I watched the Christmas special on Netflix last week. It was fun, though the singing was...yeah could've done without it being a musical. Also really Marinette overreacted to the Santa Claus when he showed up with Adrien, accusing him of being an akuma though he looked like any normal Santa which felt kinda forced, but oh well. It was a fun story and definitely curious to see what S2 brings. Hopefully more plot development and less glut of Akuma-of-the-Week episodes.
the singing did seem kind of forced into the episode...though I could see them doing a whole musical episode at some point in the future too...

it is funny how Marinette causing people to become akumatized has become something of a pattern...

i wonder, would a person be able to be akumatized a second time, and if so would they become the same villain as before? They sort of touched on that with the puppeteer episode but sometimes the villain reflects more the circumstances of their akumatization (Mylene, Kim) rather than their personality traits (Aliya, Sabrina)

Seems to me that Hawkmoth has a hand in what sort of supervillain the akumatized person becomes.

true, but a lot of it seems to be determined by personality or character traits or the circumstances under which they were wronged...

toy fair 2017 Miraculous merchandise:

http://www.kidzcoolit.com/reviews/to...rom-bandai.php

not a whole lot new...a scooter figure, another zipline figure?

TRU has clearanced a lot of Miraculous stuff, so I'm thinking this may be the make-or-break year for the show on Netflix...

I doubt Netflix cares /that/ much about toy sales given most of their properties don't have a toy line. Now Bandai on the other hand, sure. But they also didn't put the toys out till a couple months ago, after the show had aired it's rocky first season so it's basically on them. Well and Nick. And I say 'rocky' just in the way it was aired. For those who want the toys, I wish them well. I remember seeing them in Walmart when they first came out but that was before the holidays and their redoing of the toy second. Now they're gone from the ones around here so I'm not surprised to hear TRU clearancing them. Maybe when they release the actual toy line it'll get some space. I mean there was four figures; Ladybug, Marinette, Cat Noir, and Adrien. Really not all that much when I bet most kids would likely jump at getting Ladybug and Cat Noir while passing on their civilian forms.

A shame too. Female action figures in not-pink colors are not as in demand,
or Netflix toy promotion seems to be in a wonky state of effectiveness. Voltron's barely tricking in my area.

Voltron has a good endcap display at Target along with Power Rangers this month...so there is a chance the show could pick up viewers to the point where it does become more engrained in the public consciousness...

I did see the new Eiffel Tower playset at TRU (not everything is clearanced) and the new dolls and action figures at Target...stuff is out there but things like books (or even Valentines, this show was made for Valentines to be sold) that would be cheaper to produce seem to be pretty scarce too...

I did get that Korean Miraculous art book, done sort of in the style of all those other animation "Art of", which is pretty nice...

interesting...could the kwamis be like Pixar's Inside Out, reflecting an emotional state? (e.g. Tikki is optimism...others could be grief, selfishness, etc)

the recent panel at SDCC revealed the airdate of season 2 is...December 2017

ouch

the show has been coasting on reruns for almost a year, the toy merchandise has dried up and is being clearanced out...airing in December probably means no new demand for merch or will be too late to take advantage of the holiday season...

while they do seem to be fast-tracking a live-action movie, and getting stuff into stores like Hot Topic, one would think the better move would have been to fast-track the episodes so that people would remember the show even exists!

Well, maybe you just can't fast track it. A live action movie seems...interesting.

December? What the heck is the holdup? They keep bringing up all these amazing things they want to do with the franchise, yet we have to wait a year between seasons? That's ridiculous.

In Australia, it seems not a single distributor is interested in releasing this show on DVD.

I've only seen the first episode, and it didn't suck me in. Does it improve? It really looks up my alley.

If you didn't like the first episode, you may not care for most of the others. The series is very, very formulaic save for a select few episodes.

give it a shot...it does have an over-arcing storyline that starts to pay off towards the end of the season...

I especially like the Timebreaker episode, which is my all-time fave...

internationally they haven't had new episodes in almost two years, which is a real dangerous place to be...this really will be the make-or-break season...

So with Chloe getting the bee and Alya getting the fox. People being mad about Chloe saying she does not deserve it because of her being a bitch. A theory says that you get the miraculous to teach you something
Marinette needs to be more self confident. Adrien needs to learn to be more free. Chloe needs to be more selfless. Not sure about what lesson Alya needs.

To be less reckless? She's been putting herself in dangerous situations since she first met Ladybug.

I liked Lady Wifi, though...

The long wait is finally over! Complete with updated intro!

Boy, did we get a lot of questions answered about the mythology.
  • Gabriel is DEFINITELY Hawk Moth
  • Nathalie knows Gabriel is Hawk Moth
  • Master Fu's mistake apparently destroyed the temple of Guardians, lost the Moth and Peacock Miraculous AND the book all at the same time
  • Miraculous holders can be Akuamtized (unless it's only after they stop wearing their Miraculous)
  • People previously Akumatized can apparently be Akumatized again

Good episodes, too. Gabriel was apparently in full control of his actions as The Collector, but that might have to do with there being no Hawk Moth to control him.

And could they have foreshadowed any harder in the second episode?
Chloe's nice and assists Ladybug?
I'm glad Adrien finally put his foot down with her.
