I don't think he'd be applauded even if the movie was successful, that behavior is kind of universally bad and looked down on.
Besides, Joker wasn't even the reason people liked that movie.

We all decided it was Harley Quinn and a Bunch of Other Whatevers featuring Will Smith.

He certainly didn't help. Jared Leto's performance and behind the scenes activity are only part of that movie's many flaws. The point there is that he's not an actor people want to see do comics again because of how bad he did the Joker not that he alone made that movie a critical disaster.

I can't wait to see him as Morbius and find out he actively stalked his co-stars on set, hid in their closets to watch them sleep, refused to come out during daylight, drank actual blood, and tried to kill/bite his costars for their blood on several occasions of "method acting". I feel like it's good money to bet on at least two of those things happening during filming honestly.
He just seems like a creepy dude in general.

I'm legitimately surprised he hasn't had a #MeToo moment revealed yet. He just seems like he's a walking example story.

Because...

1. On principle, "asshole =/= sexual predator"
2. Because the people who have spoken up have already done so long before #MeToo?

And said individuals might have decided, for personal and privacy reasons, chosen not to talk more details?

Again had the film been successful people applaud that behavior. I don't condone it but I don't blame him for the movies failures. He one man can not cause that film to be that badly done.
Speaking as one of those rare individuals who actually really liked Suicide Squad: No. There is not a single valid excuse for Leto's on set behavior. You don't get to harass your costars and then hide behind it just being "method acting". That's literally the excuse people give for the things Logan Paul does. "It's just comedy" "he's just an entertainer" "You're only hating on him because it's cool to hate on him". Fuck that, he's just a dick who found out how to get away with being a dick. That would not change no matter what people thought of the movie

Though this movie managing to have a worse Joker than the one in the Young Justice cartoon just makes the whole thing even worse. All that "method acting" for nothing.

Update on the Morbius movie.

Basically:

-Yes, movie's still going to get made, whether people like it or not.
-Jared Leto is still attached to the product.
-They're aiming for a shooting date of February 2019
-The possibility is being considered on making the move rated-R.

So... Avi Arad is just really an asshole isn't he? There is so much smug condescension in that interview.

The interesting thing about Morbius is that’s another character that can go a whole bunch of different ways. Do you envision all of these Spider-Man spinoffs being PG 13? Do you think there’s any character, or any part of the universe that could go to an R-rated release?
---
TOLMACH: Without compromising the character.

ARAD: We didn’t compromise anywhere. You saw the movies. There is no compromise. That was Venom.
Bull-fucking-shit

ARAD: You know what? When you hear Venom…forget Venom. When you hear, Carnage, the only thing you can think of is R. But, if you know his story, if you really know the comic, there’s no R here. He’s a tortured soul. It’s not about what he does, because we never have to show the knife going from here to there, and the blood is pouring. What you have to show is, what is the motivation? Was he born like that, or it’s someone we should feel for, because if you are succeeding to make a villain someone you can feel for, jackpot.
Listen to this guy out here spinning tales like he's pushing out movies about tortured souls when the one take away from Venom is "I'm a bit of a loser" & "Like a turd in the wind..."

They're taking their one small victory with Venom and they are prepared to torpedo their Spider-Man Spin Off universe even quicker. God speed.

To be fair it Brock is goofy as fuck as Venom. I mean he did a Hans and Frans in a comic with the hulk at a news station one time.

Well yeah. Because why would they not?

Not much we can do aside from just waiting around for the movies to drop.

Yeah and a reason I want Arad gone. Anything he touch but crap and a detriment of Spider-Man films. No wonder Spider-Man fans hates him for the wrong reasons.

Yes, he is. I want him out of the Spider-Man film franchise soon and I'm very glad he's no longer involved in Marvel anymore with the exception of the webslinger.

Nice. It's always good to have a release date. And it's also nice we don't have to wait too long.

.

He is, and always has been, a fucking idiot.

He tried to turn 90s Spider-man into a soulless toy commercial

He prevented a Ghost Rider crossover on Spider-man TAS because he told the bigwigs at Fox he was going to make a Ghost Rider series for UPN

He forced Sam Raimi to throw in Venom and Gwen Stacy in Spider-man 3

He insulted the audiene intelligence by trying to say Amazing Spide-man films could fit in with the Raimi trilogy

He was responsible for that Bratz movie atrocity

Probably some other examples

I believe he also hired the people who did a really good job on the character and series and he also came up with the streamlined origin for Venom.

Without the movie having Venom it would instead have had, Raimi's initial idea, the Vulture as well as Sandman so the movie would have been pretty busy either way.

That is LOL.

Leto has been in contact with Morbius co-creator Roy Thomas

Had a nice conversation this afternoon with Jared Leto, the Oscar-winning actor who plays Morbius in the upcoming film about that character that Gil Kane and I created back in 1971. Jared phoned from London and we had a talk about the origins, motivations, and torment of the character. Sounds to me as if he and the producers, directors, et al., have definitely nailed Morbius as we conceived him, and I look forward to seeing the movie. I would guess it will come out in 2020.
