You have to admire the staying power of the TMNT franchise.

My initial reaction to the "Classic Collection" turtle figures: I didn't like them "becuz they wher diffrunt from the original (true) classilk line!"(read: the original 88-90 release), but I like them because they capture the spirit of the classic line and tv show (pupils and lettered belts) without being a complete re-issue with new packaging (like the TMNT 25th Anniversary line or Power Rangers Heroes line). I like that Playmates isn't taking the lazy way out with the Classic Collection line and just re-issuing the original line to earn easy profit.

They've put a surprising amount of effort into the Classic Collection figures. They are really good. I might have to pick them up, even though I'm not a fan of the 80s show.

I'm pretty impressed with the classics line. For a long time now, I've been hoping we would get a highly detailed version of the cartoon turtles from the 80's. These couldn't be any more perfect for what I had been hoping for. The fingers even have articulation to them from the hand. For myself, being a fan since I was 3 years old these take a nice look at the characters but doesn't give them too much of a campy look like what took place with the "toon turtles" from the 90's.

I'm also happy with the new figure line for Nick's new show. It's a different twist but I appreciate they are bringing back a small amount of "gimmicky" ad-ons or looks. It's not overwhelming like the 80's and 90's lines but it does give a bit more imagination that the turtles have come to be known for.

*Agrees*

Most of the TMNT Classics/2012 news was announced some time ago, but TMNT definitely needs its own toy thread for past, present and future toys.

With that said, the only TMNT figures I have are the NECA ones that came with a base and one extra Michelangelo. He was my fave as a kid. I think now, I'll probably end up picking up two of each Mikes.

This is one of the first Mike's that I have truly liked. It seems like most of the major incarnations of him end up with some goofy grin on his face like he is trying to, or just farted.

I fucking LOVE those classics figures. I will definitely be buying those. The toy line for the new cartoon is kind of iffy for me. April and Splinter are freakish, and I really don't like the look of the Shredder. This will be the first TMNT toyline I don't buy.

Here's my turtles collection

A rough picture. I didn't have time to pose them or add all their gear. I think I threw out an opening shell Leo.

He's sort of both. The Utroms in this show are evil and are called "The Kraang." The figure on display is probably one of their soldiers.

If no one knows this, they've stated that if the Classics line does well, they'll be expanding it some more. I'm hoping for some movie stuff. I need a Super Shredder to replace my Kevin Nash figure......

Those classic ones will go great with SHF's. If only bandai showed PR some love like this.

I'll be honest, I really want that to happen but I'm not going to hold my breathe just yet. I don't want to say the 25th anniversary line was a perfect indicator but it didn't bring the turtles back like they were hoping. This time around my hope is that the new cartoon will spark some interest into the classics line, again like Thundercats is getting from Bandai.

I'm with you 100% on the movie figures though. A couple years ago when they started doing casting calls for what would have been the TMNT live action origin movie, I was so excited for a new line of movie toys. Now lets see if anything like that can become reality again.
