Captain Marvel : "Stop, Hammer Time." (Starts dancing in baggy camo pants in the middle of boot camp).

On a more serious note:

Well, it's quite appropriate since Carol is a former Air Force pilotin the comics and this could take place in 1999, just months before the flashback prologue of Iron Man 3 if used.

Just the song came out in 1999 doesn't mean it barely covers the Nineties and also, anachronisms are quite common in films taking place in the past.
Well, nothing says an adult from the 90s like one who remembers songs from their youth in the 80s, so you know they'll probably place her in a risky place. A ZONE, if you will that happens to have a lot of DANGER in it......

(I'm so seeing her, Starlord, and Captain America bonding for some strange inexplicable reason, I don't know, maybe it'll come to me with the passage of time....)

Posted this already in the MCU thread...

...but huh. I guess Marvel Studios WAS able to bargain with Fox.

Curious to see how they'll address Carol having her powers for +20 years but the Avengers never hearing about her or SHIELD never bringing her up.
The Skrull being involved makes it pretty likely that this isn't set on Earth, so being away from the planet GotG style makes enough sense. I wouldn't be too surprised if they adapt the idea of her being in a coma for a long period of time either (obviously without Rogue being involved).

Glad to finally see something of this movie though, I still don't understand why they decided to push it back in favour of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

I think it's because at first, it was delayed due to Spider-Man: Homecoming given the July 2017 release date that was originally for Thor: Ragnarok and moved to a year later due to no director nor actress confirmed at the time with its planned release date given to Ant-Man and the Wasp.

As posted in the main MCU thread, Jude Law will be the original mantle-holder that's not Billy Batson, Mar-Vell.

Mentioned this in the general MCU thread, but anyone else find it an interesting coincidence that Captain Marvel is Envy Adams from Scott Pilgrim while Captain America was Lucas Lee from that same movie?

Could be Rambeau. Actually would be neat to have all the Marvel-mantle holder characters appear in the film in some capacity both for a possible future tease as well as just having them in the MCU period.

Itís kind of interesting, but considering they never share screen time together itís not that huge a thing. Itís a common thing for a lot of these Avengers to have done previous work together: RDJ and Ruffalo in Zodiac, Renner and Mackie in The Hurt Locker, and Evans and Johansson in The Perfect Score to name a few.

Captain Marvels anyway. And there's still two more who logically can't appear yet, though could in a sequel which would be set 20 years later. Genis and Phyla-Vell, aka Legacy/Photon and Martyr/Quasar. And then there's the Ms Marvels of course - Sharon Ventura (though she probably comes under the FF rights), Karla Sofen (aka Moonstone), and Kamala Khan. Karla and Kamala are also characters who could be used in a sequel, which could then be used to launch the Thunderbolts and Champions teams from.

It has to be Monica, meaning that there would be three Captain Marvels.

AAAAND WE HAVE COSTUME PICS!

Man, it's not the red, yellow and blue suit I'm hoping for, but that's gotta be there in the third act, right?

So...green color is either:

a.) A stand-in for some VFX that are going to go on it later.

b.) It's a prototype suit when she's testing her new powers.

EDIT: Ninja'd

The outfit could be a call back to the earliest incarnation of Mar-Vell's outfit, which was green and white, that was back when he served under the Kree

Also as a heads up: it's not clear if what Brie Larson is shooting here is for her actual movie, for "Avengers 4", or for a post-credits scene in a later movie.

Yeah I think it is the early outfit nod I'm suspecting a color change. Hoping for a color change. I have never been a fan of Captain Marvel's green/white suit I always liked the red/black or blue suit. Green is my favorite color too so that says something.

If it were for post production it would be more of a block green colour. It looks like it has too much detail and shading for something like that. More teal or turquoise than green.

It's probably just an earlier kree/prototype suit. I'm sure she'll get the classic colours later.
