And we still can't get Region 2, English releases of LG-WF.
So I take it from that that the German DVDs have never included English for Time Force. Does anyone know whether the 2018 re-release of Time Force included the uncut pre-9/11 versions?

It's the exact same content, as far as I'm aware.

The German DVDs only include the English versions for the Zordon era.

Sure thing.

Speaking of, how many versions of MMPR have we had now?

I first bought;
-the French DVD which were volume releases
-the German DVDs which were complete sets
-the American DVD sets
-the UK DVD sets
-now the German BDs

Am I missing any?
The Australian DVD releases. All three seasons are available here in separate sets. I personally don't own them since I imported the Shout Factory set when that was released, but I figured they are worth mentioning.

That has to be the worst cover art. For one thing, its mostly just the same pictures moved around. And no alien rangers? Cheeky...

All of those neo-Saban pics of the MMPR are terrible. You'd have thought they would at least try recreate poses etc but it's like the photographer just said to them:
"Alright guys, I want you to just do something Power Ranger-y".

I always thought they looked like cosplay. Thereís something off about all of them. Something ill-fitting.

Anyways, I think the Blu-ray has been delayed maybe? I just got an email saying they canít provide a delivery estimate.

On the Amazon page for this item: "Dieser Artikel erscheint am 18. Januar 2019. "

So, apparently it has indeed been delayed by more than a month.

Same here! Kinda reminds of how all German DVD sets kept getting delayed for a few weeks too...

Sigh... Mario mentioned they aren't getting any new masters from Saban/Hasbro, so I have to wonder what's causing the > 3 month delay!

I see your 'March' and raise you an 'April 26th'.

See you in a month where we can discuss the next inevitable delay to May 29th.

I had to go back to my OP to see what the original street date even was. It's been so long that I didn't even remember...

Jesus... what's taking it so long? I'd actually completely forgotten about it for the time being until I saw this thread again.

Right? I don't get it either... Mario was even on this thread mentioning that they were gonna use the exact same masters/tapes they had from Saban back in the day, so I don't understand this 5-month delay.
Unless something changed with the Hasbro takeover and they aren't allowed to have the old Saban Entertainment logo on the discs, so they had to make new masters, but I'm really just speculating here.

but you can't improve any mmpr eps for HD. there are no film masters, only what was found on tapes. which as we all know degrades over time. so any work they would do, i honestly dont think would make any difference. i would of liked power rangers sd content on bluray. not because of better bitrates, but less space to occupy shelves. besides, bluray discs just last longer then dvds.
You can not remaster MMPR in genuine HD without redoing the VFX.

You can improve MMPR and present it in HD, and we would all rebuy it and enjoy it like never before.

If anyone's seen Dekaranger on Bluray, you'll know that SD content on BD looks better.
Dekaranger was upscaled for Toei Channel and BD. Several Toei hero programs were upscaled for broadcast on Toei Chanel, and while they have issues, they are a viable way to enjoy the show. Digimon Adventure suffers a simmilar fate on BD, but it's noticeably blurrier.

(expand for Deka deets)
*** Video Track Parameters ***
- Format: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
- Bitrate: Max.: 39.0 Mbps / Average: 25.3 Mbps / Min.: ---
- Frame rate (fps): Max.: Undefined / Average: 29.970 / Min.: Undefined
- Encoding profile: High@L4.1
- Image size: 1920*1080
- Pixel Aspect Ratio: Undefined
- Display Aspect Ratio: 16:9
- Interlacing: Macroblock-Level Adaptive Frame/Field

Glad this got bumped, I missed the news. (I just ordered the Shout steelbooks, but I'm a sucker!)

Regarding "SD on BD looks better" - not always. Samurai Pizza Cats - also from Saban, also from 1993 - looks worse on SD BD. Screenshots are subjective, but when you just look at the first episode's bitrate, the DVD is 7 607 Kbps, while the Bluray's is 5 232 Kbps.

Upscaling is more than viable for commercial releases, and upscaling algorithms are always improving. My recent VHS rips looks better than some of the DVDs, because I care to make it look good.

I still don't understand how such a thing would get past Quality Control, both at Saban Brands or Shout Factory... unless there was no QC at all
It passed because we still bought it.

And we bought it again.

Some bought it again.

Some more bought it again.

And here we are, talking about buying the same show again, with the same issues.

Who cares that half of Beetleborgs is ghosted? Who cares that Dairanger is ghosted? Who cares that 4 seasons are MONO? Who cares about MMPR's overscan being cropped? LOL #nitpicking #firstworldproblems #getalife

It's debatable as to whether or not MMPR could be improved for Bluray.
On one hand, like another member said, they didn't film using "film". It was tape so they don't have decent masters to scan in the first place.
Star Trek TNG is a good example at this point. Star Trek TNG was filmed on " Film" but all the VFX was mastered onto tape. When they released their original DVD's, what you had was the tape remasters and so the quality was poor.
When they went to bluray however, what they decided to do was go back to the film and luckily Paramount supported them and gave them a budget to redo the whole special effects to produce a nice HD presentation.
You can't do that with Power rangers unfortunately.

That's said...
I still believe you can get much better quality than the shout box-sets because if you look at the previous German sets and the Disney released "Best of Power Rangers" dvd, the quality is much higher on those in my opinion and I think it was proven by higher bitrates per ep.
But we know Disney destroyed a lot of Power Rangers history. Did they destroy the best master tapes for use in turning MMPR into high quality DVD's?

I'm really hoping that this new German set utilises those masters that the original German set utilised because not only because of the high quality but also they used versions of season 3 episodes that I preferred (ancient zords while referring to shogunzords before they are officially named etc). Fingers crossed.

As far as I understand, Power Rangers was definitely show on 16mm film and not on tape!
Remastering it would be the exact same as Star Trek TOS/TNG (expensive!).
What I honestly doubt is that those original film reels still exist somewhere... plus there's the added "bonus" of having to get that japanese footage on film/in HD as well.
