Pennyworth (Batman prequel spin-off series)

So despite Gotham coming to a close, WB/DC is still rolling out the out-there DC prequel shows. The latest one? A TV series centered on Alfred Pennyworth.

The producers Gotham are working on a new Batman series * and this one's not actually going to feature the Dark Knight either.

Producers Danny Cannon and Bruno Heller are partnering with US subscription channel EPIX on a 10-episode prequel series called Pennyworth, all about the early years of Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred.

According to an official synopsis, Pennyworth will follow ex-Special Forces soldier Alfred in the 1960s as he first works with Young Master Bruce's father Thomas Wayne in London.

But there's just one catch...It isn't a Gotham spin-off and Sean Pertwee isn't expected to have any role in Pennyworth, despite both shows coming from the same writing team. Pennyworth and Gotham will actually exist in two separate universes.

That makes infinitely more sense, being that Pertwee would be far too old to play a young Alfred. Unless the plan was to Hobbit it and it'd be him sitting around with a pint regaling Bruce or whoever with his past exploits...

And I actually think this is an interesting concept, given Alfred's backstory has grown leaps and bounds in the last few Batman adaptations.

*sigh* either do a Batman live action series or don't. It could be interesting but these pseudo-spinoff/prequels are just tiring to see. Not that they're bad, it's moreso the idea of it all that bothers me.

If you can't win, why play?

We can't even get a live action Superman series these days, you think they will give us Batman? They'd rather take aspects from them and put them in Arrow and Supergirl rather than give us the real mccoy

IT's completely retarded. Disney did everything they could to get all Marvel characters under 1 roof

DC has all characters under 1 roof and keeps kicking them out

Yeah, but why are Warner Brothers punishing the audience for the studios' own stupidity?

Well they wouldn't be if they, you know, gave us a Batman show actually about Batman.

And they only ever solve crimes involving people who's mothers are named Martha. This is franchise gold, here.

Yeah, but we can't get TV appearances from the Avengers in the MCU or film appearances from the TV characters in said universe, can we?

Which is why both DC and Marvel aren't going to do what fans want as in a fully unified DC TV and film live-action universe (since there's separate continuities such as the Arrowverse, DC Movieverse, Gothamverse, Kryptonverse, Lightningverse and Titansverse) and the MCU films referencing the TV shows (since Marvel Studios doesn't control the TV shows as they're under Marvel Television, not to mention said TV unit is under Perlmutter's Marvel Entertainment) but I understand why fans are disappointed about it.
