Disney and Monopoly: Companies Edition

So Disney is buying Fox (or already bought it, I'm not totally up to the news, but I know they was having a close-in meeting), already bought Marvel and Lucasfilm.

Do you think they are going to stop there? I can see they buying Hasbro in no time. Smaller comics editors such as BOOM! and IDW may be saved, but what Dark Horse?

Also, is there any other company taking high dices numbers in this "game"?

Reminder: japanese companies are totally safe. Japan has laws agains their companies being totally bought by foreigners.

Disney is worried about one thing money. If it makes money they want it. If it has value to them they will try to buy it. Or if the company is looking to sell then they will be willing to buy. Fox wanted to sell Disney throw an offer and talks started.

So you don't think that there is an expanding strategy from Disney, but that they are just taking opportunities?

Of course they're expanding which is why they were interested in Fox when Fox went to sell. Disney is creating a streaming service. They want material for it and buying fox allows this. It is smart business. Buying indy comic companies isn't smart business. Maybe DC comics but they might not be allowed to.

Time Warner own DC, so Disney will never get its hand on that company thankfully.

Time Warner and Disney are 2 of the 3 largest entertainment companies in the world. A merger with them would be seriously problematic.

The Disney acquisition of Time Warner almost happened in 2014 but that was eventually aborted.

Of course not. Companies are ever evolving, they always make a next move for the sake of greater earnings, that's their job. To be complacent is to lose to your competition.

That said, corporations sell divisions as well. Remember AOL Time Warner? Over, done. Not all acquisitions last forever, and to act like this one is the end of the world is kind of silly.

I was expecting a partnership between the companies, but wouldn't never happen.

It sounds more like its going to end up being Disney buying assets, not the Fox studio entirely. Possibly even Fox selling multiple assets to multiple companies, which would make the most sense for NewsCorp.

Was Power Rangers the only time Disney ever gave up one of it's franchises?

No, because they also sold other material back to Saban as well.

I know companies to expand. But it's different you expand a time or another from expanding being your main target. Since Disney has been expansionist, I wonder if it is in fact the plans of the company. Expand until you can not more expand.

With less assets, there is less need for channels, not more.

Remember, new TV channels are a highly antiquated delivery method.

This has always been Disney's process, though. The only difference is their most recent acquisitions have skyrocketed their success, so the expansions are coming much more quickly, and in some cases necessary.

Disney launched their own movie-streaming service. Maybe they are also expanding for other entertainment media. I wonder if the next step is buying a videogame company.

They may try a smaller company or Sony, since they already have business with spiderman's licensment and Sony had some cash problems recently.

Maybe a partnership, not purchase the company.
