The only thing that bug me about dubs is that it gives accents to the wrong characters for the wrong reasons...

With some accents it depends, kind of how they give Osakans Southern accents usually, due to illustrate the difference between an Osaka accent and a Tokyo accent. It worked great with Osaka, but not so great with Sword Hunter Cho. Some others, I love their accents like Chu and Jin's from YYH. And when it comes to foreigners (to Asia) dubs usually have the more believable accent than a Japanese version might.

Same here, only after watching the entire thing...it's going to really fall apart in the final ten episodes.

RahXephon was such a great anime. I'm selling most of my other DVDs, but my complete series set and movie shall never leave me. So many aspects of that series were just amazing.

Lots of times, things like that happens. For example, the Japanese voice of boy-Ranma also did Inuyasha and the 2nd English voice of Boy-Ranma also did Inuyasha. Because of that, lots of times, when new shows are coming to the States, people want them to be done by the dub actor who did the character in a dub that the Japanese actor did. It however doesn't quite work if the Japanese VA is female, the dub VA is male and the show has the Japanese VA playing a male female role.
Really? I didn't know that. Learn something new everyday.

Just finished Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 last night. Here's my review.

Story- The pacing of the story is excellent, not revealing much at first, but revealing enough to keep you coming back for more. The habit of ending an episode on a cliffhanger, while annoying at times, is also effective at keeping your interest. At first the series focuses on Linna's introduction to the team and establishing characters and relationships, revealing bits of the overall story along the way. Partway through, the series shifts into high gear and doesn't let you go for the next few episodes. Eventually, the high pace dies down, but by that point you're hooked, you'll want to see it through to the end.

Speaking of the ending, I'd heard bad things about it, and after watching it, I can say it is a bit of a let-down, but damn if it wasn't a wild ride to get there. The series also left a couple of plot points unresolved. Should the sequel, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2041 ever be released, maybe they could be resolved, but given it has been in pre-production for the last 4 years I'd say the chances of it happening are slim to none.

Animation-The animation is well-done throughout the entire series. Many of the stereotypical features of anime don't appear very often, so when they do, they seem a little out of place. The hardsuits look awesome.

Voice acting/Script(This is for the English dub)-There is not a single character miscast throughout this series. All the major and supporting characters are well-cast and well-acted. Every character's voice fits them. There is a noticable problem with lip flap early on, but that's been taken care off by the end of the series. The scripting is well-done. None of the other reviews I've read have mention anything about major alterations to the script for the dub, so I'm assuming that's not an issue. One review does state that the dub takes a few liberties, but then follows up by saying "but who's complaining?" so appaerantly any changes were minor.

Action sequences-Any action series has to have good action sequences, and this one delivers. The Knight Sabers' hardsuits sport some of the coolest weaponry you'll ever see. From ribbon cutters to knuckle bombs to needle guns to good old-fashioned swords to the Motoslave, the Knight Sabers have the tools to take out rogue boomers and provide entertaining action.

Overall-This is a strong series with very few flaws. The most glaring are the ending and unresolved plot issues. That aside, this is one of the best anime series EVER. If you're a fan of anime, watch this. If you're a fan of a great action series with a well-told story, watch this.

Rating: 9.5/10
