"Switch" is kind of a boring name but it works. Glad they didn't keep pushing and try something stupid like "WiiNu."

need to see price details above all else. Tech experts now are guessing in the $400 range based on equipment shown off.

I like the snap click sound in the trailer.

I have a feeling that $350 will be the price point. Ninty is going to take a hit on the system. Two 1st party games might make it break even.

WiiU was System and One 1st party game made it break-even/profitable.

You can also take the controller parts off the tablet, pop the stand on the back, and play with the controller from afar, using the tablet as a screen, which is nice.

As I said in the video game thread, although not a launch game, GameFreak did confirm a while back they will eventually move the main console Pokemon Games to the Switch. I assume it will be when they move to Generation 8, which is likely 4-5 years from now. This is just logical, as most people won't have a Switch at launch, so they're going to make games for the console with the more players, which would be the 3DS at this time. 4 years down the line, they'll have a good chunk of Switch users, and a new generation is lines for a graphics upgrade.
I don't think it's 4-5 years from now for a Pokemon game release. I thought I read they promised a Pokemon game next year? Well, I'll hold off on picking up the system until I know for sure when a main stream Pokemon game will come out for it. I don't want the console sitting unopened for a long time, like my Wii-U.

Black & White was 2010
XY was 2013
Sun & Moon's 2016.

I say 3 years away is more accurate. I expect & hope for a cross-platform release of a game next year, similar to how Zelda is being released on Wii-U and Switch.

Yeah, I hope that I can trade in my WiiU and =NEW= 3DS XL and not have to worry.
I want everything to be able to be ported over.
I spent a lot of money on the Nintendo eShop

What? who? Nintendo?
They never lost anything.
Nintendo.

They have a hard time competing with Xbox and ps4.

That doesn't mean they lost their touch.
I play my WiiU far more than I do my PS4

Seems interesting. Skeptical if it will do anything on the market. Nintendo will need to learn from their mistakes the past years and hope that the damage hasn't been permanent. I think PS4 and Xbone are more relevant tech wise, in terms of 4k support and VR, but maybe the switch can make their dent somewhere.

That's nice. But most people don't. I don't see how you can look at where Nintendo has been for years and not see they're not in the position they once were. The way they've been running their business has shown they've lost touch.

We don't know what the Switch offers in regards to 4k or not yet.

I certainly hope they'll confirm data transferal from Wii U/3DS to Switch. I think that would be a good hook in for those who don't want to make the jump.

As do I.

Hyped as hell for the Switch, just waiting on an official price. Only real concern I have other than price point is battery life.

Wondering if the Mario Kart and Splatoon are going to be full-fledged sequels or enhanced ports.

Data transfer CANNOT be horrendous like the 3DS to =NEW= 3DSXL.
I lost ALL of my saved data!

Surely Mario Kart will be a ninth game, not a port of 8?

I hope so!
At the very least, we'll get some great DLC! Maybe early adopters get the DLC for free?
Maybe all of Ninty DLC will be Free for the first day, week or month...
That would be great!

Yup.

Never mind that they seem to be only interested in developing Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon while ignoring all their other franchises. Delegating everyone else to yet-another Smash Bros character slot.

I'm actually really intrigued. My Wii hasn't had any use in a very long time, and the WiiU never caught my attention. But with a baby on the way, this might be a good option for quick bursts away from the living room. Also, if there's an option for additional bases, it would work great for going between the living room and the 55" TV in my basement media room that doesn't get much use lately.

For me the decision to buy any console is based around whether or not it has games I want. You can stick as many gimmicks on it as you want, but no games I actually want means none of my money is going their way. The reason I didn't get a Wii U is because aside from the Zelda Remasters it had pretty much nothing I wanted.

That's the same for me, but the opposite result. I originally bought a PS4 in prep for Kingdom Hearts. I don't play sports. I don't play FPS. I don't play GTA. Tomb Raider, and I assume Uncharted, are fun. I love Infamous and Diablo III on PS4 as well but I love side scrollers. I love multiplayer. I love simply fun games. I have so many people in and out of my house and it's always about multiplayer on the Wii U. I love Diablo III co-op but it's a chore to even set that up for multiple people.

And I don't really like any 3D Zeldas either, haha.

Wow, the name sounds...hip rather than techie. Cool to see the development of hybrids, as portable devices do have access to communicate with some TVs. Is it AV compatible though? How does the console mode's AV function and do you need an app for it?
