Yeah. DC is so focused on having Batman being a movie property, when he would be perfect for live action TV. Normal human that fights crime with his mind and body. All of his rogue gallery is either normal (relatively speaking) or their fantastical elements are minimal. It's mandatory budget would be no bigger than on Arrow. Instead they skirt around the issue for their TV shows, because they don't want people to be confused.

Why is the legitimacy being doubted? Deadline is a respectable industry website. The pilot's already been written. It's just awaiting an order from TNT.
That honestly means very little for how tv shows are started. A thousand things could change their decision.

Akiva again huh? Was wondering how long it'd take for him to be forgiven for Batman and Robin.

Is'nt Deathstroke being used on Arrow though? Are they even planning, despite a different network, to tie the show into that and Flash?

I pray this gets a series order and is good, also pray that if it does they make sure to include Donna Troy. Wonder Girls are treated so badly in practically every medium, they need love to.

Good idea. But it's the wrong property for the channel. Something more Arrow like would be more appropriate for TNT.

Nightwing has the advantage for long form television, that he's got near-Batman level skills but fewer of the emotional hangups, he can and does talk to people, and gain their trust in a way that Batman is rarely bothered to.

Aside from Akiva being involved being something of a worry, there's always the budget problem for TV shows.

This means that you're pretty much guaranteed to have limitations on what characters can do compared to their comic/cartoon counterpart. You might be able to have Starfire fire energy bolts, but the probabilty of her being able to fly and hover as a matter of course is very low (One of the main reasons that Clark rarely flew on Smallville was the cost, which is why they introduced his acrophobia early on).

It's even tougher with the likes of Wonder Girl who doesn't have the energy bolts. In the comics she has the classic "flying brick" power set (Strength, invulnerability and flight) with a lasso. On TV chances are she'll be limited to the same flightless powerset as Lynda Carter was forty years ago.

On TNT the channel? People still watch it? It just seems like such a....B list station.

TNT has done some good programming actually. shows like Leverage, Falling Skies, Rizzoli and Isles, Perception, and Franklin and Bash. if Titans gets picked up it would at least be among some good company. having a show aired on a basic cable channel is not a death blow to the career or anything.

Have you seen what people can do on their home computers with after effects and the like these days? I hardly think flight and energy attacks should be any sort of restraining factor for any production worth its salt to be able to do.

No, I've loved shows like Arrow and Smallville but any series on the CW always has to have a bit of a teenage angst feel because that's their target audience. It'll be nice for a series on tnt to not have to deal with it. Honestly it makes for DC to form relationships with other networks. If Titans got picked up on TNT and later dropped perhaps it could go to NBC that's already airing Constantine. It gives them more options and stops this perception that DC shows have to be on the CW.

I have, and they wouldn't work on todays HD tv shows.

And it IS a limiter, how many fliers were there in ALL of Smallville? Or Arrow? Or Alpha's or Mutant X or, in fact, any sci-fi/superhero live action series over the past ten years or more?

There was one (eventually two) fliers in Heroes but they didn't use the ability often, usually for set pieces.

The CW actually seems like a better suited place for the TEEN Titans.

It wouldn't be a problem, honestly if you limit her flight you just need energy blasts. Smallville and Heroes pulled off far more with less technology available to them.

As for flyers in Smallville; Brainiac; Zod, Bizzaro, Hawkman, Supergirl, Booster Gold, Martin Manhunter, Clark himself a few times before the end. They had plenty of them.

Nobody it's all assumption but likely at this point. Every time the series so far has been referred to as "Titans" not Teen Titans and it is going to star Nightwing rather than Robin. I personally would much rather a series of 20 something Titans rather than teens. You could have a lot more history among the team and even flash back to when they were teen titans.
