Here is the theme. The animation is simply lovely to look at.

Damn, that animation is fluid. I almost wish they had kept the colors in black and white for the entire song, because that contrast is beautiful.

Through the 2-part premiere so far, and it's definitely packed with story content. It never dragged at any point, and actually felt like it could have focused more on how this adventure begins. I just wish it was tighter, there was a way better way of presenting her as a Robin Hood type without robbing her of some needed edge to be believed as raised by villains.

The animation is fluid as hell and you don't even think about the art style as simplistic when seeing it move like that. Chase Devineaux is the best character on the show so far. Excellent homage having the character voiced by Rita Moreno play a role in how the new title character presents herself. And the theme song is understated and mood-setting (though it feels like a missed opportunity not to have hired Karmin to perform it, LOL).

So I watched the shows opening for the iconic theme song ... and it's not there. Boo!

I've only seen the first four episodes so far, and I noticed a couple of other homages.

The mention of a "math detective" in the first episode, and an episode with a scene where Carmen is on the elevator, and the music playing was the tune to the theme of Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?.

All three previous Carmen Sandiego TV shows had different theme songs, this shouldn't have been expected to carry the most popular one.

Now, I could see some lyrics from it being referenced, like The Miss in Misdemeanor or something.

Especially since we got a full taste of the theme song before the show even went live on Netflix.

That would be awesome. I've already caught a few Easter eggs and I'm going to have fun looking out for more.

Fair enough but this new song is also kinda lame, there's no sense of excitement or adventure, I'm very disappointed.

When I watched the show, I liked how it referenced the games from the 80s and 90s and the 90s animated show. I am certainly looking forward to seeing another season.

Carmen Sandiego seems to be an odd duck on Netflix, with its first season being only 9 episodes. Usually, seasons get maybe 8, 10, 12, or 13 episodes. 9 is a strange number.

They're just choosing to play this iteration as cool as possible. The animation, the angles, the coloring, the shading, everything.

Frenetic music would have clashed pretty badly.

Through the third episode now, and all I can think is why did they make Zack and Ivy into offensive stereotypes?

How were they stereotyped?

The loudmouth Bostonian meathead trope.

Finally finished the season. This show was planned out well, I loved it.

-Chase Devineaux is absolutely the best character on the show. Every time I laughed was because of him.

-They never explained where Zack and Ivy came from. Were they friends of Player? Because we all know Carmen grew up isolated.

-The Chief is clearly homage to Lynne Thigpen. Bravo.

-I was kind of disappointed A.C.M.E.
took over so quickly, it would have been interesting to see a hero, anti-hero, villain and anti-villain in one story at the same time.

-The Interpol agents
being folded into A.C.M.E. was a natural progression, and directly influenced the finale.

But we never got to see their new uniforms...

-I love that
Crackle/Gray/Graham/whatever the hell his name is got a happy ending, he was the only V.I.L.E. trainee with any compassion.

-The car chase was pretty pointless, especially when the car CGI looked fake in a show that's inherently fake-looking.

-There must have been a director change or something near the end, because the format changed significantly.
Way more action, way less Zack and Ivy, less geographical facts and bigger stories.

-The twist was amazing.
Shadowsan being hard on her because he was the only one who actually cared about her was genius, I never would have guessed that. And the writers had to work hard to make him the coolest villain despite all that so you would end up rooting for him to make the face turn thoroughly satisfying.

I greatly anticipate the next season, and am so much more interested in how they plan to tackle the live-action movie.

Carmen met Zack and Ivy when they both were casing a place for a heist. They teamed up, it went well so they stuck with her. Simple really.

Also, the new suits were just the MIB suits the other two agents were wearing. Nothing special.
