Agreed.

I think the key is balance. Fans seem to have had trouble with Salvation being overdramatic and Genisys being somewhat goofy (though that was my favorite part about it).
Salvation's problem was it broke the formula entirely. It just became a sci-fi war movie, it had no stakes in the overall story because time travel wasn't involved nor was trying to avert judgment day or any of the key parts of the franchise people loved. If you took out John Connor the name and his tapes, it could be a whole different franchise film really.

Genisys got playing with every ingredient right then tried something new and it didn't work and that didn't work hard. Giving an excuse to have an aging Arnold was the best idea they could have had though. Hiring Jai Courtney was just asking for trouble, however. Misusing Matt Smith and maybe killing his post-Doctor Who Career is also a bad move.

I'd like to see them try again with T-1000 Arnold, we did not get enough of that.

I tend to give Salvation more leeway because at the very least, it was trying something a little more "new"; it was just a series of callbacks to better movies, I liked the idea of a human/terminator hybrid, and ultimately it didn't affect the main series. It was sort of a bad Rogue One before there was a Rogue One.

T3 and Genisys were basically screaming "Hey! Remember Terminator? It's that thing you like!" by repeatedly going back to the same well and going over the same scenes and lines we'd seen done before. Oh look, another liquid metal cop terminator. Oh look, Arnie's got a huge gun and says "I'll be back." As much as I admire them trying to "fix" the timeline, just drawing attention to the fact that it was broken confused casual audiences enough, then by not really fixing it, pissed off hardcore fans.

As I've said before, audiences have generally stopped caring about Terminator. They didn't care when Arnie made his big return to acting in 2003, they didn't care when Christian Bale and Sam Worthington (hot off TDK and Avatar) had a go at it, they didn't even care when fricking Khaleesi played Sarah Connor. How many big names can they throw at it before they get the message?

Unless your next move is to have Dwayne Johnson play Terminator, Chris Pratt play Kyle Reese, and Emma Watson play Sarah Connor, in a movie directed by Christopher Nolan, don't even bother. It'll tank.

The Big problema in Terminator franchise they are try to harder and forcing the things in general, I think the plot itself need to be more simple, because in general the Terminator is going to returns, unless they continues the timeline of Genesys, since Kyle are in the presente with the Terminator and Sarah cared of John...

As outdated as this way of thinking is, television is still considered an "inferior" art form to the feature film (although it's still considered far superior to the direct-to-video industry).

"Maybe killing" not definitely ending. It was supposed to be his big break into American films and kind of set that back a little. Going back to serialized television is a good way to get that back on track though.

T3 didn't have the same "remember Terminator?!" member berries that Genisys had. T3 was when Arnold was still just an actor. It was more just an ill advised money milking sequel. I think it was a fun film, weakest of the series for sure, but I did love the twist ending and the new types of Terminator it tried. I also love it for the Sgt. Candy scene on the DVD.

But Deadline's title is different... You wrote this yourself, you couldn't have made it less confusing yourself? :/

Deadline's title is pretty much the same, besides the "He's Back!" part.

But, yes the title was a little confusing at first.

When Jame Cameron says trilogy he means one film every 5-10 years.

It's true.

James Cameron is taking a break from threatening to make Avatar sequels that nobody wanted, and is now threatening to make a trilogy of Terminator films nobody wanted.

Actually, production of the four sequels will begin next month as Cameron confirmed in a March interview that he's finished doing the scripts and filming would start in August. He hasn't directed a film this decade (his extended version of Avatar, which restored nine minutes of deleted footage doesn't count) and would've done so, had the production of the sequels (which was originally going to be two sequels and a prequel before becoming three sequels and eventually becoming four sequels) not been delayed several times and his involvements in films this decade have been non-directorial ones such as being the executive producer of Sanctum and writing Alita: Battle Angel (which was going to be his next directorial project after Avatar), which will come out next year. Just before deciding to do four sequels to Avatar, he was planning to do a film adaptation of The Informationist.

Well, I'll be 24, 25, 28 and 29 once those films come out. About the trilogy idea for Terminator, just conclude the saga with a miniseries instead with Schwarzenegger returning.
