Not necessarily. It's more within BitS' scope to do a single setpiece. Assuming White Dragon has a script, or at least a treatment, they could pluck a scene from the third act and just produce that.
Well I know that, but they had no idea they're not getting any money from this if it doesn't go to the full $500K.

I damn well better be. That's almost worth funding the full $500K.

It's surprising they didn't use Indiegogo, or a simmilar crowdfunding service, that doesn't return incomplete goals. That's not meant as a slight, it goes back to my point about their scope.

There are, what, 20 or 30 people involved with this project? Did they all think 500k was a realistic goal? Did nobody understand how Kickstarter works? That aspect is kind of confusing.

If it was just part of the marketing push, and they never intended to reach 500k, why introduce a project that's going to be called "a failure on Kickstarter"?

And Jenna Frank as a Ranger. Whoops, that's lowercase ranger. She shoots arrows.

White Dragon might get top billing here, they aren't trying to build a White Dragon cinematic universe.

I have a feeling BiTS will secure funding from another company and they'll just release an even more pitiful version of whatever it is they have brewing in their JDF-shaped cauldron so they can still say "we made it."

The day we’ll see JDF be able to act is the day Tommy Oliver is able to a character.

You're joking, but I can absolutely see them doing that. Funding a PR fan-film so you can sell it on Blu-Ray and make money off an IP you don't even own anymore is an extremely Saban thing to do.

And that's the thing, they have avenues to fund this shit, but instead they ran to fans on Kickstarter so they can do a marionette theatre version of power rangers. Fans don't expect results and returns on investment.

I was only half-joking. I welcome death!

I'm really curious to see how The Mandalorian is received by audiences and mimicked by other productions. It's hard to ignore the parallels between Fett and Green Ranger, and it would give a new angle for the marketing. I'm surprised they aren't racing to release ahead of The Mandalorian, like The Asylum.

They seriously named the city in this "movie" Angel Graves? OMG LMAO

I thought someone was making a joke when they said that name. Wow. This project hasn't ceased to amaze me

It had better have two comedy relief characters named Hulk and Skrull

Granted, that`s basically inviting a lawsuit from Marvel/Disney but what the hell...you`re already risking pissing off Hasbro`s attorneys you might as well go for the trifecta

That seems to be one of the areas where people are having a problem with the logic.
It's a learned fear and paranoia, it's not going to be logical. You can't expect people reacting out of habit to follow logic, that's really the antithesis to logic, don't look to apply sense to knee-jerk base reactions.

They both looked cool and had the color green. That's the end of the parallels. The Mandalorian isn't about Boba Fett either, but a new unrelated mandalorian character. Fett's not really as Mandalorian as he seems.

This is either a prank and that person thinks they won't have to pay or the first sign that BitS donors are starting to leak in and paid sponsors may be sponsoring through the Kickstarter instead of traditional methods of funding as a result.

Or its the mob.

Both characters are nothing-characters. Green Ranger has so few notable traits, Boba Fett has so few notable traits. People project onto them because they're blank slates that do a few cool things, and stand there looking cool.

Both characters are insanely popular, despite their reduced roles.
Green Ranger had far more moments to shine, but both characters take the sideline or whimp out more than an outside observer might assume, based on how people talk up GR and Fett. They both went out like losers!

Both characters are overexposed, much to fan chagrin.

Both suits are iconic in their respective fandoms, and to casual viewers. The cool suit, like you said, but that extends to the toyline and redefined how their respective toylines grew. Power Rangers took the sixth add-on look and continued to add-on, while Star Wars took Fett's refined take on the bounty hunter, and set the mold for later hunters and troopers, especially during the prequels.

Slave 1 and Dragonzord are insanely popular in their own right, and look unlike anything from their respective series, until later homages trying to build on their iconography.

And more! But those are the big ones.

Who the hell has that kind of money to throw around?

My gosh, I hope this project succeeds just so that idiot doesn't get their money back.

I don't think they understood how kickstarter works, if it's even 5 bucks short from reaching its goal they get nothing. So the answer is simple, if they don't raise the 500,000 they won't make a movie.
Kickstarter is great at, well kickstarting, but its not the only way to complete a project. They've done other things things using their own money, why wouldn't they just power through anyway?Perhaps they would try again using gofundme where they get to keep whatever is donated regardless of falling short of their goals.

I would not be surprised if this was funded or got close to it. It certainly has had more promotion than the other fanfilms and would catch interest on Tommy alone.

Whether it remains to be actually good, long term, is debatable. This may as well be the apex of grimdark Power Rangers, and supporters soon may be burnt out if enough of these films are made.

It's already plateaued, itll be lucky to reach $200K By the end of the Month. Heroes From The Grid got $100k in 8 hours and ended at $700K. This could barely manage $50k in 24hours.
