How much more did it make than Build/Zi-O? I hadn't heard of it being that successful
Still in terms of a writer which has little to do with the gimmick and sales the series is well liked. Which tends to help with sales at times. While it that doesn't always hold true as the gimmick often impacts sales more then the actual show itself. The fact that the series is considered one of the better written series helps in this case of hiring a writer who worked on that series. Plus a writers job is to do the show runners bidding. Meaning they do their jobs by trying to make sense of the mess the showrunners have to deal with.

Ex-Aid was really succesful. Not only did it have good toy sales, but was really popular in terms of DVD/bluray sales.

Why?
I'm just joking that it sounds like a fantasy lineup almost.

Loved Ex-Aid, and every story hiccup it had was nothing we haven't seen before - most writers aren't used to the length and pacing of a toy-driven, year-long tokusatsu series.

He looks like he's stolen one of Mach's arms, one of his legs, and half his driver xD.

It does look cool though. Hopefully it ends up being legit.

Well, there goes any significant female hero presence...

Ex-Aid had 2 female riders in it. They each also had very important roles in the narrative. While granted 1 of them doesn't change much into a rider but has massive character development while the other is in a lot of episodes as a rider in the final story arch with very little character development.

I considered that, but 1 out of 4 aren't great odds.

Kiriko was criminally overlooked, Misora was more of a tool than a character, and Yayoi only mattered pretty much due to Koichi's insistence. Did I mention Kiriko was criminally overlooked? Because Kiriko was criminally overlooked.

I agree with this. Having two female Riders in the main cast was a step forward and they at least had personalities and character arcs that didn't revolve around emotionally supporting and / or "falling in love" with a man. They were also popular with Japanese viewers which might increase the chances of this show having a female Rider, especially if it's a large multi-Rider setup as rumours suggest. Misora had presence in Build and her relationships with Sawa and Kazumin as well as Sento were important to the story. While Ohmori's comments during Kyoryuger were bad (the whole "we chose to have only one woman on the team to show how strong they are") it doesn't necessarily mean the female characters in this show won't do anything important or that we have no chance of a female Rider

Yayoi didn't matter, she was only made a Ranger because Sakamoto wanted an excuse for leg/foot fanservice with an inappropriately young girl. The rest of the time she did very little. And Kiriko wasn't overlooked, she was written by someone (Riku Sanjo) who likes to write women as existing to be love interests and pretty decoration. It was probably decided early into the show that that would be her role - the actress gave an interview around 3-4 months in where she said that "The audience is supposed to want to see Shinnosuke rewarded with Kiriko." I don't think they ever intended her to take an active role in fighting nor that her supposed toughness ever served any purpose other than to make viewers think she'd be perfect for Shinnosuke. (I also think Rio Uchida often came across as bored in the role and may not have even wanted more to be done with her character. Maybe that's just me but then a lot of young actresses have that kind of attitude and just use tokusatsu to raise their profiles)

Let’s not do that, thanks.

For me, I'm counting down the days until the official reveal next week Wednesday seeing as Catalog pics could drop any day with the very slight chance we get nothing until then.

Btw, is the official reveal for Zero-One the soonest reveal in Rider history?

I don't think so, but then the summer movie is releasing early this year (it is usually in August), possibly the announcement is now because the hero will be making his debut in the movie

Toei has always described Nico as one of the Riders (although her official title is Ride Player Nico), yeah.

On that note, if 01 is going to have android characters I think it's likely we would get another set of "mass produced" Kamen Riders (like the Kurokage, Mage, Ride Players etc) or something similar to the Guardians in Build. Something like that seems to always appear in shows that involve AI

I think we could get something like Astro Boy sequel where there are a mix of androids and humans. That would make for such a good dynamic sort of like Faiz mixed with Gaim. Plus Mighty Atom does have a 70 year anniversary.

More rumors, grain of salt:
In the base state, Zero One’s belt can switch between “Option Zero” and “Option One.”

His weapon, the ZeroOne Triangle, converts from a blade, to a gun, and then can be attached to his leg for his kick finisher.

Kinda Faiz like. I do like the idea of the weapon being a part of the kick.

Now that seems like something they would have done a long time ago.
