Come on Gold, you've been around long enough to remember that we didn't get any kind of Super Sentai action figures from Gekiranger all the way to Gokaiger, and even then, they only made Silver.

I hate to be the elephant in the room. We get 9 rangers this year and not a damn one will get the figuarts treatment.

I would love to get a ShiShi Red at least

That starry helmet....

It's a really bad sign when we don't even get 5 inch action figures from BOJ.

They just stopped at Ninninger. They made three male Ninninger and just stopped.

Not a single Zyouhger action figure.

Very sad
They aren't Kamen Rider so the best they can get would be the vinyls and, if Kyuuranger gets adapted, then BoA could release some figures but that's in about 2 years.

Kyurenoh reminds me of a cross between gekifire and travelion. I'm happy with the return of a more traditional, unified and solid looking mecha for the first release.

I always wondered why only Ninninger randomly got BOA style figures. It made me think it would be a staple of future Sentai lines. And boy howdy how much would I like to have that carried over now.

I've always thought that Bandai Japan saw how much effort Bandai America puts into the 5" line they they tried it to reinvigorate possible sales. I mean we eat up the 5" line here, but Japan has had a hard time selling any Sentai figures. I could see that they saw potential from how well the 5" line sells in other markets. Too bad it didn't work.

aw man, when i saw the 3 ninninger figures, i was hoping BoJ would use zyuohger to release well the zyuohs of course but next to it, 4 waves of 10 reds(akared to make it 40)
if those did well, then release the 6ths alongside the 41st, then BIG ONE & extra heroes, etc

i hope kyuu brings in enough interest for BoJ to try an action figure line again, and eventually get sentai back into figuarts

With Sentai really being about the mecha (that's the toys that need to sell, really), I wonder if the little cockpit rangers was a compromise. Like, let's make figures and make them part of the mecha!

BOA really one-upped them on Shurikenjin by emphasizing the figures can pilot the mecha.

Those mini Kyurangers will probably be removed or the optional open cockpit removed completely if this series is turned into Power Rangers.

Choking hazard.

Remember the opening cockpits are an optional feature you can buy to replace the Kyutama that come with the DX voyagers already.

On the other hand BOA has the opening cockpit with mini figures for the movie megazord

"shrugs"

Yeah, I think they'd just mark it as "choking hazard". The OG TMZ came with them.

Transformers current crop of Titan Masters suggest otherwise. And the little Minibike things that come with the new Voltron Lions are even smaller than that.

Aren't those particular transformers toys for older fans, though?

Hah, with how many things they took off the already simple Shurikenjin for the Ninja Steel Megazord (Seriously Bandai, the truck flap? The thing that makes the dump truck look like a dump truck?) I'd just cut my losses and get the Japanese versions. Unlike Kyoryuger, I don't think we need to worry about easily breakable clips any more, thankfully.

No. They're aimed at the same age groups as Power Rangers, Voltron, GI Joe, TMNT, Star Wars, etc.

Hasbro seem to be making a distinction between pre-schooler Rescue Bots, older kids Robots in Disguise and adult-oriented Generations as of late, but that's not going to stop kids buying the toys (and it's not like they're not child-friendly or designed in the same way as most kid-focused Transformers), so the "risk" with teeny figures is still there.

They're also the same price as the Robots in Disguise toys.

Which makes me imagine that Hasbro are working on the basis that children will be more likely to want toys of the characters they watch on TV than random, typically-unrecognisable bots. How often that happens to be the case, I don't know. I certainly have a number of non-show Beast Wars figures, even though I have strong memories of wanting to try and get the missing show characters in the early 00s, haha. That said, Beast Wars was a single line, while RiD and Gen. are pretty clearly distinguished in packaging and aesthetics.

All the same... like I said, they're still kid toys. The most notable difference between Titan Masters and the Kyuranger mini-figures is probably target audience. Sentai is, what, 3-6? The lower end of that is still in the "let's put this toy in my mouth!" phase, I suppose. Kids getting Generations figures would probably be past that.

Yeah, definitely. As a Transformers expert (and own many many Titanmasters because I love collecting smaller Transformers figures) I can say that all of that is true. Really, Generations is more aimed towards adult collectors because it's entirely characters from older cartoons, which older fans would most likely to remember and/or care about, and the current comic series, which is definitely aimed at adult fans.

Kyuranger is aimed at kids, obviously. Also remember that Japan has FAR looser toy safety laws that other countries.

I've not gotten anything from the Prime Wars trilogy yet... but I must get Chromedome.

The toy safety laws are another good point. And let's not forget that we had little figures as part of the Zyuohger line, with the mini ZyuohCubes and the playset.
