There was a novel called Genesis Effect that showed how dangerous the device could be.
There wasn't a novel titled Star Trek: Genesis Effect. Are you actually referring to Genesis Wave or Genesis Force?

As if they won't get another cease and desist from Fox for this.
From Disney, right? I know it airs on the Fox Network, which isn't Disney owned, but production company 20th Television is part of 20th Century Fox, which Disney acquired recently.

Not much to talk about since it really is a "tease", but there's most certainly tons of speculation to be had. I believe that this may be the point where the destruction of Romulus will actually be discussed upon in the original timeline.

I hope so. As much as I like some of where they've taken it in their expanded universe (such as Star Trek Online), I would love to see the proper canon aftermath of that event. Where did the survivors go? Where did the remnants of their fleet go? Are they still splintered in faction or have they united as a people? Did other governments try to take/reclaim worlds the Romulans had taken control of? There are a lot of things they could look at over time.

hmm I wonder with the uss discovery far far far into the future, what would happen if they returned years later to find things have changed, and to help stop that change the crew of discovery become section 31 to deal with certain threats

Chris Hemsworth said the reason why he declined to do a fourth film in the franchise was because he was disappointed with the script.

I didn’t feel like we landed on a reason to revisit that yet. I didn’t want to be underwhelmed by what I was going to bring to the table.

Amusing because I can imagine Jake and Nog actually doing this in show.
-------------------------
Q Conflict #4, and the DS9 influence is strong in this one. Heck the fan service is strong in this one as we get tons of interaction, callbacks, and returns from past episodes.

Having all been brought to DS9 and the wormhole, Q's next challenge to the teams: Be the first one to get the Prophets out of the wormhole. Each team, having a DS9 rep, attempts to do their own thing such as Sisko attempting privately to communicate, Kira using an Orb, and Odo & Jadzia attempting their own ideas. Dax's suggestion to Kirk for them to fly into the wormhole leads to Kirk having his own Prophet vision with them taking the forms of Edith Keeler, Gary Mitchell, and Pike and letting Kirk know that they do intend to meet Q and then some.

Earlier in the issue when Guinan speaks with Picard, she notes how Q seems to be acting more paranoid and scared. Q earlier also noted that he didn't consider the Prophets any kind of threat or real power, and he pays for his sentiment when the Prophets (taking the form of all the costumed appearances) begin to really screw things up. The issue ends with the Corbin Bernsen Q and Amanda Rogers watching as they decide to step in.

These have been getting better for sure, especially the art. I feel this one really matches the likenesses of the actors and overall is just more appealing to look at. Fan service is off the charts here, and it was melancholic to see Worf comment about Jadzia.

Next issue things are heating up even more, because why stop at the Prophets when we can bring the Borg into this?

Big grain of salt required here regarding Picard, as the original report was pulled by the source...

Brent Spiner may be appearing as Data

The whole idea of doing time travel and revisiting George Kirk felt odd. Especially when they finally made a movie that felt like the original Star Trek Series. .Going back to crazy time travel hijinks feels like a step back.

And really, who cares about George Kirk? He isn't Anakin Skywalker. George never really meant much outside of a few books. Having George as a catalyst for Kirk joining Starfleet in the reboot is fine but we don't need to do much else with him.

No one, Paramount just wanted Chris Hemsworth back. Had he played Uhura's room mate's cousin in Star Trek '09 they would have come up with a story involving that character.

Great, now I kinda want to see Chris Hemsworth as an Orion. Thanks for putting that image in my head.

That's what J.J's Star Trek was missing. A detour into time travel. It's not Star Trek until they end up in the present for some unknown reason(Bringing back whales)
