Yowza! Thatís actually quite a creepy sculpt. And I thought Parasect was creepy enough when he was a mushroom growing out of a little crab thing.

This is such a bizarre situation. I donít know that thereís ever been a situation like this, where a series of figures is presumed canceled and never produced, but then starts showing up not years, but decades later. Itís not like the UK is Mauritania or something, how in the world did these figures escape our notice for so long?

(I guess the answer is that Masked Rider was short lived, and also bad, and the people in this thread are the only ones who care. But the toys are cool, and youíve gotta admit itís a heck of a story.)

The other two almost certainly exist, itís just a matter of somebody tracking one down. Red Dino Ranger, I wish you the best.

I was watching that on ebay but without wings nor ears, I didn't think it was worth it.

Thought you might be
I managed to snag it for a bit less after the auction was over - he relisted it with a BIN and a Best Offer option and we passed around a few offers.

Frankly, I was very hesitant about it for the very same reason, but I thought I might never see another one or if I do, it might be even more expensive - like that Maggot that recently sold for around 60 GBP... Much as I wanted it, no way could I pay that much for it.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind paying 60 + for a figure as along as it's worth it. Given how rare these figures are even to find, finding the parts to them I imagine would be impossible and he just doesn't look that good without them.

Destructesphere is different in that his tail doesn't change his front aesthetic. Unless you turn him around, you wouldn't know he even required a tail.

Right. But exactly because we can't even be certain another one'd pop up (Lord knows how hard I've been trying to find another Destructisphere), I just didn't want to lose him. I've got plenty of Batman spare parts lying around (or might even pick up some rubber bat toys to dissect and make something custom made for him).
And with that being said, much as I want to, I'm not at a point in my life where I can't afford to spend that kind of cash on a figure, even if I do think it was a fair price considering the condition and how scarce these are

As for Destructisphere's tail - heck, he even contracts it himself during the fight, so frankly, I'd say it's no biggie at all

Pretty cool that these toys continue to show up, even after all these years!

Here's a pic of the sealed Parasect I just got. Sorry, I'm an idiot, and I don't know how to resize.

Consider my mind blown O__O

Any chance of sharing where you found him or if there's any additional info on the others like Hydrasect and Reptosect?
That's an awesome find, I'm incredibly jealous!

Now that's more like it. I was beginning to suspect that maybe they had been released under another toyline (as maybe Masked Rider was cancelled before these were released) but it's reassuring to know they have Masked Rider packaging.

Notice though that they don't feature the character's name on the cardback itself, but on a sticker, unlike the earlier released figures.

So Ironically, I found him on ebay after Red Dino Ranger resurrected this thread. I have a complete set of aliens from all the bandai lines, and I was blown away that there was a whole wave of figures I didn't know existed. I went right on ebay and found this guy. He was listed just as "Saban's masked rider" in the description. It was from a seller in portugal with a feedback of 1. It was a risk, but I had to take it. I sent a bunch of pics of grnrngr, but if there's any other pics you guys want to see, let me know. I'll post them later tonight or tomorrow. Here's a quick pic of the back. It sucks that there's a big sticker right in the middle.

It's interesting that the packaging shows Destructisphere, Maggot, Parasect and RoboRider, but not Hydrasect or Reptosect. I guess that could be a sign that those two didn't make it to release. Then again, it doesn't mention Skull Reaper and Cyclopter either, though as far as I know Cyclopter was originally included in Hero Assortments.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm really bummed out that I missed him, since I eBay search Masked Rider on various eBay sites, mostly UK and Germany, multiple times pretty every day, but I am glad that the "investigation" is moving forward!

Awesome find and once again, thanks for sharing

Well it's quite possible then that the only ones we've seen now are the only ones that saw release.
In the UK we got Cyclopter with the first wave of Masked rider figures. Him, robosect, the reaper, double face and count dragon.
Double face and dragon may have had a second release amongst these new ones and perhaps that's why these are the only ones shown on the box and we're included in the wave. We'll only know if thats not the case if the others turn up.

I still can't find that parasect though even under completed listings.

It's on the US eBay - listed as "masked rider saban", saw it yesterday. At least he sold for more than I could afford, so it was a bit easier accepting the fact that I missed out on him

Shit...did I miss another one?!

Yup, just saw the auction. Dumb of me to not take a closer look, I'd encountered the auction, just didn't notice Maggot. Oh well...the quest continues...
