That's awesome! I was hoping for some Luke Cage / Iron Fist action. Add Daredevil and Jessica to the mix and this is just great.

Oh shit! This is huge! Niiice, can't wait to see what comes of this.

This is the kind of expansion for the MCU I was hoping we'd get from SHIELD. I hope this works out better.

Isn't Jessica Jones one of these ideas that went stuck in development hell?

So this is the same idea that was behind Marvel Anime with Avengers-like crossover finale. Neat.

Is this part of the MCU, though? Or is it just an independent line of programming?

"AKA Jessica Jones" is one of those TV projects that comic writer Brian Michael Bendis has been perpetually frustrated over for years now, so it's cool that (a version of) it finally lands on Netflix. Which makes perfect sense, seeing as how I think the networks were always the main barrier in getting it to the screen.

Some have speculated that this is why "Agents of SHIELD" is so widely disliked critically, as the show feels like such a slave to different entities that keep saying "the show needs THIS in it!" Sticking their stuff on Netflix essentially means they can do whatever they want, within reason, and don't have to commercialize the hell out of it if the show doesn't call for that.

Which I would expect from most of these projects, especially Daredevil. Even moreso if they decide to eventually have characters like the Punisher show up (in his own series, or as a guest).

Basically, now that they've got the "safe bet" out of the way with the SHIELD show, they can do more exciting, risky stuff on Netflix, where there are fewer boundaries.

I'm just making that assumption, but it seems like a safe bet since it's being done by Disney and Marvel Studios (in association with ABC). I think it'd be a big missed opportunity if it wasn't.

And just when I was feeling burned out on the comic book movie/tv boom period...bang goes the dynamite all over again.

It depends on which version of the Defenders they use too!

I hope its the Secret Defenders idea, with different heroes together, like Wasp, Hulk, Punisher, Beast, Hope Summer, Wolverine, Nick Fury, She-Hulk!

They can't use Beast, Hop or Wolverine Fox owns them. Until their rights lapse or they allow Marvel to use them.

Who wants to bet Luke Cage will use his classic "Sweet Christmas" line?

I think the Defenders will just be a name given to the Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and DareDevil team up, since they were all in it at one point.

Finally, Luke Cage and Iron Fist see the light of day!

Netflix really has become the perfect place for this stuff. There if you want it, easily skipped if you don't, and everyone plays by their own rules. Our time has come.

all the heroes they're using seem to be very well grounded (assuming Jessica won't be using her powers overtly) as far as the power-scale, so much so I wonder why they didn't decide to call them Marvel Knights...

Moon Knight would have fit in well with them...

Heroes for Hire, DD, Jessica Jones...here's hoping they can throw in some SHIELD references and link up the tv universe characters...

This is great news. Maybe this is how The Punisher, Moon Knight, Man-Thing and She-Hulk should go. I mean, as much as I want a She-Hulk movie but if that's how it's gotta be, I'll take it.

Marvel Knights (the name) is already tied up as a film line for animation and live action (Punisher: War Zone for example).

Defenders on the other hand is sitting there and needs to be used so they can keep the rights to it.

Well, I suppose with Silver Surfer still being stuck with the Fantastic Four name and Universal apparently still sitting on the Sub Mariner name, it'll have to do.

I waved goodbye to the idea to a classic Defenders team after The Hulk Joined The Avengers.

I'm hoping this opens the door for a lot more marvel live action series.

The Punisher would work great on Netflix, maybe even Thomas Jane could return.
