So I got a 3D printer for Christmas. I've been printing a lot from thingiverse, but this blocky Megazord is the first thing I've designed myself. Lots of work to fix if I want to print it again, but I think it is pretty close to what I had in my mind

Painting Progress

Almost done with the airbrushing.
The Psycho Bow is really going to need some work for that kooky pattern.
The others need the brush or a paint marker.

Should get the gloss by the weekend.

Has there been anyone who has made 3D printed replacements for the Turbo Rescue Megazord blasters and foot attachments? I did a quick scan of etsy and shapeways and found nothing.

Now, all you need is a Thor hammer so you can get one of the covers for Justice League vs Avengers.

Very nice work!

We could do with a lot more 3D-printed repro and upgrade Zord parts and accessories on Shapeways, definitely... I can think of several examples from Mighty Morphin alone: the Dragonzord's codpiece, the Dragonzord's battery cover, the Power Staff haft, base, and handle, the Dragonzord and Tyrannosaurus tailtips, Titanus' sleds and chain handles, filler plugs for Titanus' cannons, the Red Dragon Thunderzord's head, repro Dairanger rider figures for the Thunderzords, accurate Blue, Black, Yellow, and Pink Mighty Morphin rider figures for the Thunderzords, the Tigerzord's jewels, the Crane Ninjazord and the Shogun Megazord's helmet (I will gladly lend my Crane and my Shogun helmet for 3D scanning if anyone wants)...
Lots of potential in that market.

Got a bit sidetracked there. I have a project of my own in the works:

I'm repainting the Pink Shogunzord white. And while I'm at it, painting the gloss black plastic parts to a satin black for a better look.

Progress update on that Shogunzord. The base coat of white is almost done, which means I'll be able to paint the details soon. And I'm already able to paint the details on the black parts.

Wow Zelda, you've really come a long way in your panting skills, I remember way back in the day before I even dared get an account here. you use to be one of the main draws for me to here, you were so ambitious with your customs and people would rag on you and you kept using those thick acrylics and stuff..but it was always fun to see what you tried...but now you're getting up to a professional level. so keep up the good work man!

Thanks! I'm actually still using acrylics, but nowadays I avoid the overly thick and chunky Americana brand. And anymore I'm careful not to try and rush the process and put too much paint on at once; I actually wait between coats like you're supposed to. Makes a HUGE difference.

I've actually started going back and undoing or reworking my older, sloppy work. But it's been a rather on-off process.

Picked up OVW Ultimates Sombra and I've been having trouble making her stand up since her legs are so wobbly so I decided to make a base for her. Wasn't hard to do. Just took a wooden disc I usually use for D&D minis, glued a 3mm "peg" from a model kit runner to plug into the foot, and then decorated it using XPS foam cut up into bricks. Smeared some PVA glue on top, sprinkled it with dirt, and then primed it with a mix of mod podge/black paint.

Pretty quick and dirty paint job. Used some cheap craft paints I usually use for terrain building. Base colors, drybrushed everything with a lighter color to unify it, and then hit the whole thing with a quick blackwash. Lastly I glued her beacon onto the base so it's a little more "her's" and because I'd lose it otherwise. Might go back and paint some graffiti onto the bricks, but probably not.

I've been terrain building for a while now so most of this was just rehashing what I already know. Probably gonna make some more for my Spidermen. Maybe something a bit more ambitious like a wall with foot-pegs so they can hang off of them.

Well it really shows, and thank you for being one of the elements that got me to join!

Since a long time ago, I've wondered how the MMPR Ninja figures would look like with full masks on.
And I plan on customizing them, but first made a photoshop to see if it will be worth it. Will it?

It's probably a matter of personal preference, but I always hated the look of the eye-hole masks. They just looked weird to me.
