Okay, got mine today. Just a few notes from skimming through disc 3...
  • These are the Marvista international masters, sadly!
  • All original episodes seemed to be 23m36s or thereabouts - these transfers vary from 23:12 to 23:46 somehow.
  • These are MPEG-2 encodes! Very disappointing!
  • The "centuries ago in Japan" introduction seems to have only been cut from *some* of the episodes.
  • These ARE 23.976fps 1080p encodes thankfully.
  • There are 3 audio tracks per episode - a German 2.0, an English 2.0 and an English 5.1.

My thoughts exactly!

Maybe they don't have a licence for an AVC encoder?

Why is MPEG 2 bad? The episodes look good on my tv but I'm not exactly an expert when if comes to technical stuff like video formats.

It's not exactly the most efficient codec out there, there are much superior alternatives. I haven't seen a Blu-ray encoded with MPEG-2 since about 2007.

I would buy the set except for two things: 1) it is probably region B, which my PS3 cannot handle, and 2) the whole series is available on Netflix in the US.
I would love to watch with the German language track, though.

Hello guys,

sorry if you have problems with the audio. We checked the discs and we couldnt find anything wrong. We watched all the episodes on different blu-ray players and we find no problems: No missing words in the english version on the beginning.

Please send me the product-name of your Blu-ray Player. Maybe it depends on that...?

Super Samurai and Megaforce will be released in September and November respectively.

After watching the entire set I'm quite happy with it, minor quibbles aside. Doesn,t make the season itself better but I'll still support the releases so that they'll hopefully do Dino Charge as well.

Well at least they're continuing with them I suppose. I will also support the releases.

Super Samurai Blu-Ray is coming out in a month and is now up for pre-order at Amazon DE.

I guess we can expect it to be more or less the same kind of set/specs as Samurai?
Unlike the U.S. release, this should contain the complete season, as far as I know.

Do these Blu-ray sets default to the English 5.1 audio track?

The Super Samurai Christmas and Halloween specials were never dubbed in german. So we don't know if there'll be just the english version of it, or not any of these two episodes.

Yes, they do. ^^
EDIT: It should set it to default. At least the Samurai one did

Oh, I wasn't aware of that...
Ouch, that actually can mean they won't be included either :/

I would think that it would default to German, that would make sense since the menus are also only on German....

Or maybe the language is set to English if you have it as your preferred language on your BD Player settings?

Indeed, it likely won't include them. The amazon description mentions 20 episodes.
The one from Samurai mentioned 20 episodes + 3 specials.

What a shame... I guess there's no point in upgrading this season for those who have the US Blu-Ray.

MarioRanger can we have some confirmation on the two specials please? If they're not included I'm cancelling my pre-order.

Sadly, the two specials are not included. There are not part of the german license agreement and it wasn't possible to get them for a dvd or blu-ray release in germany.

That's a shame. Sadly I'll be cancelling my preorder then as I was only buying it for those 2 episodes.

Thanks anyway.

Yeah no point in buying this one sadly. Already picked up the U.S ones. Going forward... Will the specials for Megaforce and Super Megaforce (Legendary Battle extended) be included?

Since the Super Samurai specials aren't going to be included in this, the extended Legendary Battle won't be either. But the Megaforce specials will be in there ^^
