I think Jay's show is supposed to be more comment-on-the-news, almost "Daily Show"-esque in its approach. They've made it a point that Conan has the one and only Tonight Show.

And, BTW, The Max Weinberg 7 is no more.

So if I got this right "The Jay Leno Show" is just going to be "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" with a different name and time and "The Tonight Show with Conan O' Brian" is just going to be "Late Night with Conan O' Brian" with a different name and time?
Jay: Pretty much
Conan: Not sure

Like I said, his all-around brand of comedy has been viewed by some critics as too outrageous and/or immature for the Tonight Show, so his never-ending parade of quirky backstage characters, referring to Max as an adulterer and sexual deviant, and such may not make the cut.

As for his regular sketches (In the Year 2000, If They Mated, Celebrity Survey) will be there, just like Jay talking his Headlines and Jaywalking bits with him.

Pretty much, he's already got Andy back and Max, his set is an updated version of the "late night" set and the theme will be the same just updated.

elaborate? last I heard the Max Wienberg 7 were going with Conan. they made a big deal about it before the show ended. what happened since then? did some members quit, forcing them to go under a different name? or is Max himself opting out?

Yeah. A guy who was a fill-in while the show was in NYC is becoming a permanent member in L.A. So, there's 8 now.

I was trying to be mischievous. Guess it didn't work. The band's still around. It's just the name that is no more.

He was a replacement drummer (Max Weinberg went on tour a lot) so methinks he'll be on aux. percussion.

They're just keeping the name from Leno's band.

It was always known as the Tonight Show Band from the beginning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonight_Show_Band
It was "The NBC Orchestra" during the Carson years. The page you link to even says so.

That was Abe Vigoda, not Joel. Joel's the announcer with a taste for asian male prostitutes, Abe Vigoda's the awesome dude who rules.

Jimmy is having Chris Hardwick on as a guest?! WTF?!?! O_o

First Morgan Webb, now Chris Hardwick... Man, Craig Ferguson was right when he said Jimmy was competing with Adult Swim for an audience, as opposed to him.

Heh. That's somewhat cool.

He's said from the start he was targeting the tech crowd, the g4 audience. He was on ATOS in fact, fan of the show, makes sense he'd bring those guests on. I wonder if well see Alison hayslip on eventually...

Part of me wants Conan to revive his "I'ma Gonna Go To Hell When I Die" Jingle.
