What's really the point of rebooting in any sense? Unless they're planning on doing a story that crams essentially EVERY major character introduced over the four movies into one new origin tale.
To make money, that is.

I know I've already talked about Mrs. Doubtfire in this thread, but Mara Wilson recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how the film changed her life.

I rewatched V for Vendetta and I think Alan Moore very much had a right to be outraged about it. It was an OK movie as a movie (mostly for the basic ideas and visuals) and yet also a mess of a story and message. Weaving was pretty good but sometimes mis-directed and Portman had moments but neither was really believable with a lot of the developments.

Figured I'd just toss it into here instead of starting a new thread. Went and saw the new Robin Hood today. I liked it, I thought it was fun. Admittedly, while I always enjoy Robin Hood I haven't read as much of the stories and such but the movie definitely leaves off with wanting to do more. Whether it'll happen or not don't know. But yeah, thought it was a good movie.

They kill the Sheriff of Nottingham only to have him replaced by Will. Wasn't totally surprised with Will going bad, but admittedly hoped otherwise. But he was shagging Marion, so it was inevitable she'd go back to Robin. I did wish things had resolved differently, given this was a new rendition. I'm assuming Will is still suppose to be Will Scarlet(especially given that cherry burn mark at the end). But maybe if there's a sequel he'll have a change of heart and leave for Robin's side after all, who knows. Or not, it is a new rendition after all. But yeah, the love triangle was fairly cliché which was a shame. But yeah overall I did really enjoy it. Jamie Fox was entertaining as John as well. So we'll see what happens.

Oh right. I will say one thing though, at times it felt like they were kinda pushing a bit too hard at making this a superhero movie. Now sure, trust me I know what I'm watching he's Robin Hood, totally old school vigilante hero. But still, this felt like there were taking the beats a bit too much. For some reason I got a whole Dark Knight(Nolan's trilogy) vibe. And then towards the end Robin has a crisis of faith in the mission and considers just giving it up until Marion talks him back in and even goes so far as to say that 'oh totally "Loxley" was always the costume, your true self is the Hood'. Felt too superhero cliché for me.

Also didn't make much sense since the small part we see of pre-Hood Robin, he was a rich noble with no care in the world other than shagging Marion. There's really nothing to indicate he was anything more back then, and only through the war and his experiences, and John, did he see the bigger picture and start to fight. So saying she knew he was always the Hood and his civilian self was just a façade felt cheap. And yeah, John's plan for Robin to act like a rich noble man to play people while secretly going around attacking the Sheriff felt a bit straight out of Batman Begins.

Also I liked a line said in the movie, though I'm sure I'm not remembering it word for word, but basically "Whispers left unquieted will become a roar." I dig it, though eventually I'll have to get the actual line.

I really don't know why there needs to be a remake of West Side Story, but I think it's cool that Rita Moreno, who played Anita in the original, has joined the new film.

I went to see Instant Family yesterday. It had some very good messages about children who are in foster care and the struggles they go through, especially the teenagers.

Anything Isle of Dogs, and Rise of the TMNT absolutely deserves the storyboard award.

This Library of Congress has named its list of 25 films that will be added to the National Film Registry. A lot of these make sense since they are considered classics by many movie-lovers.

“The National Film Registry turns 30 this year and for those three decades, we have been recognizing, celebrating and preserving this distinctive medium,” Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden said. “These cinematic treasures must be protected because they document our history, culture, hopes and dreams.”

Bad Day at Black Rock (1955)
Broadcast News (1987)
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Cinderella (1950)
Days of Wine and Roses (1962)

The Girl Without a Soul (1917)
Hair Piece: A Film for Nappy-Headed People (1984)

Aside from who votes on the winners, the biggest difference is that the Golden Globes cover both movies and television. the BAFTAs and Oscars only cover movies.

Each award is voted on by a different group.

The BAFTA is the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. They have a seperate ceremony for television

http://www.bafta.org/

The Golden Globes are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press. International journalists reporting on the film and television industries in Hollywood.

https://www.goldenglobes.com/hfpa

The Oscars are voted on my members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Anyone who makes a movie is elligible to become a member, not limited to Americans.
