yeah, saw a couple of posts on tumblr saying that this is a evil perception of autistic people. I don't know, for something that is essentially a parody of superman (which in that case the Good superman does out weighs the bad this movie does) I don't necessarily need to be thought of too much. I mean not everything is something needing an deep look into it.

On a side note.

I would be 100% okay if this started some horror superhero parody of other films.
Really?? I have Asperger's and I never thought that from the trailer.

Eh that's tempting I wonder what they could make.

Maybe an evil Wonder Woman who's a stereotypical man hating femnist

An evil Aquaman who's a psycho enviromentalist

An evil Captain America who's a right wing political nut

Hydra Captain America story. That wouldn't be bad if Cap is dead and then Red Skull uses the power of one of the stones to bring back Steve but twisted not Captain American anymore but Captain Hydra. Only for the heroes to bring the real cap back. You know that one event.

As for people looking into things that will always happen. People will rip apart things and not use context of the scenes but they'll find something anything and twist it to their narrative. Everyone does they just don't know they do it. Even if your mind connects with what the writer and director wanted you're still digging into the narrative.

Yeah, for good or bad it's not even stuck on just movies. That's how things go with music; people interpret songs differently. Someone may hear a song and it speaks to them while someone else just hears noise.

So someone on social media was righteously offended by something trivial that isn't actually offensive? Shocking. I'd ignore it. The attention is what people like that want.

Considering that this movie really only has one real possible ending, that the mother kills the son, I don't think some should really be making the whole autism point.
I don't know...

Of course the father dies, because nobody ever gives a fuck about male characters in horror movies. But I can see a twist of either (a) the kid survives and essentially wipes out planet Earth, or (b) they wrestle him back into the rocket-ship, which neutralises his powers and takes off. Movie ends, credits roll, and the ship crashlands somewhere else, cue ominous music...

I could see either of those things happening.

Unofficially. DC has no hand in this
Which leads me to wonder if there might be some legal issue with this movie later on. Cause if it is just evil superman with a name change. I can see WB trying to pull something. Because since they have thousands of their own evil superman's they could claim copyright on that if this kid just has superma n's powers. (earth 3 ultraman, injustice, bizarro, super boy prime ext)

I thought of another ending for the movie.

So what if in a twist this "Martha" basically sides with "Brightburn" and tell him to burn the whole world down. kind of like the whole "You don't owe them anything" kind of speech Martha gave Clark.

judging by the second trailer it definitely is the mother/son dynamic will be playing a major theme so defnitely looking to the conclusion of this.

Looking forward to Brightburn more than Endgame.

Or maybe the ending will be that another youthful vigilante from the neighboring Not Gotham City comes to take the kid down, with the armory to potentially due. They clash until they find out their mothers share the same name... then L'il Not Superman laserbeam's Li'l Not Batman's head off and the movie ends with Li'l Not Superman deciding to take the show to Not Metropolis.

I'm really on the fence about this.

People say Superman is a boring hero because he's super strong, super fast, indestructible etc...

That's pretty much what makes a boring horror villain too.

I mean not really, you have characters like Jason and Micheal that are iconic.

But the juxtaposition is the protagonist.

Superman is boring because he wins. Being the villain means no matter who wins, there will be deconstruction of the trope.

Whelp, if the plot synopsis, from what I assume are people who saw the film early, are true...

They definitely go all the way with the whole "What if Superman was evil" thing. That little bastard is unstoppable and fucks the whole world up xD

And these horror movie killers are boring because they win. What's the difference? It's literally built into the trope, the victims being pursued by an unstoppable killer. So where's the tension? The concept itself tells you the full story, right there. So the point of the story was ...?

To see who makes it out.

Somebody always lives, oftentimes to tell the tale or act as a callback to the next round of unfortunate souls.

But nobody does. They're pursued by an unstoppable killer. The whole story is right there in the concept ... like I just said, two posts ago

The one where the unstoppable psychopath spends 2 hours torturing children to death for no reason whatsoever, and the audience just laughs at them.

You know. That one.
