Sweet pictures @Taichi, Red/Green look good next to each other! The backgrounds you use are awesome.

I agree, the putty looks really good but they should have darkened his face a little or use the method that is on gold ranger's shield.

Overall, pretty badass!

I'd say it's being held back because they can pull off these details. With the SOD clearly they couldn't get the detail. With the coin and diamond, they could have gotten the detail correct with some better quality control.
I wonder if it has something to do with the materials, or if it's just rushed sculpts. Bandai gave us plenty of great sculpts at smaller scales and lower price-points. It's not a QC issue like paint, which requires constant oversight. Someone has to sign off on that sculpt, and then sign off on its cast, and a sample of the final product. Someone has to determine those all look "OK".

Every SPD badge on Shadow Ranger look messier than Bandai's 2005 offerings. There ain't a lack of reference images for the SPD dog badge.

I would say that the coin thing was just caused by someone carelessly shifting the artwork prior to the mold being made. Cause the one I got is straight on... it was the other two that were off AND the same degree.

I know that in my line of work, after I design something and it goes to production if someone bumps the arrow key one stroke in any direction... it can have serious implications on small details. This is probably one of those cases.

And you know they have multiples of those belt casts. They may not sign off on every single one. It could be number 4 of 20 or something like that.

I think I actually got lucky, so far everything on my spirit green is close to perfect. The coin on his morpher is quite straight too. So far the only flaw I can see is the slight box damage. Yes, I am picky with the packaging, for me it's part of the collectible itself.

Really nice photos, Taichi. It's amazing how just putting it in front of a mountain changes my entire perception on a figure haha

So someone posted a photo of the offset coin better on the PR TBS page. It actually appears to be a painting error. There's a ridge I guess for the red and coin... (I'll have to look later to confirm)... and it appears the paint is actually shifted to the left. So it's not a molding error, it's clearly a painting error.

My Greenís belt is also off to the left. Itís important to note that the belt really only sits one place and cannot be rotated all that much. Interestingly, the paint is directly in the middle and the sculpt is just to the right of center.
EDIT: Went to take a picture of this and noticed I was completely wrong. Sculpt is centered. Paint is off.

Yeah... the morpher is actually molded to the belt. The paint is off. At least from this photo. The whole paint transfer is shifted right. You can tell as the black part of the holster's edges are on the buckler edge.

These things take time.

Looks quite good! Sword is on the short side though, and a small amount of box damage or more of having to much weight on on box. I also have to get the putty out and fix his belt, lol.

So wait you can preorder Psycho blue? Eb games website? All I see is the Legacy version. I hope I didn't miss preordering armored black and psycho blue..
Hope they don't start going crazy soon with in package posing

Now I feel the Putty is the basic LC design. By that I mean minus the hands and head. This is the general body for all the figures. I'm serious if they released a two pack, modders would have a ball with it. There's no extreme detail minus the hands/head.

For that reason it's a solid figure. Paint job is perfect. The hands don't rotate as the forearm and hands are one part. The face could use a dark wash to bring out the detail and contrast the rest of the body.
i noticed the similar basic body parts too, its a good way for Hasbro to save costs and isn't really that obvious (though I'm not sure if the Putties wore the same boots as the rangers)...

and I echo the wash on the face would have made it perfect

The Putty boot sculpt is kind of unique though. The seam doesn't extend along the shaft of the boot with Putty.

Hey, Taichi, excellent photos! On your Green Ranger, it looks like the outer edge on the mouthplate didn't get painted, but on Red the paint is correct. Hopefully that's a QC issue and not part of the painting template like the helmets in the main MMPR 2010 figures.
