Shave it outright.

Fully agreed. Once it starts going to the point it's noticeable, getting rid of all of it is the best avenue. At least that way it leaves on your terms, and you don't look like you're trying to hold onto something that's clearly on its way out. I look at pictures of myself from 10 years ago and wish I'd made that leap earlier in my life. I (and most dudes) look way better bald than with a fivehead.

I was confronted recently by some images of certain celebrities who for a long time were known for their youthful looks, and now are aging, and they just end up looking kind of weird, like middle-aged pre-teens.
Some celebrities actually look pretty much the same as they did in the 90s. IE Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock just to name a few.

People did seem to age faster back then. I've seen pictures of people in high school from back in the 60s and 70s and a lot of them already looked like they were in their 30s. And watching old movies and TV shows were the actors were in their 20s or 30s and looked at least a decade older.

People generally think Im 3-4 years younger than I actually am. Theyd probly think I was younger if I shaved what little facial hair I already have.

Mine's sort of like that. Although it tends to look better shaved than patchy facial hair.

If it's anything like shaving in other places, I'd imagine it itches quite a bit.

I look a few years older than I am(35) i've been very badly balding since 30 and i'm lazy when it comes to regularly shaving my head so I do look older unless I shave my head

It does not. The "itching" in other shaved areas is usually the result of the regrowing hair follicles rubbing against the skin. The head is much smoother than most other areas of the body one would conceivably shave, and thus there's not as much folded over skin where rubbing would occur. There's actually less irritation than there is in shaving the face, as areas like the chin and neck can rub against one another fairly easily.
