Cool, thanks for the info. I'll be grabbing both Megaforce and Super Megaforce anyway But was curious about what specials they had in Germany.

After the release of Samurai and Super Samurai on DVD and Blu-ray, Just Bridge will release Megaforce on the 20th of november on DVD and Blu-ray too. Next year will follow Super Megaforce and Dino Charge.

On the discs are all 20 episodes of the season and the 2 specials (x-mas and halloween) with german and english audio.

Oh good, at least it is actually the complete season this time unlike Super Samurai.

When you get to Super Megaforce make sure you include both episode 19 and 20 *and* the extended edition.

I don't think that the Extended Version will make it to the DVD, because it was never dubbed in German. The same happened with Trickster Treat and Stuck on Christmas from Super Samurai.

Well, this flew under my radar.

Ordered the Samurai set.

On the topic of Super Samurai, weren't the Lionsgate sets cropped like the MMPR Shout! discs? I seem to remember reading that, but I can't find the thread those discs were discussed in.

You're probably right - that really sucks. Super Samurai really shouldn't have been marketed as "Complete Season" and for the same reason Super Megaforce shouldn't either. It'd have been lovely if MarioRanger's company had tried a little harder to get access to the special episodes, even if they don't include German dubs... I know it would have made me buy Super Samurai just for that.

I think only the specials have been cropped to 4:3 on the Lionsgate DVDs, aside from Clash of the Red Rangers and probably Trickster Treat. The actual episodes have all been presented in 16:9.

I wasn't talking about 16:9 vs 4: 3, letterboxing, pillarboxing, or any of that jazz. I'm talking about the removal of scanning areas.

Like MMPR, I seem to recall Super Samurai had scanning areas cropped.

Ahhh sorry, I understand now. I saw the word cropped and assumed you were referring to the 4:3 issue.

Your reference to the Shout MMPR discs makes it clear what you mean - my apologies.

Unfortunately I have never compared them so I'm unable to answer.

No worries, I can see how it may have been confusing, especially with the Shout/Lionsgate collaborations which did see the release of cropped, 4: 3 video.

It had nothing to do that we didnt try it hard enough. When Saban says no - they mean no.

People are likely making assumptions based on the communication between Saban and Shout! Factory. However, they were working to produce an item for the fans, it was a "Legacy" product after all. The fact that the Lionsgate content was included in full shows that it's no normal release. The majority of the time, when a show or movie is licensed out, the relationship between publisher and licensor is not one where the publisher has any leveraging power.

Out of curiosity MarioRanger, did you figure out what the issue was with the early starting Samurai discs? I don't yet have a region free Blu-Ray device, so if it's a model-specific problem, I'd love to know ahead of time.

Do you sub-license through Marvista, MarioRanger? I'm guessing so, and I seem to remember their credit tag on the international masters on the Samurai BD. Seems odd that those episodes weren't part of your deal as they are part of the full package in every other country that sub-licenses through Marvista.

Apologies for any offence caused by the "tried a little harder" line. I understand you want these products to sell and ultimately would have tried your hardest to make them complete.

Which Shout! Factory/Lionsgate collaborations were these?

Party Monsters and Christmas Together Friends Forever, at the very least. I stopped buying the individual discs around that point in time.

Ah, those. You wouldn't have gotten this one, but there was also "A Christmas Wish". I even thought you might have had the legacy set in mind, in which there was nothing cropped that shouldn't have been.

Promo for Megaforce. The narrator makes it sound far better than it actually is. He also claims it's the 20th anniversary series, but that's Super Megaforce technically... I also take issue with him describing them as "The new episodes" when they aired 2 years ago.

Megaforce WAS actually the 20th anniversary season. Super Megaforce was the 21st. That's why only Megaforce made it into the 20th anniversary legacy set, but not Super Megaforce. It WOULD have made sense for the Gokaiger adapted season to be used for the anniversary, but they had to/chose to adapt Goseiger first.

It was the 20th series but Super Megaforce was the 20th anniversary season. They don't have to match up, like how Forever Red and Once a Ranger were both a year early.

I just got the Megaforce set, 2 discs, episodes 1-11 are on disc 1, episodes 12-20 and the Halloween and Christmas Specials are on disc 2, no other special features are included, it's a standard BD case.

I haven't watched any episodes yet.
