Disney and their live action remakes

It's nice to see Disney breathing new life into the movies. Personally, I loved the live action remake of Beauty & The Beast, even though I haven't seen the original. So I'm hopeful the live action remakes for Mulan and Lilo & Stitch will be good too.

Disney really is boss when it comes to their movies, so hopefully Disney continues to succeed in the live action route.

They succeeded in sucking all of the fun out of Beauty and the Beast with that remake.

It's getting a little ridiculous at this point... but I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't excited for a few of them.

But do some of them even count as remakes? I could just be getting my terms messed up, but like with Dumbo for example, it's basically just a completely different movie.

I didn't see that one, so I'll just assume yes.

Neither have I, lol.

I just have heard that they basically overhauled that movie to be completely different...because it was based off a movie that came from Bronze Age/First Dark Age, and nobody cares about the movies from that era aside from the die-hard cult fans.

I can't wait until we get to live-action Pixar movies.

C'mon now guys, one of the most anticipated live action remakes should be The Aladdin. That movie is going to rake it overseas if that were to happen. That is why Mulan is going to be crucial if people are willing to watch an all Asian cast live action film.

Well they can't do with live-action toys, so they'll just have to do a CGI remake like The Lion King.

Oh wait...

Well, they could make a Toy Story remake be in 2D instead. As in, old-school animation.

It was an interesting experiment at first with redoing old films like Jungle Book, but I think the execs saw dollar signs in their eyes and decided to double down on making any property live action that they think will be remotely successful. And I think Lindsay Ellis put it perfectly when she said that this is also Disney's attempt to rectify glaring issues people had with the original films, because revisionism is always a good thing!

Which is funny because the live action Beauty & the Beast ended up creating new issues.

I think Disney don't have the same magic like before.

Nah, I'm saying that there was nothing explicit or revealing about Lefou's homo-ness. I'm not pissed that it was the last second thing, but rather something "Exclusively Gay" was actually not gay at all. Liking being in a dress isn't gay. Dancing with a guy isn't gay.

There are just so many shitty things that movie did.
