Tony and Emmy winner, Kristin Chenoweth, has been cast as Maleficent. She's a wonderful singer and a great comedian, but this is an even bigger miscast than Ben Affleck playing Batman.

Well, now we know who Mal's father is: Taylor the Latte Boy.

Hey, we've never seen her play dark, she could probably do a great job.

After all, I suspect this is still to be played for laughs. Think more Hades from Hercules.

That's seems a major assumption to make. In fact, I recall hearing much the same thing when someone was announced as the voice for the Joker in Batman the Animated Series. "How could a goodie two-shoes lightweight like Luke Skywalker ever be PROPERLY menacing?"

Those of us who'd seen him as The Trickster in "The Flash" TV series already knew the answer to that of course, but a LOT of people were shocked that he could play malevolent so well. And I can think of any number of examples of mild, gentle people playing absolute monsters (Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing, Roger Delgado)

I've heard about this movie for a while and tbh, I think it's too weird to work. If it were animated maybe but live-action? Plus, it sounds like a carbon copy of Ever After high.

Okay, seriously--Kathy Najimy and Kristen Chenoweth in a DCOM. That potentially can offset a lot of suckage.

I'd prefer a Scream Team sequel.

I just hope they include the Lion King despite that cast being animals.

If people were fans it'll bring them in regardless, & if someone didnt see the movie, it doesnt matter anyway. Nothing in that movie was crutial to them being animals.

Now, THAT was a fanfic idea I had to include Gargoyles into th overall disney-verse. By having Brooklyn time dance & meet the cast of each movie & team-up with them. The Lions were a Gargoyle clan, & the heiynas would have been some kind of race of African mythical monster, whatever their version of Orcs, goblin, Satyr, Frost-Giants were.

But I guess we have the Avengers to blame for this. Vampires are over, Zombies & werewolves are not as interesting, pirates never caught on, its the era of fairy tales, & shared universes.
Very easy to include Lion King characters. Just do what they did in Once Upon a Time, have one of the characters have a pet cat they named Simba or Nala or whatever the kids' names were in the sequel. That'd be funny.

Or they could throw it all out the window and someone make it make sense that Simba and Nala's daughter got a magic item that allows her to become a human but if she gets to upset she starts changing into a lion, like a were-effect thing. I mean they're already being completely crazy with this show anyhow right?

Considering this has been done before, I'm not surprised Disney is trying to capitalize on the idea themselves given Monster High and Ever After High are apparently really popular. As others said, a little odd being live action especially if they get into magic and stuff, but I'm betting this is Disney's way to try and use this already done idea and "make it new and exciting" by doing it live action. Well whatever, a kind of amusing idea I guess.

This film seems like a waste to do as a made for t.v. movie. Why couldn't it be a theatrical film?

Because Wendy Wu is probably better and wasn't a theatrical film?

Here a photo of the children of the villains. It features: Mal, daughter of Maleficent and played by Dove Cameron; Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen and played by Sofia Carson; Jay, son of Jafar and played by Booboo Stewart; and Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil and played by Cameron Boyce.

This looks like a generic tween comedy-drama with snazzy costumes.... still will give it a watch if only to see how much a train wreck it is... Would much rather a Wendy Woo Sequel

Yiiiiiiikes. That looks...rather jarring.

Still not entirely sure where they're going with this. Though yeah, the girls look a little better. The guys look like punks, though I like that the kid of Cruella has the red, black and white going on.

Well, we couldn't have expected much from a low budget made for t.v. movie, after all.

I think it's probably because this is the first DCOM in a while that's really going places with its setting, story and characters. A lot of DCOM movies tend to be more grounded in reality or take place in realistic settings with plain colors and characters and backgrounds.
