It's because people are always expecting the A-Lister titles to be announced, setting their expectations too high and being disappointed by themselves.

E3 is around the corner so I'm sure we'll be getting some good stuff there too. If anything for me this is yet another convincing argument for me to get a Switch.
You're right. I remember there being quite the rage when Smash wasn't announced during the last two directs in January 2018 and September 2017.

I'm actually more excited about Octopath Traveler than I am about Smash.

Nintendo's E3 is looking to be loaded especially if Metroid takes center stage. I may or may not get Smash depending on what details are revealed in the future.

One thing I do understand is Nintendo porting over Wii U games. Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker was a very good game from what I've learned. A lot of Switch owners are moaning about the ports, but I say "Bring em on!" Let these titles find new life on a thriving system.

So...Smash Bros was the only thing worthy of note to be announced. Otherwise, mostly ports. K then.

Also, Octopath Traveler...and then remembered I still haven't finished Bravely Default.

My problem with "indie" games is that they tend to all be the same genre: 2d platformers.

Guess which genre I'm not a fan of?
Nah, same.

Never liked platformers. All of them seem bland, boring, and played exactly the same with each other.

I'm glad to hear about the Crash port. I don't have any plans to buy a ps4 so this was the only way I was going to be able to play it.

Plus, this should mean we'll also get the rumored (but kinda sorta confirmed?) Spyro trilogy.

Smash of course is also cool to see confirmed for this year. Whether its an enhanced port or brand new game. I didn't really touch the DLC, so assuming its all included it will still feel fresh to me.

Some are saying its not even a port though. Which if true is even better.

Yah haters gonna hate on ports. A lot of games were not experienced because they were on the Wii U. The fact I can take games anywhere makes me want to buy any Wii U game I loved, full priced.

Some people canít do it, but I travel a lot so portable mode is a great feature and thatís part of the big reason why Switch is so successful. Itís why the 3DS printed money and has new games coming out still, in 2019 no less.

Probably, but a year after release on PS4.

If it's a genre I like, I'll get it and play it though. I kickstarted Chroma Squad, after all. I'd pay to get that on Switch...
Yah, Iíd be disappointed, too. I think all First Person Shooters look and play the same so if all indies were shooting a gun Iíd be upset. I think indie 2D/3D platformers probably sell the best at this time. Would explain why we get a lot of them.

I'm actually fond of platformers as Donkey Kong Country was the first game I ever remember playing on the SNES. However I have branched out into genres I do have special place in my heart for platformers.

Though I do wonder, does an indie developer have the resources and manpower to make a non-platformer game?

Look at indie games... and you would find that.. Yes.. yes they do.

The "Indies are only platformers" myth is a bunch of bullshit.

Just a small example: https://honeysanime.com/top-10-indie...commendations/

*looks up from playing Into the Breach*

Yesyesyes, thank you for sharing, NEXT.

(incidentally, I wouldn't be surprised if FTL or Into the Breach gets added to the Switch eShop in the near future)

I donít think all indies are platformers, itís just the most successful ones happen to be platformers I think. Itís what the gamers are buying in terms of indie the most right now so it makes sense. We would need to prove there is an audience for other genres but a lot of other genres still get mainstream releases so there isnít a lot of cross platform platformers from major developers, hence the indie scene.

No ones saying ďdang we need more 3D adventure and first person shooters!Ē Theyíre everywhere in comparison.

WOO SMASH!

So, on the off chance it's just a port of the Wii U game with only a few new characters added... I'm going to guess (aside from the Inklings, of course) that the Ice Climbers will return and that Spring Man will be added with Ribbon Girl as an alternate character skin, a la Olimar/Alph and Bowser Jr./the Koopalings (or vice versa).

I could see them bringing back Ice Climbers, Snake, and Pokemon Trainer.

Newbies being Splatoon and ARMS reps, and Urbosa from BotW being an Assist trophy.

Kind of want Alolan Raichu to be a playable character in Smash. I mean, if Pichu could be a Fighter......

On personal front: I basically traded in Bayonetta after trying it a couple times. Wasn't for me: it just felt like an overblown arcade game with too much memorization, button mashing and cut scenes. Probably won't spend the Gamestop credit yet since I don't have enough for another game right now and I don't want to spend unless it's something I know I want.

About the announcements: never played Crash (got out of regular gaming around the time of the PS1) so could be fun to finally play that, but do want to try Captain Toad after trying a demo of it once and liking it.

I'm only surprised because video files are so large. Otherwise it's a fairly harmless and not very fun kinda sorta not-really video game.

The console releases have been just shy of 8GB. Not especially huge, but just large enough that I'm surprised anyone is bothering with a cartridge run.

Switch cart sizes can be as large as 32 gigs. 64 if they wait until next year.

Sure. Though cartridges are expensive, larger cartridges even more so. It's only a $15 game to begin with.
