It was a weird one. Seems like these pass few weeks have had some technical difficulty. I was surprised there wasn’t a “New York snow” sketch

Did they cut the corn sketch early? It looked like someone screwed up the graphics when they cut away to Pete as the corn. And then everyone was breaking terribly.
According to people at the dress rehearsal, it was supposed to end with Steve Carell's character using a blaster to attack the aliens. That blaster was the prop that fell towards the start of the sketch that nearly caused Kenan to break. I'm thinking they had to compensate for time. It looks like Pete's line was completely unscripted with the way it had everyone almost breaking.

The Amazon sick burn bit was hilarious and probably running on repeat at Amazon HQ right now.

This one was amazing. It's weird how some weeks are stale as hell, and some are fire throughout.

Every time Weekend Update went off script was brilliant. The Mariah Carey rewrite was tight. I was laughing so hard at the Willy Wonka sketch that the movie is ruined forever. Claire Foy did great accents. And I NEED that dark gritty Family Matters reboot.

This was definitely the best of the season so far.

Did they cut the off script stuff from the youtube version? I did notice some janky editing.

So they had Claire Foy from The Crown, they brought back Fred Armisen... and they didn't let him reprise his Queen Liz next to her just to show how she'd react...

Not great, but not terrible. The lampooning of Revenge of the Nerds was perfect.

They missed a golden opportunity to point out how "fighting with his little brother" can also mean that...

Excellent way to end the year. Clever writing throughout, Che's jokes he forced Jost to tell were the best of the night. I loved the timeliness of It's a Wonderful Trump, the simple brilliance of the Weezer sketch, the Oscars host impressions were good, and the heart of the taped piece and Damon's monologue were a perfect love letter to the holiday season.

Pete Davison was absent from tonight's episode besides a taped sketch. Nypd stopped by to do a wellness check after he said some unsettling things on Instagram

The talk on Twitter was that he was at SNL when the police found him. So even though he probably cut himself from the show, at least he was at work with people who support him.

I suspect he was supposed to be in the bar sketch and they convinced Alec to stay around to replace him. Not only was Alec’s presence after the cold open conspicuous (he always gets the hell out of there as soon as he says Live from New York, its Saturday night) but his role in that sketch was suspiciously small. I’m glad Pete showed up in the pretape and got a laugh. I really hope he gets the help he needs and comes back next year refreshed. He seems like a good person and I genuinely root for him.

The episode was pretty good. Not great but definitely better than last week. The Update jokes Jost and Che wrote each other were hilarious. I’m sure my neighbors heard me laughing at “uppity bus passenger.”

I just looked at the article and his statement really is unsettling. I forgot how he said before that peoples' negative comments won't make him take his life. So I hope he stands by that.

The holidays are especially a rough time of year for many people, so hopefully he gets help where necessary. Tweets like that are not something to take lately. And Pet's definitely been through a lot this year.

He introduced Miley's second performance.

❤ Miley

I just want Stiller to host with all the cameos he's made as Michael Cohen.

Was that last sketch supposed to end like that after Voldemort came out or did they cut it? Matt Damon barely even got in the thank-yous.

Decent return, downhill after Weekend Update though. Rachel Brosnahan got NOTHING to work with, she never played out of character and literally did Mrs. Maisel in the taped piece.

And Greta Van Fleet felt like a sketch...

Well, that Kool-Aid commercial sketch was funny with how it spoofed Gilette's ad about "toxic masculinity". I actually don't have a problem with that ad either.

It was a disappointing episode. They did nothing with Rachel Brosnahan who is a fantastic choice for host and was utterly wasted. There were some funny sketches like the name change one but even the good ideas didn’t feel fully realized. The Kool-aid sketch should have been much funnier, for instance. It mostly fell flat. Even the pretapes weren’t up to par. Very sad given the host they had to work with and the amount of time they had off to come up with material AND the insane news that happened during that time off.

Yeah it was a weak episode. Rachel didn’t have much to work with. She stayed in character for the skits I saw and didn’t break. But that almost made it seem like she wasn’t having fun. Despite being on a comedic show like Mrs Maisel, I don’t think she’s a natural comic, just a very good actress (not a diss on her by any means but I do feel like true comedic actors can make weak material funny just by their reactions and delivery; she was just very straight and it was kinda boring).
