I'm looking to make some custom putties to pose against my mmpr figuarts. Does anyone have any recommendations for figures that are around the $10-20 range? I figure something basic enough to add sculpy to and with a decent or adequete amount or articulation. I look around my local walmart and TRU but I haven't seen anything worthy yet.
I was thinking of doing a Putty too. The best figure to use would probably be one of the MMPRs, but I think ShinkenRed is the cheapest one around and would probably work just as well.

The Shocker combatman would make a good base but that'd get expensive.

yeah, I'm trying to be as cost effective as possible so I can make several putties. I'm thinking around 10-12. I might do 6 rita putties 6 zedd putties just for fun. That's why I would like to stay away from using figuarts just to keep the cost down. I don't need a high quality figure if I'm going to be covering them with paint and sculpy.

The problem is cheap figures likely aren't going to scale well with S.H.F. or have decent articulation, hell even Marvel Legends are $17-$20 each now.

Yeah I thought about using some of the recent Marvel legends spider-man figures but I haven't been able to find any locally lately.

Hello, I was planning on painting the main body of my gashapon Kamen Rider Gaim Energy Lockseeds to be more like the dx versions, and was looking for some advise. I had a few ideas already and was hoping to hear from experienced customizers who have more experience with these kinds of paints, which one sounded better.

-First paint with Krylon Glitter Blast Sparkling Waters(or Clear), then add Kylon Stained Glass Blue(and maybe some kind of clear top coat).

-Paint Krylon Glitter Blast Clear, then paint Krylon Triple Thick Crystal Clear for depth to make the solid plastic more like the transparent plastic on the Dx version(and maybe some Krylon Frosted Glass).

Here are pics of what it normally looks like, and what I am trying to make it look like. I would really appreciate the advice.

I'm in the process of altering my Blade Blaster and the speaker is incredibly low. Has anyone else had this issue before and manage to increase the volume? Should I just look into a newer speaker?

Hey everyone, I was looking at my 4inch Megaforce Red Ranger and wanted to make Dairangers Red Ranger. First question, what do I use to sand out some parts like the chest and helmet? Second, what do I use to mold the helmet? And finally what kind of paint do I use? I have plans to use him as a display piece above Zordon in my display, cause I think Zordon was that red ranger in the past lol. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'd really love to see much closer shots of everything to be honest. The Riders with out their armor and close ups of the various bits of armor and weapons that have been painted.

I'd love to see what you've done and how it looks in better lighting (if you can).

If you can get your hands on a small dremel, that will make you life a lot easier with the sanding, if not, get a small file and some sandpaper.

To mold the helmet you can use a product called Super Sculpey. It's a very soft clay and to harden it, just use a hairdrier in a ventilated room.

(This is the one I use)

The other product people use to make custom figures seems to be milliput (I have some I got cheap in a closing down sale but I haven't used it yet). You get a 2-3 hour work time with this clay before it hardens.

For paint I use Tamiya Color acrylics. These can be quite hard to paint with, but once you get the hang on them they are fun to use.

I made my own about 6 months ago. I personally use Aves apoxie sculpt for all molding I do. I'd like to finish the whole team maybe one day lol

Can't wait to see yours

I think any paint is good as long as it's Acrylic paint. I use Citadel, Vallejo, Tamiya like Blue Shadow mentioned, and I also really like Testors Model Master. The most important opinion you'll find is your own. I was really hard on myself with this figure.

And yes it's the straight swap in color, which is good tho for the colors to paint over white, but white on color is a hassle.

Oh my god it is. I had to put more coats on my Super Megaforce White Figure I painted(He was originally a Red) and every time the paint would dry I could easily see the red through the white. He took the longest to finish out of the 3 Super Megaforce repaints I've done.
