Armitage was good in Robin Hood, where he played Guy of Gisborne.

I recall seeing Andrew Potts mentioned after Smith's departure was announced. I've not seen him in anything other than Primeval, and I can't recall how strong his acting was, but Connor clearly developed across the five series so there's definitely something in him. A lot of people are putting Colin Morgan forward, and while I didn't watch Merlin, he's definitely showing a strong turn in Humans. Richard Armitage could be interesting... plus it'd be fun to see another of Geraldine "The Vicar of Dibley" Granger's love interests (hell, her eventual husband) as the Doctor.

Potts is pretty decent. I saw him in SciFi Channel's Alice and he really seemed kind of Doctor like in that

Ah, yeah, I think it was that which he was being referred from! I'll have to look up clips of him in it tomorrow.

I don't really have anyone in mind for The Doctor, but my criteria for Doctor-ish actors is very small: a look in the eyes.

If I look at Matt's casting announcement photo and Peter's, one thing I see in each is a look of mischief. The kind of look that says, "Let's get in my TARDIS and see what adventures we can get into." So it's not as much that I think anyone in particular should play The Doctor, but more that I'm pretty much willing to buy into anyone as long as the actor can sell it to my satisfaction.

Turns out, Moffat has previously spoken on the matter. This is what he had to say:
Do you know how it will happen? It will not happen that somebody sits down and says we must turn the Doctor into a woman. That is not how you cast the Doctor. A person will pop into the showrunner's head and they'll think. 'Oh, my God, what if it was that person?' And when that person is a woman, that's the day it will happen.
What a load of crap! Maybe this is how he casts characters but it's obviously not how everyone does it. This guy has some nerve talking about future castings that he won't even be part of.
Someone sitting down and saying "The next doctor will be female" without having an actress in mind could exactly be how it happens, that's actually a very likely scenario.

I loved this little comedy clip from BBC Comedy for the future Dovtor where they joked around that it could be Phil from EastEnders. That was so freaking Hilarious and i could actualy see Phil from EE as Doctor Who

I agree with that. I miss the excitement of the Doctor- 9 and 10 had it. 11 had it for a little while until they started making him a million bazillion trillion and one years old, something they kept up with 12.

So there's still the matter of 12 showing up in DotD. I have a feeling that could play into the final story, like say, his final act before the regeneration.

Ah, "broadcast on every screen", one of my favourite techniques! Is it just me, or do some of those look quite old? The one closest to us looks flat, but the other two look like an old thick black TV and an old thick grey computer monitor.

The conflict between the human race and the red-robed hand-raisers is put on hold as the dreaded C-Gulz make their presence known...

They're all CRT screens. Perhaps it takes place in the past.

If we really must say goodbye to Capaldi, I hope Gomez will at least stick around.

We've only had one Master stay for multiple Doctors, so it would be nice to see Gomez stick around for 13. Hopefully she's not a Capaldi/Moffat loyalist and chooses not to comeback because they leave.
