Iím happy now that I didnít buckle and get the Siege Voyager Optimus.
Them not slimming down his waist at all in the transformation means it's probably packing some big electronics. Impressive amount of detail, though.

There are Cybertron/Galaxy Force fans?

There were a few neat designs to come out of that (including the Starscream figure that looked suspiciously like Don Figueroa's War Within design, for which he received no credit on the toys), but overall that whole era of Transformers is fairly forgettable.

Yes. Energon was the one people hated

Yes there is!

I'm of the age where Armada was my entry to Transformers as a franchise, Energon was an odd disappointment, and Cybertron was the point where I was old enough to have pocket money and pick the toys I wanted myself.

A whole heap of new characters, and a continuous space faring plot with different types of Transformers on each planet? It was awesome!

My only hope now is that we get a Wing Saber (or a Leobreaker) to go with it. That would really make my day.

Youíre missing out on a great Optimus, but to each their own. I canít stand the Cybertron version so Iím not picking that Leader up... but nice to see a throwback.

Why would he have electronics? None of the Leaders do. Heís appears to be a very heavy retool of Magnus.

I mean I GUESS he could have electronics, but I doubt it.

And speaking of Magnus... found him tonight.

Ahh. "Voyager" went into my head and I read it as "Leader" for some reason. Then the dude's just chunky.

Lol! No my fault, I meant Leader. Iím really, really tired. Long week.

But point stands, Magnus and Shockwave are Leader class and no electronics. I doubt Optimus would. But thereís always a chance.

When was the last time any traditional "Leader" class figure had electronics? I feel like it was around Dark of the Moon? Anything with electronics since then has been part of a subline, not the Deluxe/Voyager/Leader main line.

The Siege Optimus/Magnus are just chunky because of how the arms transform which is different to about 75% of Optimus Primes.

I do not doubt that Voyager Siege Optimus is a great toy as all reviews of him are extremely positive. If I was just starting out with Siege Iíd be happy to pick him up. Except that I already have an Optimus, PotP. Iím still at that point where I have a hangup of owning multiple toys of a single character.

Now so far Iím assuming, since Siege Leader Optimus is a retool of Siege Leader Magnus, we will be getting a base Optimus that looks like the standard G1 incarnation at a Voyager size. Then we add the bits thatíll bump him up to leader and give him that upgraded Cybertron look. If thatíll be the case, I wouldít see why Iíd need to buy the Voyager Optimus when it sounds like weíll be getting a Voyager Optimus + armor= Powered up Leader Optimus.

So lucky you got Magnus. Tried to search on my end, and so far I found all the Siege line released so far except for the Leaders.

I donít blame you one bit. The PotP Optimus was fantastic, until Siege, and itís just so much a better figure. But I get the Leader Optimus situation too.

Iím like you, I donít like owning multiples of the same one... unless itís Sideswipe lol! But Iíll collect the same character across different lines... like Studio Series Ironhide and MPM Ironhide. But if a figure improves on a previous one Iíll sell the previous one.

Magnus is pretty amazing. The Leaders have been tough to get. One store got a set but I missed Magnus by mere minutes. Had to wait a couple of weeks, but Target got him in.

We seem to have a blurry black and white of Optimusí normal mode outside the armor.

The chunky torso could almost be seen as a reference to Energon Optimus.

I knew this would come in handy

Long story short the old Hasbro 20th anniversary prime I bought didn't come with a gun. I bought one off Ebay and it turns out it was the MP-10's smaller gun.

Now it's Knock off MP-10's gun which is still big for the figure but it really works lol. Much better than the knock off's gun

well I completed a set of wave 1 BotBots...some of them are pretty fun, others are fingernail-breaking pains-in-the-bots to transform...a little dismayed to see wave 2 packouts are heavy on repaints and low on variety, but I'll probably be all-in on them if there's a good variation of new molds...

also completed wave 1 of the Siege product line with the arrival of Magnus and Shockwave to go alongside my deluxes, voyagers, etc...

Not crazy about Shockwave not really turning into anything in his basic mode...yeah, you can get a slimmed down Space Battleship Yamato-ish kind of spaceship, but even the armored-up version isn't really anything to write home about either...the robot alone though is pretty nice...very dark purple...almost black...

Magnus doesn't really fit together well in carrier mode...at least mine doesn't...the shell just doesn't want to click together and hold...the two robots you can get (armored and not) are well done, again...

I think most of the line's robot modes are excellent for the most part...Sideswipe, Hound, Optimus are stellar but their cybertronian modes are all still a bit too Earthian...

If there was one thing I'd change about the smaller figures it would be to include more blast effects...the micromaster sets would definitely benefit from them as their weapon modes are kinda lame...

Not entirely unexpected.

I hope they go the route of carving out a new universe, rather than trying to bring it back into line with the other movies.

... I guess I could see Cyberverse Grimlock as a Rescue Bot. If they use the Cyberverse aesthetics for things like dialogue.

I think Hasbro wasn't too sure about moving away from the Bayverse movies but Bumblebee having as leggy of a run (and as positive) as it did clinched it for them. I just hope it isn't an Optimus Prime solo movie. Someone else.
