Huh.

So do you think they'll actually cast teens in these roles?

I'm pretty sure the only real teenagers cast as the stars of anything are for Disney and Nickelodeon.

They may still be teens, mind. I think the book has dropped and picked up the 'Teen' part a lot... though it may also have diverged into a teen book and a more adult one. I'm really not sure. In any case, I did think of this. "Titans" on its own might be more appealing to a wider audience. Throwing on "Teen" might not draw in a casual adult audience so well. Of course, it could go either way. I imagine they'll still be rather young either way.

They only ever really done that twice. The first time focusing on a 11 member cast with a mix roster of previous members. & The 2nd one being solely on the Wolfman/Perez team in the adulthood untill Deathstroke & his band of losers took over in the book's last year before The New 52 went into effect.

Series description from THR:

Titans revolves around a group of young superheroes-to-be who are recruited from every corner of the DC universe. The action-themed drama centers on Dick Grayson, who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new superheroes including Starfire, Raven and more. The show is described as a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever.

I don't think they will be teens for two reasons. 1. The name of the show is Titans not Teen Titans. 2. Dick Grayson will be Nightwing not Robin which leads me to believe the Titans will be in their early to mid 20's.

i hope y'all realize even if a pilot is ordered it means nothing
there are dozens of pilots shots every year that never air

case in point wonder woman & aquaman

so i'd advise some cautious optimism

Dick was still a teenager when he became Nightwing. And it's most likely "Titans" because 1) Teen Titans is the cartoon (same reason the Young Justice cartoon went for that name) and 2) it's.. kinda corny for a name, as the comics themselves point out.

I'm quite hopeful that this turns out well. I am not into the current DCTV universe but I feel this could draw me in. Dick Grayson is my favorite fictional character so I am very happy to see hin get a show featuring him heavily. I do hope the other titans get plenty of screen time as well. I would really like to know the full roster.

And not even all pilots ordered make it to filming, such as SyFy's Booster Gold pilot that only got as far as the script stage.

Adaption Raven for me.

But I'll be prepared when they somehow screw her up. Many, of possible, time.

Favorite hero team... they better do it justice. Hopefully if it makes it beyond the pilot stage, we get to see a whole bunch of Titans and not just the ones who were involved in the animated series.

Dick was actually living own his own in New City when Deathstroke attacked him in his apartment during the Judas Contract right before he took up the Nightwing identity. That always lead me to believe he was between 19 - 21 when he became Nightwing. I do see your point, however, the title was still New Teen Titans at that time so it is possible he was younger it is just so many of the Titans having their own place made them seem older.

I really hope this gets picked up, Titans could be a great series. Honestly I've always felt comics work better on TV than in film. A week to week series can cover much more ground than a few films every 3 to 4 years ever could.

one like the supergirl show i wonder how they'll keep bats & the others away

two i really hope this doesn't turn into a "heroes" type show
or look cheap & corny it's one thing to have one hero but a team with various powers that's gonna get expensive

I always feel like Titans and team hero books in general are best as spin offs. Like had they waited, they could have established a Kid Flash, Speedy/Arsenal, and maybe even risked a Batman series with a Robin to start this Titans out with.

That it's the New Titans cast, which were also the cartoon's cast and therefore known to work on screen, makes sense though. I'm intrigued by what a Live Action Starfire could be with TNT and the modern audience. They kind of fucked the character around lately in the comics, and Titans the cartoon was an okay kid version of her, but I think they could actually do some early Starfire quality stuff in live action. Then again, she'll probably be the sex object version of new 52 and lose the backstory intensity.

I don't see why they couldn't at least mention bats but its easy to work around. I don't think Batman was ever mentioned in the Titans cartoon other than Robin telling Slade "I have a father". Cyborg as well could still be in it, DC has already said the tv and movie universe's aren't connected. Roy however I'm not sure since he's already on Arrow but we still don't know if it will end up being connected to the universe of Arrow and Flash off the CW.
