All this talk made me want to look up the Braodway musical again. It's been a few years since I saw it on tour.

I STILL haven't gotten the hang of the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious spelling motions.

Lin-Manuel Miranda talked about his character's history.

“It’s straight up a sequel. Michael and Jane Banks have grown up, and they find themselves in their own spot, and Mary Poppins comes back to take care of Michael’s kids. I play a lamplighter named Jack who sort of grew up apprenticing to Bert (Dick Van Dyke’s character in the 1964 film). So I know if Mary Poppins shows up, it’s gonna get awesome. I perform that function in the movie, of saying: ‘Y’all don’t know about Mary Poppins. When Mary’s around, cool sh– happens.’“

I almost wish they had waited until 2024 so they could break the world record for Longest Time Between Installments of a Film Franchise. Then again, Disney already holds the record with Fantasia (first film premiered 1940, second film premiered 1999), so it wouldn't really matter.

Lin-Manuel Miranda stopped by Good Morning America to talk about the film and how his character compares to Dick Van Dyke.

I'm a bit wary about Mary's new actress.

That should actually be your least concern, Emily Blunt always delivers.

And if it's her singing you're worried about, rent "Into the Woods". She sings in that, and does rather well.

Colin Firth has joined the film. He will be playing the president of a bank. It's most likely the one where George Banks worked at.

He can have a cameo as a voice teacher, specialising in accents...

Van Dyke also said in that article that Angela Lansbury had joined the film. I couldn't be happier about this since she's one of the greatest actresses and singers ever. They've really assembled a fantastic cast.

I still love the idea of during the final song, there's a shot of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke looking on, happy, then walking off into the sunset. Just wordlessly passing the torch. Anything too "big" would take the audience out of the experience, like a "certain" Rogue One cameo...

If they can make sequel to Marry Poppins, why not make a sequel to The Wizard of Oz too? I want to see where the red brick road goes, and have Glinda explain why she couldn't use the ruby slippers in Munchkinland.

We already got one. Return to Oz.

And I'm also rather hesitant with Disney doing Oz again considering Once Upon a Time and that James Franco movie.

Return to Oz was not a sequel to the 1939 classic. It was an independent adaptation of one of the sequel novels, and Disney simply paid MGM for the rights to use ruby slippers instead of silver ones like in the book. Warner Bros currently has the rights to the 1939 film, and to date a sequel has never been made. Recently, Drew Barrymore was attached to direct a modern day sequel entitled "Surrender Dorothy", but it's been nearly five years since there was any news on the project.

I think it'd mean less, since Mary Poppins has been more-or-less left alone since the movie, Wizard of Oz has had so many remakes, sequels, prequels and TV adaptations it's almost like beating a dead horse.
