This was the one I was waiting for and it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting.

I like it.

And honestly, the full version of Prince Ali doesn't sound bad.

Plus, here is the full version of Jasmine's new song "Speechless" along with the reprise of "One Jump Ahead"

Naomi Scott - Speechless (Full) (From "Aladdin"/Audio Only)

Mena Massoud - One Jump Ahead (Reprise) (From "Aladdin"/Audio Only)

Heh...not bad. So far there's nothing about this movie that I particularly hate. But nothing that I really love either.

The soundtrack is now available and here are the new versions of the songs we all grew up with.

Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott - A Whole New World (From "Aladdin"/Audio Only)
Damn it that sounds great. I really want this movie to be bad but itís not letting me think that!

As expected, Naomi wipes the floor with poor Mena in that song. He canít compete with her voice. I love the song.

Sadly the empowering song still isnít that great. I much prefer the stronger melody of the reprise of the empowering song, but even then the song itself is still meh. It just feels so...standard to me in terms of empowerment if that makes sense? Like I feel like Iíve already heard this song in pop music. The lyrics donít feel specific enough, hence why I love These Palace Walls so much.

I wish they wouldnít ignore the superior Broadway songs to these mediocre new ones.

Naomi's parts sounded pretty good in this song. Mena though felt off for about the first 30 seconds or so as I kept expecting him to hold the end of notes for just a little longer at the beginning. It felt better though once he got past that opening and once Naomi joined in.

I really liked the sound of Arabian Nights.

Jafar thinks Agrabah needs stronger borders and to be more aggressive toward its neighbors; while Jasmine is angry that she can't simply ascend to Sultan on her own due to sexist tradition even though she's the most qualified person in the court.

They're not wrong, though. Issues only take a forefront when they were supposed to have been dealt with a long time ago.

Not to mention it actually attempts to make this movie contemporary and valuable rather than just another Disney money grab. Though, I don't expect either subject to be handled with quality at all.

Except Jafar's rule in the original would be more likely to result in weaker borders: The man would have been content to sit on his laurels and lord his superiority over the populace. Like Scar from The Lion King, he only wanted the crown for hedonistic purposes. The borders would likely have gone completely unprotected because everyone would be too busy trying to satisfy Jafar's every whim.

Eh, you know these days writers want to make their villains multi-dimensional.

They probably decided Jafar simply being power hungry and lecherous was boring, so they added something that made him seem relatable but ultimately misguided like Maleficent or something.

Listened to some of the songs this morning, obviously Speechless. The song isn't bad, and obviously Naomi can sing. But...I just can't help feeling the song is sorta...generic? Like it's a generic 'girl power' sorta song. It can be dumped in any number of movies and pretty much feel like it fits just fine. I don't know. I like it, but...eh.

I listed to One Jump, Prince Ali, and Friend Like Me. And they're all fine, sound fine. But there's something about them. Like Smith's Friend Like Me. I was expecting something more...his style. And there's a little of that in it but it feels...not flat but just...expected maybe? The songs sorta feel like they're missing something, a flare perhaps? Not entirely sure. I mean part of that probably just comes from these being the original songs so even with a few lyric changes they're just the same ol' songs and I'm hearing what I expect to hear. Not sure. Isn't dissuading me from seeing the movie, but the songs aren't really going to stand out I feel. Not bad, but not standout. Then again I felt that way with BatB, and the only song I really enjoyed from that was Evermore which was new. We'll see.

That's basically Alan Menken for the past decade. He's kind of just... ran out of juice. In particular I've been hearing a lot of Little Shop of Horrors oddly enough coming up in recent music.

I really don't care for any of the music outside of A Whole New World. Everything has like no energy.

It turns out that Naomi Scott is not the only PR2017 alumni involved in the live-action "Aladdin."

I stumbled across this bilingual English and Spanish cover of "A Whole New World" (or "Un Mundo Ideal") with Becky G (2017 Trini) singing the female part in Spanish. (For the record, the English-sung male part is done by Zayn Malik, the same male vocalist doing the end credits version for the film.)

..Did he seriously sneek in a climate change joke in that? How many more movies are going to do this? It happened in Detective Pikachu too.

For anyone wondering why Aladdin is wearing so may layers in this film, here is the answer.

Why is Aladdin wearing so many layers in Disney's live-action remake?
one can only wonder at how radically different their live-action Little Mermaid will be
