Angry Video Game Nerd Discussion Thread

Once upon a time there was a young boy who knew joy. He was happy, he was content, he could escape into the world of video games to bring forth his own imagination. Then he played a LJN game, and has been ruined ever since.

This is the story of the Angry Videogame Nerd, originally a Nintendo nerd, and his quest to see just how full of poo classic game console libraries truly were.

Swearing, drinking, bodily functions, rainbows, retro games, his own video game and it's sequel, a movie to phone home about, and everything that has spread from that.

The Cinemassacre website for AVGN. http://cinemassacre.com/category/avgn/
Youtube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...009153AC977F90

You can also see him on guest appearances on other shows such as Pat The NES Punk.

Meanwhile the man behind the Angry Videogame Nerd has other characters and other roles. All found on Cinemassacre, which goes over old consoles and technology, movies, board games, and more. He also appears on shows other than his own, such as The Video Game Years where he acts in a calmer, friendly way.

Due to his history with them his stuff tends to get lumped into the TGWTG thread.

But Technically, Cinemassacre is just partners with TGWTG.

Technically, yes, but I'm not saying this thread is wrong just letting you know why it hadn't been posted.

Personally I'm getting more into James' other work, 'Dragon in my Dreams' is incredibly touching, his 'Cinemassacre 200' video is incredibly enlightening, and 'The Deader The Better' is just a joy to watch. I have his three pack of Cinemassacre DVDs and like them all.

But, if I were to choose a favourite AVGN episode... it'll probably the ROB one or Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.

Hmm...generally the AVGN stuff tends to be either in the VG/TGWTG threads, but whatever. James has a ton of stuff to offer besides AVGN.

Ninja Gaiden is one of my favorites. The training montage he went through was hilarious. Even after all that, neither AVGN nor the ninja could beat the game. Great ending. (James did manage to beat it later, though). Other favorite episodes are the ones with Plumbers Don't Wear Ties and Batman episodes.

Even though I'm itching for some more episodes, I don't mind waiting considering the amount of work he's putting into the AVGN movie.

Aside from AVGN, Board James and You Know What's Bullshit? are very entertaining to watch.

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties is amazing, and Ninja Gaiden was hilarious. I also love the Superman 64 review and the Game Glitches episode, along with the Castlevania four-parter, although that one isn't as funny (I just love Castlevania).

Aside from AVGN, I also really like Board James a lot.

I pretty much love all the stuff he's doing (along with Mike Matei reviews) overall, hell after I got hooked watching him I wanted to get into filmmaking, even got enlisted in a local film school here in Puerto Rico...and then I found out I couldn't study due to not being enlisted in the selective service, still looking for a way to study filmmaking though, gotta say along with George Lucas, James Rolfe pretty much inspired me to go that path!

I really love the Power Glove and Zelda 2 eps, the Sega CD/32X ones are great too, also his 4 part review of Castlevania (wish he had reviewed Rondo of Blood a bit more in depth than what he showed though)

Speaking of, he has uploaded a few videos to his Youtube account before having them in Screwattack and Gametrailers, and recently read that Derek Alexander (Happy Video Game Nerd) is now on GT...anyone knows if AVGN still with GT or what happened there?

I've been an avid follower of James since about 2006 when he first started posting on youtube. He's one of (if not the only) youtuber i haven't found to get stale after the years of watching. I couldn't tell you what my favorite video of his is, I'm definitely partial to his older videos though.

I'm a huge fan. Seen every review. I like his other work too, can't wait for the movie. As for favorite episode mine would be Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. Such a funny review and probably the stanges game he's ever reivewed.

The first AVGN episode I watched was Bible Games I, and since then I've been hooked. During the pre-burnout days, pretty much caught every episode and downloaded a backlog through Gametrailers.

Favorite episodes would have to be Plumbers, Bible Games I and II, and a lot of others already listed on here.

Rondo of Blood wasn't touched upon due to him not owning a PC Engine and being relegated to the lousy Dracula X port.
--------------------
My favorite Board James episodes would be Dragonstrike, Crossfire and Mr Bucket.

It's a damn shame that so many people hate all the Mike Matei vids, though.

It should probably be posted, James' website where you can find all of his content. Loads of videos on here that never make it to youtube.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of everything he's done. I went for the AVGN reviews, but stayed for Monster Madness, Board James and everything else he's done. You can really tell he means everything he says and puts a lot of work into making these videos.

Glad he got to kill two birds with one stone by finally making a movie, but throwing the AVGN in there to help it along.

I don't really have the time to watch him nowadays (plus I think he's kind of peaked), but I'm happy for his success and will definatly watch his movie.
