The Oscars will be presenting four awards during commercial breaks. The general movie going audience probably wont care, but critics and show biz insiders are decrying this.

And that decision has now been reversed, after numerous unions protested.

Not the best names involved (or the best network for that matter...), but this idea was extremely natural.

That episode with the two kids singing La Cucaracha was purposefully presented as nightmare fuel.

Men At Work was recently added to Stan. I'd forgotten how enjoyable a movie it was, sure it's not a "good" movie by definition but I had fun rewatching it.

You can say that about 95% of movies from the 80's and 90's. To me, the best movies aren't 'good' or 'well made' but just how fun they are to watch. Me? I love the Mannequin movies. They're both dumb, cheesy and insane, but they're entertaining. That's all I ask of a movie is to keep me entertained for the running time.

Guess it could fit here: 2019 Academy Awards results (outside what is in the threads open like "Black Panther" and "Into the Spiderverse"): Green Book wins Best Picture, Rami Malik Best Actor (for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody"), Olivia Coleman wins best Actress for "The Favorite".

Freddie Mercury is partying in his grave. And A Star is Born curse still goes on and didn't win any of the major awards.

It won the one that mattered, though.

A movie about music needs the Best Song.

I...just don't know what else they'll do. I actually just watched the third last week. It was fun, entertaining, but yeah. I mean clearly the franchise has done well though and kids like it. But man...it kind of feels like each movie just becomes more...I don't know "shallow", and just an excuse to make some more monster jokes. But hey, who knows it could still be entertaining enough.

I really don't get the butthurt for Green Book winning Best Picture.

One criticism is that it's historically inaccurate, that too much was changed for the film. It's weird to me, as most adaptations of real-life events fudge the details heavily in order to serve the narrative.

Yes, in The Green Book, real life Dr Shirley was not isolated from his family, nor was he 'out of touch' with his roots or culturally unaware of black music.

In Blackkklansman, the third-act bomb plot was entirely created to create tension, as was Ron dating a political activist (in real life he was dating his to-be wife). As the identity of Stallworth's partner has never been revealed, the character Adam Driver portrays is entirely made up, including him being Jewish, which plays a large part in the movie.

In Bohemian Rhapsody, the entire Live Aid cathartic ending is a sham. Freddie Mercury did NOT know he had aids until several years later, and so did not reveal it to the band beforehand. The film portrays Queen as having broken up, but in reality they had just finished a sold-out world tour just weeks before the Live Aid special, and had released their album "The Works".

So, whilst people shit on The Green Book for historical inaccuracies, pretty much every Oscar-bait biopic is guilty of it.

I could see it going one of two ways.

1. Drac and Erica have a baby, one who, unlike Dennis, is entirely human.

2. A time jump. Dennis and Winnie are older, and we see if they zing each other.

Fair point, those are options. So I guess it's more of a matter is anything they could do really worth doing for another film. That we'll have to wait and see. Given the holiday release, wonder if they'll try and do a monster holiday film.

Yeah pretty much. I get why people are upset. However they would need to be upset about the other films as well. Plus the way Spike Lee acted after Green Book won and walked out in a hissy fit and I'm like yeah dude you don't ever deserve best picture or any other oscar again.

Even though Glenn Close if 0 for 7 when it comes to winning an Oscar, she will likely have another chance. Today, it was announced that she will once again be recreating her iconic performance as Norma Desmond in the film adaptation of Sunset Boulevard.
