I couldn't get into RahXephon. I bought two or three volumes, and there were aspects that I liked, but it started putting me to sleep watching the episodes a second time.

My Top... Whatever:

1.) X
2.) Cowboy Bebop
3.) Mobile Suit Gundam Seed
4.) Sailor Moon (seen everything but SS and live-action)
5.) Big O
6.) Mobile Fighter G Gundam
7.) Pretear

Yu Yu Hakusho was cool for a while, but I reached a certain point where it just got boring to me. DB/Z/GT was fun for a while, but I would kill myself before watching it now. Especially GT.

Lates!

But the fact that Haruhi has high quality animation, a fun and original story, good music, good characters, fun parody's and a nice way of story telling means nothing?

Good animation and good music and the characters are pretty good. But I didn't really like anything else about it. Though this a biased opinion since I read the books before I ever saw the anime and I guess it didn't end up fitting "my vision" of what it should be.

I understand that but admitting that the series has Good animation and good music and the characters are pretty good and still inhabit the 5 worst anime you have seen...is pretty weird also I can think of a lot worse anime you could put in that list...Final Fantasy Unlimited, Peace Maker Kurogane, Dears(even though I liked that one it was pretty bad) ,Eiken Club and Iketeru Futari(Laughed my ass off but horribly bad)

Ten of my favourites, since it seems to be the thing to do right now.

In no order of course.
Big O
Gaiking (remake)
Astroboy (orriginal and remake)
Gargoyles
Dr. Slump or Rockey and Bullwinkle (not sure which one I enjoy more).
Ginga Eiyū Densetsu/Legend of Galactic Heros
Last Exile
The Adventures of Tintin
Batman:TAS
RahXephon

I realize that "anime" technically means "animation" but typically, what the average non-japanese/french person means when they say "anime" is "animation from japan, done in the general japanese style."

Which would not include "Gargoyles" and "Batman: The Animated Series."

Well I'm not the average non-Japanese/French person, mostly because I have lived in both France and Japan.

Animation is animation to me. That is how I see it, that is how I discuss it.
I will admit I sometimes do it just to get some to relize that there is good animation outside of Japan and North America.

However if you really can't stand it, a Japanese studio did help out on Batman:TAS, and thus it is "Japanimation" in part.

And The Adventures of Tintin has a good, but small, following in Japan.

The fact is that you know what people mean with Anime and what people mean when they say what's your favorite Anime and I'm sure that you know that Batman and Gargoyle are not considered to be "Anime"...

To me they are, just as they are in Japan and other places.

When I hear anime, I think animation. When I think animation I think of shows from the world.

I learned and grew accustomed to anime meaning animation, same for cartoons to mean animation. I do not however see anime as being only to Japan and cartoons to only for North America and Europe, and the rest of the world not even being classified as either.

Sorry, I just lived to long in places where if someone said anime or cartoons, it could mean an animated show from anywhere.

Besides, the matter was "your favourite anime", and to me anime is animation from anywhere. So I gave ten of my favourites.

Just ignor it if it's a problem to you.

That's not what I mean, even though you may perseive something one way you must know what the mainstream means. The creator of this thread meant Anime as Japanese Cartoon and everyone understands that. I'm talking about the fact that even though you know what someone means you still did something different.

I understand what you mean but still...

I get the point you are trying to make as well, but I can't switch over and just pretend to myself that anime only means animation from Japan.

Besides, I wager people can figure out for themselves what is North American or European animation over Japanese animation.

I won't try and force anyone else to look it as I do, and if it's a discussion about animation from Japan then I will state something about Japanese animation.

Ten of my favourites though, really doesn't matter in the long run for a discussion and once we are done with this, people will go back to talking about something else or listing their favourites.

So talk about giant robot shows, I'll bring up Gaiking for example, I won't bring up Iron Giant.

I saw Final Fantasy: Advent Children Sunday, and let me just say it was gourgous. I also saw End of Evangelion as well, that movie was fucked up. Makes you wonder what will happen next.

A lot of guys say that End of EVA was the creators giving the fans a big FU. Then again, some also say that EVA as a whole was kind of a mindfuck of a series.

Ive herd that arguement. Others point out that Anno couldn't do the ending he wanted at the time because it was too graphic and by that point they had gone over budget. But as a whole, yes Eva was a big mindtrip with some christian and jewish symbolism thrown in.

I am curious that if they made a follow up, what would happen to Shinji and Asuka.
