and i'm sure they will have a CGI Tiger for Raja, or you think they will omit him because they want to make the film be more realistic?

After watching some of his last clips as the original Genie from the Broadway cast; I feel that James Iglehart would be a great addition to the film cast, if they choose to make/keep Genie as a "talk show host" type character like the directors of the original film wanted.

EDIT: Here's the Tony Awards performance of "Friend Like Me" for reference

I mean, it's a Guy Ritchie film. None of his films are ever really "realistic," so I don't see why CGI wouldn't be on the table. Hell, judging by his previous films, I'd say CGI is an absolute given.

While the guy is clearly very talented and charismatic, all I'm seeing is someone doing a Robin Williams impression. That's the "Catch 22" with these roles: go too close to the original and it's an impression, go too far and you end up with Jared Leto in Suicide Squad.

The only actor I can think of who wouldn't be imitating Robin Williams is have The Genie played by Ryan Reynolds As Deadpool.

I feel like it's going to be hard to do this one without some casting and stereotyping backlash

Will Smith is in talks to play the Genie. I could definitely see him in this role.

Will Smith as the Genie is actually a brilliant move. I don't know how good he is at improv like Robin Williams was, but he'd be a scene stealer.

Who will play Aladdin, Jasmine and Jafar is the big question here...

Replaced with Will saying: "DAMN."

This casting I approve.

I don't know but either Ben Kingsley or Alexander Siddig would be great as Jafar.

Ritchie spoke with Variety about the film on its podcast.

In the meantime, his hands are full with a live-action adaptation of Disney’s “Aladdin.” That could be a bit of a tightrope, however, for a property that was criticized even in its day for derogatory Arab stereotypes. Is that something Ritchie has his eye on at all, particularly with heightened contemporary sensitivity to these issues?

“Decency is decency. Humanity is humanity. I think the film will dictate exactly what the tone is supposed to be and who’s supposed to be in it,” Ritchie says. “You just don’t want to feel like you’re muscled into it, because you’re bullied into it. It will be what it will be, because it should be what it should be. It will have its own authentic voice, and you don’t want that voice contaminated by a PC army.”

Guy Ritchie confirmed that the film will indeed be a musical. However, he is still in casting stages right now and he's doing his best to find the right people for it.
