Netflix's Stranger Things

On November 6, 1983 in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, 12-year-old Will Byers vanishes mysteriously. Will's mother, Joyce, becomes frantic and tries to find Will while Police Chief Jim Hopper begins investigating, and so do Will's friends: Dustin, Mike, and Lucas. The very next day, a psychokinetic girl knowing Will's whereabouts is found by the boys. As they uncover the truth, a sinister government agency tries to cover it up, while a more insidious force lurks just below the surface.
Official Netflix page

I've scoured the board and didn't see a discussion for this- dunno, this show is awesome!!!

The show really is awesome. There is literally only one problem and that's the ten minutes of strobe lighting in the last episode. Everything else is awesome beyond belief.

I dunno. She was pretty decent as a person slowly losing her mind. Also, this show is amazing.

I posted this at Streaming Thread. So I guess I shall repost this here. I watched two episodes last night....

Damn.... damn.... Stranger Things... insane. I love it. I just finished watching episode 2 and 3. Barb is missing, (most likely dead) and at the end of episode 3, they found a body out of the lake. I think it's not Will.

Loving this show so far.

EDIT: Lightspeed Rescue's Ron Rogge appeared in episode 4! Awesome!

I hope season 2 isn't too far away. I still have about an episode and a half left but this is now in my top TV shows of all time. Almost perfect, and I'm kind of sad I only have a little over an episode left now..

1. Freaks and Geeks
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
3. Power Rangers (all of it)
4. Stranger Things
5. Lost

It took The Wonder Year's spot.

I'm not saying Power Rangers is better than the shows following it, that's just personal bias/fandom. Obviously this is objectively a better show.

Her acting is going to get her an Emmy nomination if not a win.

Oh man, that ending really gave me chills. I love it when eerie stuff like that happens.

Loved this show so much. This was like Steven King, the Goonies, and Silent Hill all rolled into one. I hope they make season 2, because where it left off was such a tease.

this show is so good. the score was just release today. also amazing. and creepy. i am looking forward to season 2, i just hope they are careful with it. the story and characters as of now are believable and everything is kinda wrapped up with a bit of mystery and i like that, but if too many things keep happening to these people its going to lose its charm. its also kinda nice not knowing all the answers, its very 80s to not explain all the details.

I really enjoyed season 1. It gripped me pretty well. It wrapped up pretty well too while making me want to see what they can do with the upside down in season 2.

All the actors blew me away, I don't think there was a single weak one.

^ Especially the kid actors, who are all surprisingly brilliant.

I thought Winona Ryder's acting has been improve.

Millie Bobby Brown's acting was amazing. I hope her character comes back for the second season.

I loved this show, just finished. But how can they explain Will after a big public funeral?

Mistaken identity. They argued over if it was really him, publically. They just say some lab work came back and it was the wrong kid. They went from the funeral to getting him back in a few days, after all. The bigger question is how did no one detect the worm thing in his stomach.

So other people got the sense they might make season 2 about Will becoming one of those monster things and Eleven coming back to save the day, right?

I think the Demogorgon and Eleven were one and the same in the end. So if that worm means the thing is returning, it could only mean she'd come back too. Probably after some Spielberg-esque set up by the kids.

If season one was made as a love song to 80s genre classics, season two would make so much sense to come back as a play on the endless sequels of the 80s and 90s. Although doing it anthology style with a new cast and new set up would also be a great idea, the kids were just too perfect to abandon. Maybe bring the cast along with and do a 90s style adventure instead of a straight sequel. Though I can't think of 90s genre classics to pull from the way season 1 hit Spielberg and Donner so hard.
