Colin Farrell is in negotiations to play the part that was offered to Will Smith, which is the widowed father of two children who befriend Dumbo.

You can just say widower.

Interesting how Farrell is suddenly interested in family films. I can't remember the last one he was in before Fantastic Beasts.

Michael Keaton is in negotiations to play the film's villain, which was originally offered to Tom Hanks. All we need now is Michelle Pfeiffer and we have a full Batman Returns reunion.

Is Saving Mr. Banks considered a family film? It's technically got Disney's name on it, but I'm not sure. It's heartwarming, at least.

It's rated PG but there are some scenes that may not be aimed towards children.

Danny DeVito briefly spoke about the film in this article.

With The Price wrapped, DeVito will next head back across the pond to shoot Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo, helmed by Tim Burton, who previously directed DeVito in Batman Returns and Big Fish. “I play Medici, the guy who owns the circus where Dumbo goes,” says DeVito. “Disney loves this project -- we all do, and Tim’s going to do a great job, as always. It’s always something unique with him.”

The film is scheduled for release on March 29, 2019. Casting has officially been announced.

Production is underway for the live-action reimagining of Disney’s 1941 animated classic “Dumbo.” Directed by visionary filmmaker Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”), the film stars Golden Globe® winner Colin Farrell (“In Bruges,” “The Lobster”), Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton (“Birdman,” “Beetlejuice”), Emmy® and Golden Globe winner Danny DeVito (“Batman Returns,” “Big Fish”), BAFTA Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Eva Green (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Dark Shadows”), and introduces Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins in their first film roles. The cast also includes Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith. Katterli Frauenfelder (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Big Eyes”), Derek Frey (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Frankenweenie”), Ehren Kruger (“Ophelia,” “Dream House”) and Justin Springer (“TRON: Legacy”) are producing from a screenplay by Kruger. Nigel Gostelow (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Dark Shadows”) is the executive producer. “Dumbo” is slated for release on March 29, 2019.
Plus, a brief synopsis has been released.

Disney’s new live-action feature film “Dumbo” introduces Holt Farrier (Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war. Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when Holt’s children (Parker and Hobbins) discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.

Burton said this about the film:

"'Dumbo' was always one of my favorite Disney films," said Burton. "We're trying to give it the same heart, feeling and emotion that we all loved about the original."
Well, I don't recall many of his films having those traits because they are usually dark and twisted. We'll just have to wait and see.

Gus and the other mice in the live-action Cinderella really didn't speak in the film nor did they have that much focus like they did in the cartoon. I think there might have been a moment in the film where one of them said "Oh well", but that's it. I am surprised that Burton isn't including Timothy in this film though. Mallymkun, the Dormouse had plenty of dialogue in Alice in Wonderland.

We'll have Michael Keaton & Tim Burton together for a while so that means they'll have lots of time to talk about Beetlejuice 2 right?... Right?

The same could be said for people who didn't like his take on Alice in Wonderland.
