, but I would say that's a possibility.

...although to me this just sounds like PR handwaving, so take it for what you will.

Bingo.

You can't say something hasn't been discussed and then say it's possible. That just means you don't know.

Speaking of PR silliness...

Kevin Feige was on a podcast discussing the future of the MCU. And when the subject of the Fantastic Four and X-Men was brought around, this was said:

The next Marvel era will be particularly interesting to observe given the arrival of Fox-owned Marvel properties like the X-Men and Fantastic Four as part of Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s film assets. Working with them will also bring Feige full-circle to where he started at producer Lauren Shuler Donner’s company and the 2000 hit that arguably kicked off the modern cinema superhero craze, “X-Men.” Feige says he hasn’t been given the official green light to start developing stories within the MCU for these characters yet, but he expects to start digging in soon.

“We’ve been told it’s looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year,” Feige says. “The notion of the characters coming back is great. It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters. It’s unusual not to. But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven’t started that yet.”

Everytime he says he hasn't thought about it yet, I just picture Feige holding stacks of scripts and storyboards and concept art he's been secretly working on for the last 10 years.

Seriously this is the studio that laid out several years in advance a plan up to what is now Avengers Endgame. I can't see them not at least having some script ideas ready to go for X-Men and Fantastic Four.

The creative minds literally would not have been able to help themselves the minute the Fox deal was rumored, let alone finalized.

And it's such perfect timing, too, with the world literally ending.

I'm imagining he's saying that while a screen is displaying concept art and script pages behind him and everyone is whispering and getting excited then he stops and is all "It's playing right behind me isn't it?"

But actually I believe they probably have nothing real official. Sure, bunch of them have ideas or concepts on how those characters might work, but no official stories or anything to make it happen till at least now. But no doubt if they haven't moved on something yet, they certainly will. And also, something that until recently has been basically a fantasy has to take a backseat to what's actually going on and trying to build the MCU and coordinate all these movies and such.
