It'll restart again when a teaser trailer is released. I heard a lot of people left Comic Con after the Godzilla panel. People really did come for just Godzilla.

All this Godzilla hype has me out buying Godzilla comics and regretting never getting a Godzilla Monsterarts...

The movie looks to be good. Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Johnson are all good actors, and Gareth Edwards did a pretty nice job with Monsters so I think it's in safe hands.

In that case, wait for a teaser. This Godzilla sounds like a big mofo.

It be nice to see Big G back on the big screen despite his chubby appearance which bothers me. I'm excited for the Godzilla DVDs that will get released after this movie airs. Perhaps another The Godzilla Collection with King Kong vs Godzilla, Godzilla (1984) and Godzilla 2000 (Japanese cut English subtitles)
(Otherwise it's back to buying boot legs)

They need to do another King Kong vs. Godzilla. Especially since the Universal ride is keeping the revival in people's memories.

Yeah, his neck is thicker (presumably to make him look more similar to large reptiles in real life) but his actual body doesn't seem any fatter than it was during the Heisei era.

His neck and belly. Almost like he's pregnant lol. Now Big G has always had himself a round belly but compare G 1954 costume to this one and you'll see. What I mean.
I'd dig a Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster remake or perhaps a return of Megalon movie. I need Showa era crazyness!

I think he's referring to his fat neck; before he had a thinner neck and longer neck. Now, it's fat enough that it almost looks like he doesn't have a neck.

Personally, I'm fine with that new look; overall, the general look and silhouette is still classic Godzilla. And that's all that matters to me.

No, that would mean him as a good guy, I don't want that to happen again. And well, the so-called "chubby" look suits him anyway.

Well Godzilla was evil in that movie but because of Ghidorah he had to fight to protect Earth. (Which he'll destroy later personally) As Godzilla Raids Again (Japanese version) tells us Big G hates lights because it reminds him of the Atomic Bomb explosion lights. If the humans didn't build cities Big G wouldn't attack. So overall Big G isn't "evil" just "mentally disturbed" over being hit with a Atomic bomb.

Yeah but he was fine just the way he was before he decided to become a superhero starting with the latter half of Ghidorah and Monster Zero. What a load, I prefer Godzilla when he destroys buildings and fights monster. That's how it's supposed to work.

I grew up with super hero Godzilla, All Monsters Attack (aka Godzilla's Revenge) VS Gigan, and etc so I have a warm spot for that version.

Mind you, I own plenty of movies where he's a good guy but my personal preference is that he's a destroyer of the Earth. Although if TV Tropes is correct in that Gareth Edwards wants to portray him as chaotic neutral and more of an Anti-Hero, I'm okay with that as he is territorial and is a force of nature.

I generally perfer Godzilla as a territorial force of nature, as displayed in the Heisei films.

It's a nice balance. That's what I prefer.

Some people have mentioned that they hope this movie is like "Pacific Rim." As much as I liked that movie, I really hope this has very little resemblance to it except for the fact that they both have monsters and action. I enjoyed "Pacific Rim" for the colorful, over-the-top, Power Rangery vibe it gave, and I'm hoping that this new Godzilla is not like that. Don't get me wrong- I want it to be full of awesome spectacle, but I'm hoping for something much more serious and (within reason) realistic.

One thing that's always nagged at me slightly is when some fans say things like "It's a monster movie- the humans don't matter." Well, sure, the monsters are what puts butts in seats- they're the thing that most people are drawn to in the first place. But once you've sat down, the best of the movies usually have a pretty well-rounded story with likeable characters and some kind of theme to hold everything together.

I still think the original "Gojira" is basically a masterpiece. It's not "just" a monster movie. It builds tension. Some sequences play out almost like a horror film. It has something to say, and not in a hamfisted, overly cheesy way. It has well-rendered human drama surrounding its action set pieces. And when the monster attacks Tokyo, it's utterly devastating. You feel the impact of Godzilla's arrival. The insanity of people trying to deal with something they couldn't possibly outmatch. The extreme fear that something might go wrong when the final confrontation takes place. And the tragedy (both literal and figurative) that is felt after Godzilla is apparently defeated, at a real cost. It's a film.

As much as I love the crazier movies where Godzilla is teaming up with and fighting against other wildly-designed monsters and saving the world (however intentional it is at the time), that's not a Godzilla I necessarily want to see as the first new interpretation in years. I want to go back to the Godzilla that scares the shit out of people, and not just when he's standing right in front of them, ready to crush or blast them into oblivion. And I want those people to actually matter. To be played by credible actors, who are given lines that are meaningful in a dramatic sense- they're not just there to be exposition jukeboxes.

If they can do that while also having Godzilla beat the crap out of some insect monsters (as was rumored at some point), that works for me.

Judging by Gareth Edwards's intentions, I think it's safe to say it's a completely different beast than Pacific Rim.
